Darius

The words clung to me long after Elder Helene left my study: The prophecy is beginning to unfold.

They rang in my ears like a curse, following me down every hallway, dogging me through every breath until I almost wished I could tear the sound out of my skull.

The prophecy had been whispered for years told in smoky council chambers, muttered around fires when pups needed scaring. I had always thought of it as a tool, a myth to bend wolves to obedience. But when Helene said it, with her hollow eyes fixed on me, it was no story. It was a sentence.

And I knew who it pointed to.

Her.

Lyra.

The mate I had rejected. The girl I had cast out like spoiled meat, believing her unworthy of me, unworthy of my pack.

A sharp pain stabbed into my neck, sudden and blinding. I gritted my teeth and pressed my hand against it, fingers clawing at the skin as though I could rip the poison out. Then, just as quickly it was gone. Sweat dripped down my brow, leaving me raw and trembling.

Secrets of the BloodlineThe night was restless. The camp had quieted after the day’s storm, but the silence was a fragile one, heavy with unspoken doubts. Wolves shifted uneasily in their sleep, sentries paced longer than usual, and the scent of distrust clung to the air like smoke.Lyra sat in her tent, her back straight though exhaustion weighed on her bones. She stared at the flickering flame of the lantern, replaying the scene again and again—Darius on his knees, blood on his lips, the rogues baying for his death. She had chosen mercy, but mercy had its price.A rustle at the entrance pulled her from her thoughts. Marcus’s shadow didn’t linger there, nor did any of her guards. Instead, a faint cough followed by a heavy thud made her heart leap. She rushed to the flap, pushing it aside. Darius stood there—or tried to. He leaned heavily against the post, sweat beading on his forehead, his chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. His clothes were torn, his bandages already da

A Wolf DividedThe camp was restless the next morning. Smoke from the night’s fire still lingered in the air, but the wolves’ voices buzzed like a swarm of bees. Word of Darius’s arrival had spread like wildfire, and now everyone seemed to have an opinion about what should be done with him. Some wanted blood. Others feared him too much to act. And a few, disturbingly, spoke of him with the kind of reverence one would give a king.Lyra heard it all as she walked through camp, her head held high though her stomach twisted with unease. She had been their Luna, their shield, their hope. But with one broken man at the edge of their territory, her authority was already being tested.“Lyra.”Marcus’s voice was sharp behind her. He caught up in three strides, his jaw tight, his eyes burning with the kind of anger that came from fear.“You should have let me finish him last night,” he said flatly. “He’s a danger to all of us. You know it.”Lyra kept walking, though her pace quickened. “He’s no

Echoes of a Broken BondThe camp stirred uneasily as the last echoes of the howl faded into the night. Wolves shifted nervously in the shadows, their hackles raised, instincts on edge. Lyra stood frozen by the fire, every muscle taut as her wolf clawed against her chest. That voice. She would have known it anywhere.Marcus was already issuing orders, sending scouts to the perimeter. His tone was sharp, but his eyes never left her. He didn’t need to ask—he’d seen the way she went pale, the way her hand trembled as though the sound itself had cut her open.“It’s him, isn’t it?” Marcus asked quietly once the others had scattered.Lyra swallowed hard, forcing her breath steady. “It doesn’t matter who it is. If he’s come here, he’ll find no welcome.”But even as the words left her lips, her chest tightened. She had spent moons building walls against the memory of Darius—walls of steel, of fire, of rage. And yet one howl, one raw cry in the night, had cracked them like glass.Moments later,

The Poisoned GiftThe journey back from Lucian’s stronghold was a blur of shadows and restless silence. Lyra carried the vial close to her chest, its weight heavier than any blade. Every step away from that fortress only deepened the unease gnawing at her gut.Marcus walked at her side, limping slightly from the earlier scuffle, though he hid the pain behind a forced smirk. His eyes, however, betrayed his worry.“You shouldn’t trust it,” he said finally, his voice low. “Magic that shimmers like that… it never heals without taking something in return.”Lyra clenched her jaw, staring ahead at the thinning forest path. “And doing nothing means she dies. I’d rather face a curse than bury another innocent.”“Sometimes,” Marcus muttered, “one life can’t be saved without risking many others.”His words landed like stones, but Lyra pushed them away. She knew the dangers, yet she also knew what it meant to feel helpless while someone slipped away. She would not stand by. Not again.By dawn, th

Whispers in the DarkThe night hung heavy over Lucian’s stronghold, draped in silence broken only by the occasional cry of a raven. The fortress, with its high stone walls and cold iron gates, looked more like a prison than the sanctuary it pretended to be. The air smelled faintly of smoke, damp earth, and something darker—an undercurrent of magic that made the hair on the back of Lyra’s neck stand on end.She shifted uncomfortably in the long corridor, her silver eyes scanning the torches that burned blue instead of gold. That detail alone unsettled her. Blue fire meant enchantments—wards placed for control, not protection. She didn’t need Marcus’s warning look to know they were walking on dangerous ground.“Keep your guard up,” Marcus whispered beside her, his hand brushing close to hers like a protective shadow. “Everything here is a trick.”“I know,” Lyra murmured, though her heart hammered harder with each step. She wasn’t naive. This wasn’t a homecoming. This was walking willin

LyraThe Blackthorne stronghold rose before me like something out of legend–stone walls carved with ancient runes, towers piercing the sky, banners of deep obsidian fluttering against the wind. It was too polished, too perfect, and that alone set my instincts on edge. Packs like mine scraped survival from dirt and blood. Packs like Lucian’s lived as though the moon herself bent low to kiss their feet.“Impressive, isn’t it?” Lucian’s voice brushed against me, smooth and disarming. He stood just behind my shoulder, close enough that I could feel the warmth radiating from him. “Our ancestors built this hall when Blood Moon was still a hunting pack. Every stone has been reforged by loyalty.”I didn’t answer immediately. I wasn’t here to be charmed by architecture or velvet words. But when I finally looked at him, I almost forgot to breathe.Lucian Blackthorne was not what I had expected. I’d imagined a brute, someone who ruled by fear. Instead, he looked carved from the same night sky. H
