Cora.

The fabric on my lap held onto my skin as my sweaty palms soaked the thin material, I wiped the sweat from my hands furiously as I listened to Marcus.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean that, I am here to help, not destroy," he said calmly.

"It's funny you can even say these words, cause all you've done since your return is to stir trouble," I countered.

"I have been left with no other choice," he explained.

"Who left you with no other choice?"

"Lev, he took a curse upon himself," he said, getting up from his feet and taking a seat back where he sat.

I arched a brow at him, "what do you mean?" I asked.

"I mean that Lev has been harbouring a curse for a while now, nurturing it under the illusion that it's a gift."

"I am still very confused here, what curse are you talking about?" I sat up, leaning towards him.

Mabel.I couldn't believe he would treat me this way, I know we haven't known each other for long, but the least I expected from him was his trust. Why would he tell me to teach him how to fight or better still, beg me to teach him how to fight when he could pull off all those sharp skills and tricks without my help, it's crazy. What hurts more is the fact that he doesn't even see anything wrong in keeping secrets from me, he can't seem to find anything wrong in not telling me his name... I guess he can't trust me or at least that's the excuse he gave the last time I tried asking for his name before now.It shouldn't hurt, I know it shouldn't, but it does—I thought we were really getting along, I really thought he would trust me at this point in time, I guess not.I couldn't help it when the tears began to flow, uncontrollably, I knew I had to stop but I couldn't bring myself to do so,—I felt the whole weight of everything coming down on me at once, breaking down the tall walls I buil

Luke."So that's it?" Mabel's voice cracked, breaking the silence between us, her voice laced with anger, "you just expect me to accept that you were able to beat up two wolves like it was nothing, and I’m not supposed to ask how?"I wiped the sweat off my head and looked far into the forest, anywhere but her eyes, "it wasn’t a big deal okay? I’ve had to learn how to protect myself while I've been out here, that’s all.""Protect yourself? So you have been lying to me all this while?" She asked, her tone rising again."I haven't lied to you Mabel," I responded, doing all I could to maintain my posture, the last thing I want is for her to see through my act."Oh wow, says the person that practically begged to be taught how to fight but all of a sudden, he's fighting like a beast!" She yelled.I turned to look at her, finally mustering the courage to meet her eyes."You aren't going to say anything right?" She added quickly, throwing her arms in the air as she turned to leave, "I'm out o

Cora."Do what Cora?" he responded nonchalantly."Why did you keep on taking the blame every time we got caught?" I clarified.Marcus paused, keeping his gaze at me as he massaged his chin with his right hand."I did it cause I always felt guilty, I felt guilty that I was the reason we got caught every single time we got out."That makes sense I guess."But we never said to you that it bothered us," I pressed on."You didn't need to, I saw it in your eyes, especially Levs’, the way he looked at me every time we were being dragged to father, I knew he thought of me as the weak link," he said gravely."Marcus—"He cut me off before I could say anything else, "I noticed his closeness to you, the way he would try to get you to leave me behind, I could see his disappointment whenever I joined on any adventure," he continued."Marcus, you are reading too much into it, Lev was just very competitive, he hated to lose and..." The words hung in my throat, not exactly knowing how to deliver them

MarcusThe hallway outside the office room was quiet, well lit and chill, the evening breeze invading the whole space.I walked into the office, pacing the length of the room, my mind racing with thoughts from the last rogue report, this guy seems to be forgetting his place. Finally coming to rest at the side of the large table, I stood there, tapping my fingers against the top of the large wooden table.I couldn't focus on anything till I heard her steps, Julia’s footsteps approaching the office, and before I knew it a smirk had crept its way to my lips. She walked gracefully, each step portraying the confidence I know she has, unable to break my gaze from her even when she walked into the room. Something about her steps made me remain fixed, watching with admiration. She closed the office door softly behind her and said, "it’s done."I arched a brow, intrigued, "done?""Cora," she replied smoothly, maintaining eye contact with me, "I found her—fought her and almost ended her.""Why

Lev.The elder shut the door with a soft click, I stared at it long after he had gone, his words still occupied my thoughts, weighing heavy on me.Everything I had ever built or owned with pride now felt like a wasted effort."Say hello to Marcus for me, would you?"His last remark taunted me, "damn him!!!" I yelled, clenching my fists.I couldn't turn my eyes away from the doorI just was fixed on it for a long time, and then when I couldn't take it any longer, I yelled, “argghhhhhh!!!!”Kicking the lamp stand beside me over, and before I could stop myself, I kicked the edge of the table, sending it crashing into the wall. The glass followed, crashing against the marble floor, scattering everywhere."They know everything," I muttered, dragging my hands down my face, "Marcus, Mabel—everything, how could they possibly know?""Alpha Lev, is there a problem?" Two young men rushed in, looking prepared for a fight, "we heard loud sounds and decided to check it out ourselves, thinking it wa
