Lucy’s POV I felt Adam squeeze my hand as my heart leapt in my throat. “Goddess…. My head…” he moaned as he tried to sit up, my hand going to his chest and stopping him. “Shhh, love. Adam’s POV “Da? Da!” I screamed as I got to she building, the smoke rolling out from a window on the side of the house. “Look wha the cat drug in, males!” The Beta from the beginning of the week was standing in front of my home while it burned, my Da nowhere in sight. “I think it’s time ya joined the old mutt!” The two males came forward to grab me from behind him but I dodged and ran inside the house, hearing them cackle outside. “Go and die ya filthy Rogue!” He called out to me as I busted in the front door. The heat was intense as the smoke billowed around me, the paint on the walls bubbling as I made my way through the house. I knew the flames were from my Da’s office, the intensity of the blaze not even allowing me down the hall. Lucy’s POV “There!” The Doctor wiped his brow and stepped back, all of us letting out a collective sigh. “We‘ll let his body do the rest from here. It may take him a few hours or so to regain consciousness; but damned if we didn’t do it perfectly.” The hole at the side of Adam’s head had been stitched closed and everything was now being cleaned up. The Doctor’s mate had even come in at one point and brought us all tea, mine still sitting untouched next to me. “You should sit down and rest, Lucy. We’re gonna hit the road again as soon as he’s awake.” Jason patted my shoulder. “No. I’ll wait.” I didn’t want to leave him, especially after seeing him in this state. “You and Justin go get some rest, I’ll be fine.” He gave me a tight nod as they all three left me, the soft lights above my head letting out a feint hum. “Adam. Wake up. I’m here for you. I love you.” I whispered as I learned against his chest. I could hear his heartbeat as I closed my eyes and counted each one. *****

Lucy’s POV “Come stand back here.” Doctor Wilston called us over as he took another X-ray, all of us standing back quickly as the machine hummed and clicked, the old man scurrying off quickly. “I’ll be back, you can go back to your spots.. and keep the incisions open!” He called to Jason and Justin. It had been three hours already, and Thai was the first time he had demoed it necessary for the x-ray. The careful cuts had to be held apart at particular angles in Adam’s brain to slow down his healing, making us all sweat in anticipation. When the doctor came back and held up the photo, he cussed. “Looks like it’s more work boys. Adam’s POVI had stopped at a convenience store and bought a can of spray on deodorant, pipe cleaners, tape, and a small instant camera; planning on masking my scent with the foul smelling mist that humans loved.
