36.

TWO DAYS LATER…

“Is that all the documents for today?” Samantha asked Linda, who nodded. “Cool then. That means I would be able to get home in time for Dad's arrival.” she smiled and Linda nodded.

“I'll go place them in the drawer,” she was about to leave when the door opened and Mia walked in with the receptionist trailing after her.

“I'm so sorry, ma'am. I asked if she had an appointment, but she demanded to see you and just barged in here.” The receptionist complained with her head lowered.

Samantha looked at Mia, who rolled her eyes while blowing bubbles from the gum she was chewing before averting her gaze to the receptionist. “It's fine, you can leave,” she said to the lady, and she bowed before walking out.

Samantha looked at Mia. “It's not nice to just barge into someone's office. I'd advise you have some manners, Mia. But let's forget about that. Why are you here?” she asked, the look on her face serious.

Mia took a seat and crossed her legs. “I think you've been taking my warnings lightly, so I have come here to remind you. I have no idea what your problem is, and why you have chosen to take Aiden away from me.”

“What are you even talking about?” Samantha asked with a scoff. Linda stood in a corner with her arms folded as she watched them. She hadn't seen Mia before and wondered where Samantha knew her from.

“I mean you're stopping him from spending time with me. When he hadn't met you, he used to have my time. Whenever I came into the city, he would take me shopping and spoil me, but now, he barely returns early from work, and I know it's all because of you. He is spending time with you and avoiding me at home!” she snapped.

Samantha snickered. “I think you're getting the wrong idea, Mia. Aiden and I haven't seen each other since this week started, and it's because we've been busy working tirelessly on our new project. You are misunderstanding the whole situation, girl."

Mia scoffed. She wasn't going to believe whatever came out from Samantha's mouth. “I don't believe you. You're just using this to cover up your lies, and I'm not so daft to fall for it.”

“Suit yourself.” Samantha shrugged and that seemed to annoy her.

“Aren't you tired of going after someone else's man after getting dumped by yours?” she asked and Samantha raised an eyebrow.

“Excuse me?”

Mia chuckled. “Oh, so you think I don't know who you are? You're just a fake. You have a messed up personal life, but you show the world that you're a good person when it's all just a facade. I bet Aiden doesn't know your true colors, that's why he is still sticking with you. After getting divorced and chased out by your husband, you have the effrontery to try getting close to my brother to boost your fame.” she said, her voice dripping with venom, each of them aimed at Samantha's heart and ego.

Samantha tightened her fists. Linda was about to talk, but Samantha shook her head to stop her and faced Mia. “Are you done?” she asked and Mia's eyes narrowed at her. “If you're done, you can get out of my office!” she snapped.

Mia laughed out loud. “Ouch! I guess I might have struck a chord,” she sneered. “But you should know that my Aiden can't have already used products. You don't deserve him.”

“Mia, I am being patient with you because of Aiden, but if you continue to push me to the wall, I won't mind showing you how dangerous I can be. I forgive you for today, next time, I might not take it likely with you. Pray you don't try this rubbish on a day when I'm in a bad mood.” she warned, her voice firm and intimidating.

Mia rolled her eyes. “I'm not scared of you. As long as you are still with Aiden, I will continue stepping on your toes and pushing you to the wall. A divorced woman shouldn't be someone my brother will love. Watch and see how I'm going to blow your secret to the whole world. I bet Aiden would be happy to see you all over the news and finally know your true colors.”

Samantha didn't want to be moved by her. “Get out of my office before I call security on you!”

Mia stood to her feet. “I will get out of your stinky office, but take what I said today as your last warning. Again, you have no idea how dangerous I can become when I don't get what I want, and I hate being disobeyed.” With that, she turned and walked out of the office, a proud smile on her face.

Linda rushed to Samantha. “Who is that bitch?” she asked and Samantha took a deep breath to calm herself down. She was literally boiling in rage right now. She had never been disrespected like this since she rose to power. It brought back bad memories; memories she wanted to forget about forever.

“She is Aiden's cousin.” Samantha answered, her mind racing with how to get back at Mia for what she did.

Linda gasped. “Aiden's cousin? Why is she acting that way then? What's her business with you and Aiden's relationship?”

“Apparently, the rascal is obsessed with Aiden and wants no one to take him away from her. I'm not even interested in him and she keeps bothering me. I want to put her in her place so bad!” she snapped, pounding her fists.

“If you want, I can help you beat her up and set her mouth straight. Bitchy bimbos like her should know where they belong; on the floor with sand stuffed in their mouth.” Linda huffed and Samantha smiled.

Samantha stood to her feet and carried her bag. “Let's just go home.”

Linda nodded as they walked out of the office. They got outside and were about to get into the car when Aiden came out of one of the cars parked there. Samantha was shocked to see him.

He walked to where she stood with a smile on his face.

“What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at work?” she asked.

Linda moved away so they could talk. Her eyes met with that of Seth and both scoffed as they looked away from each other.

“Am I a robot? I'm getting off work, of course. Besides, we have to rub minds together on the last phase of our project.” he answered, and she nodded with a sigh.

“So, what are you doing here then?” she asked.

He walked forward. “Be my date to the Sullivan Group handover ceremony.”

44.That night…Samantha stood in the bathroom as Aiden's words kept coming back to her. She wondered what he meant by playing by his rules this time. She hadn't been this nervous in her life. With a sigh, she poured water on her face and stepped out of the bathroom. Aiden was busy working on his laptop, and she wondered if he ever stopped to rest for once. She leaned on the wall, her arms crossed as she watched how his hands moved swiftly over the keyboard. He was so focused, so determined. She couldn't help but feel a twinge of admiration for him.As if sensing her gaze, Aiden looked up and caught her staring at him. He smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Hey,” he said, his voice low and husky. “I didn't know you were done in the bathroom.”Samantha shrugged, feeling a blush rise to her cheeks. “Yeah, I was just… admiring your focus,” she said, trying to sound nonchalant.Aiden chuckled and leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving hers. “I'm just trying to get every

43.The day finally came for Samantha and Aiden to leave for Detroit for the car show. Samantha had submitted an application, and luckily, they were given a spot.Linda and Seth were coming with them as well. They arrived at the airport, and Samantha looked around with a smile on her face. Everything was ready and according to the advice Aiden gave her, the model would first be seen at the car show, that way their ideas wouldn't get stolen or revised.“Why must you come with her? She should have taken her Secretary instead.” Seth scoffed to Linda's hearing, and she glared at him.The two of them have been at loggerheads since day one, and she wouldn't mind putting him in his place like she always does.“You should have been placed in the car booth. I have no idea why you talk a lot. You're a man for goodness’ sake!” she scolded him, but he rolled his eyes.“Can't you two just get along? What's with the bickering?” Samantha asked.“There is no way I am getting along with this… this dud

42.Bianca paced to and forth in the living room as she waited for her father's arrival. She had been waiting to tell him about what Aiden said and also make sure he explained things to her, but he hadn't been around. He had told her he was coming home today and she had been anxiously waiting. She heard the sound of the door and quickly rushed to get it.“Dad, welcome.” she greeted him and he nodded. He walked into the house and took a seat. She took a seat facing him, dabbing her fingers together as she stared at him.“I want to hear good news, Bianca. Were you able to secure the deal with Aiden?” he asked curtly.Bianca's face fell, and she shook her head. “No, Dad. He refused to work with us.” she answered with a frustrated sigh.Mr. Sullivan's expression turned dark. “What did he say?”Bianca took a deep breath before recounting her conversation with Aiden. Mr. Sullivan's face grew angrier with each passing moment.“When I asked him why, he said it was because of your business pra

“Apologize to her now, Mia. I will not repeat myself again!”Aiden's voice was firm and commanding, leaving no room for argument. Mia's eyes flashed with anger, but she knew better than to cross Aiden when he was in this mood. She took a deep breath and turned to Samantha.“I apologize,” she said stiffly, her words dripping with insincerity.“Say it like you mean it, Mia.” Aiden ordered and Mia sighed, lowering her head.“I'm sorry, Samantha. I shouldn't have said all those words. Please forgive me.” she sounded sincere this time around, but her heart meant something entirely different.Samantha looked at her, her expression unreadable. “It's fine,” she said curtly, her voice barely above a whisper.Aiden's eyes narrowed at Mia. “I mean it, Mia. No more of this. Samantha is going to be my wife, and I won't have you disrespecting her like this.”Mia's eyes widened in shock, but she knew better than to push Aiden further. She nodded, her face pale.“I understand,” she said, her voice ba

40.That evening, Samantha returned home and was shocked the minute her father relayed the news to her. Samantha couldn't believe it.Her gaze flickered between her father and her mother. She was speechless at first, and when she finally found her words, she began. "Why the sudden announcement, huh? I don't think it's necessary for us to get married now, Dad.""Why not? You two are adults. There is nothing wrong with the two of you getting married now. Besides, he has been patient enough. You were supposed to get married to him immediately after the handover ceremony, but he personally told me to hold on so you could get used to running the company first. You're already making progress. Also, it's just for sometime, so what is there to complain about?"Samantha couldn't wrap her head around it all. Why was Aiden suddenly doing this? She felt it was too soon. She had just managed to survive the heartbreak from Nathan, and now she was getting married off to Aiden? She wondered if he was

39.The handover ceremony came to an end and a meeting was held the next day, where Bianca would talk with the stockholders and directors as the new CEO.Samantha was present at the meeting and only said a few words. Even when most of the stockholders were asking questions, she just sat there, watching them. Some stood up to oppose Bianca the way they did with her, and she thought Bianca was going to put them in their places, but the lady only stuttered and tried to defend herself. She smirked and shook her head, realizing that Bianca wasn't ready before she was thrown such a huge responsibility. After the meeting, Bianca breathed a sigh of relief. She had thought that Samantha was going to find a way to disgrace her since they weren't on good terms, but she was shocked at how quiet Samantha was, and wondered if the lady had anything else up her sleeves.Samantha stood up and was about to walk out."Ms. Salvador!" Bianca called, causing Samantha to stop in her tracks. She turned to se
