Chapter 71

Celeste:

We finally arrived at the shop. I thought it would be the same mall as last time, but it wasn't. It was smaller, but even the dresses on display looked more expensive.

Christian and I walked in together, his hands on my lower back as I tried to avoid asking him to move further down. I was sweating even with the air conditioner blasting through the room along with the loud classical music being played.

“Good morning.” A staff member greeted us: “You're welcome to La Beau. How can I help you?”

“We have an event? “A fundraiser – she needs a dress,” Christian told her. It's as if he made sure to use fewer words when he was talking to outsiders.

“Yes, sir,” the staff light up. “This way, please,” she directed us to a separate room with soft cushions for us to sit down before dragging in a wardrobe of dresses. It was an effort to keep my mouth closed.

“All these?” I turned to look at Christian as the staff stood waiting.

“Yes, princess, take a look at whatever you like;

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   MY DUTIES

Chapter 84Celeste:We arrived at Esme’s room. The floor above mine. I took a seat on her bed while she bent down to pick the phone from under her carpet.I recognized it immediately. The black case has a cracked screen protector because I was a bit careless while hastily packing my things this morning.Esme handed me the phone. “Here it is. I think his number is the only one saved on it.”I nodded. “I didn't have anyone else to call; I mostly used it for games.”“See.” Esme smiled. “You can also find use for it here; at least you wouldn’t be bored out of your mind.”“I guess so,” I replied sadly.“You miss him, don’t you?” Esme asked, noticing. She was always watching me.“I don't know how I feel, Esme,” I replied truthfully. It was like I was missing something, but I couldn't put words to it.“That's also not bad; when it becomes clear to you, you'll know,” Esme replied.“I have to go now; Mother Lucia said she'd send someone to come get me,” I told her.“For the spiritual liaison s

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   PAYBACK

Chapter 83Celeste:Immediately after evening mass, Mother Lucia beckoned for me. I was worried for Esme; Sister Theresa was definitely going after her. After everything I had been through at the hands of Astrid, I was tired of bullying. You could exist, and someone would hate you for it. I wasn't going to sit by and let her walk over us in the convent anymore. Esme and I went in opposite directions.Mother Lucia was waiting for me at the podium. “Celeste, dear, I had no idea you had arrived yet.”I smiled at her. “I had greeted Father Elijah and told him I was a bit exhausted from the drive; he told me to rest before I resumed my duty.” Father Elijah hadn't said anything like that, but she wasn't going to ask him, right?Mother Lucia smiled. “That is true, dear. I hope you're well rested; I have a lot of questions. You got the opportunity to do the Lord's work outside of the convent with barely any guidance, so I'd like to know how that experience felt.”So they knew they set me up t

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   Gaslighting the sister

Chapter 82Esme:I make sure the phone is properly hidden beneath my dress before walking away from Christian. I know Sister Theresa is waiting for me; she would've pretended to walk back into her quarters but would be waiting for me on Celeste's floor, and if I walked into Celeste's room, it would be game over.I wasn't as forgiving as Celeste; I knew Sister Theresa had some kind of agenda against the poor girl who was trying to navigate life on her own, and the rest of the church heads turned their heads around, pretending not to know that Sister Theresa was doing more than training future nuns. She was a bully, and sadly everyone was too timid to go head-to-head with her, even me.But Celeste already had enough going for her. When Christian first showed interest in her, I had thought it would be a harmless crush, something Celeste hadn't experienced her whole life. I was glad she had finally met someone who made her heart run, but I had no idea the hell she had been put through all

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   REJECTED AGAIN

Chapter 81Christian:I immediately left the car and walked straight to the small office that served as a reception.“Good day, sir. You're welcome. How may I help you?” The young woman smiled at me.I tried to calm myself down, knowing I couldn't transfer the frustrations I felt into her.“Good day, please, is Celeste available?” I asked. “Celeste?” The woman asked.“She's a nun in training here; she spends a lot of time at the orphanage,” I explained.“Oh Celeste, yes of course, everyone knows her. Might I know why you're asking for her?” She asked. Oh shit, I hadn't thought of a plausible reason that wouldn't feel suspicious. I had to come up with something.“Yeah, she is my spiritual liaison, and I would've called, but she doesn't really have a phone.” I was holding her phone; she had left it with Matteo, just like she had left me.The woman smiled. “Yeah, it's a distraction. I'm sure she taught you, but don't worry, take a seat, I'll get someone to bring her down.” “Thank you,

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   THE CONVENT

Chapter 80Celeste: When Matteo dropped me off at the convent, I was shaking. From the cold, from the fear of Mother Lucia finding out about the sin I had committed last night, the sin I had no regrets of.I was scared that Sister Theresa would smell it off for some reason, but I had to push through. I walked straight to Father Elijah’s office and knocked twice before walking in.“Ah, Celeste, you're back.” Father Elijah smiled as he beckoned for me to sit down. “Welcome, welcome. I hope the journey wasn’t stressful?”I didn't know if he was asking about my journey as a spiritual liaison or the journey of driving down here, but I couldn't be honest either way. I wasn't even close to being a spiritual liaison, and my ride here was so tension-filled I thought Matteo would turn around mid-drive.“No, it wasn't; I had God all the way,” I replied with a tight smile. I hated lying, and worst of all, to Father Elijah, who had always been nice to me.“Well, that's good news. I'm sure Mother

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   GONE

Chapter 79Christian: Celeste fell asleep on our ride home. Her head resting on my shoulder and her hands wrapped around my arm.“You seem awfully happy tonight,” Matteo said when he noticed she had slept off.“Oh really, I didn't notice,” I replied. That was enough to shut him up.We spent the rest of the ride in silence as thoughts plagued my mind. I couldn't believe the last hour actually happened, and maybe I was dreaming. Celeste had let me in and opened up to me; I suddenly felt so undeserving of it, of her innocence, of her love.Being with Celeste was a dream come true, and I don't know what I had done to have her here with me, but I was going to make sure she loved every moment and was always happy. We finally arrived home, and I had to wake Celeste up.“Princess,” I whispered as I laid a kiss on her forehead, her eyes fluttering open.“Hmm.” She looked at me confused.“We’re home; we have to leave the car,” I explained.“Oh,” that was her only reply as I helped her out of t
