CHAPTER 28.

CELESTE:

I sat on a rock, holding a blank paper and a pen. It belonged to Alice, but I borrowed it to make a sketch. I had no idea what I wanted to draw, but I just felt inspired.

I began tracing. I had no idea what it was at first, but soon I did. I was drawing the only thing occupying my thoughts; I was making a portrait of him.

I thought that after the confession I would be at peace, but I wasn’t. I was even in a worse dilemma, maybe because I never got a penance. Father Elijah didn’t say anything to me after my confession; I was so embarrassed that I just ran away. He was probably shocked and ashamed of me, but I couldn’t blame him. I was shocked at myself too. He hadn’t spoken a word to me about it since that day. Well, I was avoiding him. I think he hasn’t told anyone about it yet; he couldn’t do so, though—he would be committing a sin if he did.

The portrait wasn’t perfect, but it was good. I never knew I could draw really well. I lifted it up to stare at it, and I

CHAPTER 31.CELESTE:“What if I fail?” My lips quivered. The bishop sighed and stood up, then he walked up to me and gently patted my shoulder.“You won’t fail, child. This is no big deal at all. I assure you that at the end of the day, you would be amused by how scared you were today.” He stated it, and I could only nod at him.“Good. Now, you should go start packing up your stuff because you will be leaving immediately after breakfast tomorrow.” He revealed.“What? Tomorrow? But—but, that’s too sudden.” I retorted, with a shocked expression on my face.“No, it’s not. And if it is to you, then I greatly apologise, but you have to go meet the supplicant quite soon. He pleaded that the intercessor come as soon as possible.” Father Elijah replied.“He? It’s a he?” I asked.“Does it matter? What matters the most is that you are doing the Lord’s work. It doesn’t really matter who or what the person is, okay?” The bishop said softly. He brought out a tissue from his pocket and handed it to

CHAPTER 30.CELESTE:I stood in front of Esme’s door, feeling hesitant to knock. I didn’t know if she had any interest in seeing me at all. It had been a whole day without talking to each other, and I missed her.“Are you just going to stand there?” I heard her voice ask from inside. I slowly pushed the door open and walked in.“Hi.” I greeted, resting my back on the door.“Hi.” She rolled her eyes and turned away. I didn’t say anything to her, and the room was quiet again for a few minutes.“If you’re just going to stand there, then just leave. I need my beauty sleep.” She stated.“Oh, I…I’m sorry.” I apologised.“For what?” “Um…actually, I was talking about just standing here.” I replied, pressing my lips into a thin line.“Okay.”“And I’m also sorry for talking to you that way. Look, I’m not letting him come between us. Before I knew him, there was you. I don’t know him; he’s just a stranger. But I know you.” I said.“Okay.” Esme repeated.“Please say something.” I pleaded, and

CHAPTER 29CELESTE:My heart was beating fast; I didn’t know what to say to her, as I never thought I would get caught.“It was a mistake,” I whispered, and she chuckled vilely.“It was a mistake, huh? Walking to the door, stopping, bending over to peek—all a mistake, huh?” She questioned, her hold on me getting even tighter.“I’m sorry.” I managed, trying to loosen her hold on me, which was surprisingly impossible to do. She was so strong. Hot tears were rolling down my chin now.“It was the devil.” I said, and Sister Elizabeth laughed.“Y’all need to stop blaming the poor devil. He didn’t do anything.” She remarked.“She takes time for a fool.” Sister Theresa responded, and this time she wasn’t smiling.“Come on, Theresa. Let her go now; I’m sure she has learnt her lesson. You’re being too violent.” Sister Elizabeth said, but Sister Theresa wasn’t listening anymore.I soon noticed panic and fear all over Sister Elizabeth’s face.“Theresa, stop it right now. What do you think you’re

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   FIRST MOVE

CHAPTER 27.Christian:I couldn’t leave, not after listening to Celeste. I was stunned. It was a prayer and a sin rolled into one. I was glued to a spot. Celeste waited for a response, which I couldn’t give. She guiltily ran away, probably thinking her sin was too great to be forgiven.I pulled off the duvet and turned to the other side of the bed. I had been trying to sleep for hours, but I couldn’t. I just couldn’t get myself to sleep, not after hearing what Celeste had confessed. How can I be a nun when I can’t get him out of my thoughts? Her words played in my head again.I was still in disbelief; I had successfully broken into the walls she built around her, despite the fact that she was still trying to push me away. It was time to act; she had to be around me in order to stop fighting back. I had to show her a different perspective of what life is and not the one she had been trained or forced to accept. After hours of trying, I finally drifted off to sleep in the early hours of

  • SIN FOR ME, VIRGIN NUN   CONFESSIONS II

CHAPTER 26.Christian’s POV.I couldn’t bear being away from Celeste. There was no way I could even reach out to her because, for some reason, the nuns in training couldn’t have cellphones. Their rules were so fucked up. “You are turning into a shadow of yourself, man. Just go see her.” Matteo advised, raising his head from the pile of photos in front of him.I was sitting on my executive chair in my study, with my legs crossed on the table and my left hand supporting the weight of my head.Across the table was Matteo, who had just finished digging up some information on some car we had been noticing around us for some time now.“Let’s go on with what’s at hand, please. This is a priority.” I said curtly as I leaned forward to pick up the glass of champagne.“And she isn’t?” He questioned.“Matteo, focus on this please. We can’t have someone hovering around us, and all my attention would be on getting a girl. It doesn’t work that way.” I stated, and he chuckled.“Christian, my friend
