I wasn’t telling him, or anyone. They didn’t deserve to know, no one cared. Trent would want to keep me under tabs for his child which is the exact same reason I didn’t want him to know. I didn’t want to see him again, ever. He had nearly ruined my mental health and my sanity. I didn’t want another heartbreak. Besides he wasn’t worth it. He didn’t deserve to know.
The first thing that had came to my mind when Sparkle dropped the bomb was;
Tell him, Trent would be overjoyed. Maybe he would love you back.
But the image of his snarling face filled with so much hate had filled my head and I thought bettet of it. He probably would keep me until I give birth, then he would throw me out.
Not happening.
I stepped out of the hotel and drove to my company. Or rather Trent’s company which he put in my name. At least it was the one thing I loved which he didn’t take away and funny enough it was because I agreed to sign the divorce papers. I pushed open the glass doors and walked it. It was the stares that made me feel like something was wrong. Julia, the receptionist gave me a cold look.
“Can we help you” she said and my eyes widened.
Can we help you? This is my freaking company’.
“Umm you seem to realize you work as a receptionist here right” I asked and she scowled.
“Yeah I know that, and I also know that you are not my boss” she seethed.
“What?” I exclaimed, “What are you talking about?”
“She’s talking about Trent handing over the company to me” came Candice’s voice behind me and I whirled around staring at her in shock.
“That a lie” I said and she grinned.
“Well it’s true. Trent handed over the company to you. Blotted out you name among the rights to own it” she said and I have her my most angry stare.
“Liar, Trent told me if I sighed the papers then I could keep the company” I insisted and Candice laughed.
“You’re so blind and delusional Veronica. You thought he was gonna keep that promise? How naive can you even get?” She said and tossed me a set of papers. My heart shattered again to a million pieces when I saw my the rights given to Candice on the paper signed and authorized by the bureau.
“Ta-da! The company is now mine. There’s nothing for you Veronica. No one cares about you and your beautiful face”she said and I nodded sadly.
“You’re evil and one day I’ll take my revenge” I said and she laughed hard, a cold cruel mocking laughter.
“Even the moon goddess doesn’t like. Because if she did this she wouldn’t be happening to you.” She mocked and I smiled.
“Thank you for letting me know how evil you are” I said and she grinned.
“I am not evil Ver, no one just loves and would ever love you” she said and I growled.
“I don’t need anyone’s love” I said and he smiled.
“Of course” she said sarcastically. “So why don’t you get the fuck out of my company and go back to whatever slithering hole you crawled out from” she said. I scowled.
“I….”
“Guards” she screamed and I nodded. I could hear everyone laughing and I nodded. Now I know my enemies.
The drive back to the hotel seemed longer, I had to stop to try and hold myself together not to give in to the tears. It had taken all my willpower not to let my anger to the surface and rip off Candice's face. I wasn’t a violent person but the need to do that to Candice at that moment had been so strong.
I needed to forget. I needed to something to drown my sorrows. I needed something to drink, I drove to a popular pub I knew and parked outside. I just sat there collecting my thoughts, having no idea thing everywhere was dark.
Evening perfect, time to drink.
“One bottle of vodka please” I yelled and the bartender nodded and disappeared behind the counter he came back with a bottle of vodka in his hand ms I snatched it from him and tossed him a wad of cash.
“Thank you…”
“Just go” I growled, not even in the mood. I tried drinking it all at once and I gritted my teeth at the strong taste so I just resorted to taking it in sips. I could feel the drink relaxing my nerves and going right to my head.
I kept on drinking till I started to feel tipsy. Werewolves don’t get drunk easily and it would take like an outrageous amount of drinking to make us drunk and yes that was what I did. I could feel stares all around me and I couldn’t blame them. It wasn’t everyday humans see a strange woman drinking up to fourteen bottles of vodka just to drown her sorrows. I imagined how it would be and I chuckled.
The door opened and a very handsome looking man stepped in. The moment he stepped in I could sense he was no human, he had this powerful aura around him, so powerful I could feel my wolf retreating which meant one thing……he was an alpha. He looked so handsome that all I could do was stare at his face, even Trent felt like a kid compared to this perfection at the door. He turned to the barkeep and whispered something. I could feel the superior alpha vibe coming off him.
He was an alpha, what was an alpha doing here? This isn’t your territory wolfie.
Then he turned as if he heard that and headed in my direction.
As dusk turned the sky into a rich painting of deep purple and warm gold, Zephyr and I walked up to the highest watchtower of the Citadel fortress. The cold northern wind blew gently against our faces, but my wolf spirit kept my core comfortably warm. From this high viewpoint, we could see the entire valley stretched out beneath us. The grand stone city was glowing with thousands of warm torches and window lights. Beyond the city walls, the green fields reached toward the distant forest borders where the southern territory began.Zephyr wrapped his heavy velvet mantle around both of us, pulling me back against his broad chest as we stood side by side against the stone battlement.'Look at how peaceful it is,' I murmured softly, letting out a quiet breath of contentment.'It is everything we fought for,' Zephyr replied gently, resting his cheek against mine. 'When I think back to the dark days—when Rowan held the Silver Moon pack in terror and Valerius controlled the northern court
By afternoon, the grand council chamber was filled with representatives from various trade guilds and local pack leaders. Maps of the northern and southern territories were laid across the central mahogany table, marked with new trade routes, bridge construction sites, and shared border outposts.Zephyr stood at the head of the table, his authoritative voice commanding the attention of everyone in the room. 'Our goal is not just to maintain peace, but to create opportunities for every family in this realm. The new trade road through the western pass will shorten travel time between the southern farmland and the Citadel market by three whole days.'An elderly lord from the northern mountain territory cleared his throat, stepping forward. 'High King Zephyr, while we welcome the trade, some of my people were concerned about security along the lonely mountain stretches.'I stepped up beside Zephyr, resting my hands on the edge of the table. 'That is why we are establishing joint patrol
Night had fully fallen over the Citadel by the time I returned to our private suite. A small fire crackled warmly in the fireplace, casting cozy yellow light across the room. Zephyr was sitting on the edge of the large bed, gently rocking baby Zephyr, who was already half-asleep in his arms.I closed the door quietly, stepping over to sit beside them on the soft mattress. Zephyr looked up, noticing the small leather book held tightly in my hands and the trace of tears on my cheeks.'Veronica? Is everything alright?' he asked quietly, his eyes full of immediate concern.'Everything is wonderful,' I whispered, smiling through my tears. 'High King Arthur gave me my mother's journal.'Zephyr's eyes widened slightly in surprise. He carefully laid sleeping baby Zephyr down in his wooden crib nearby before returning to sit close beside me. He wrapped a supportive arm around my shoulder, pulling me against his warm chest.'Do you want to open it together?' he asked softly.I nodded, car
By mid-afternoon, the lower courtyards of the Citadel were alive with sound and movement. A large delegation from the Silver Moon Pack had just passed through the grand outer gates. Horns blew from the battlements, welcoming our southern pack members with full royal honors.I stood on the lower pavilion stairs, wearing a practical dress of midnight blue with gold embroidery. Beside me, Zephyr looked distinguished in his noble Alpha tunic, his silver crest gleaming under the bright afternoon sun. Baby Zephyr sat comfortably on Mrs. Lloyd's hip nearby, watching the colorful flags with wide, curious eyes.Leading the procession was Elder Vance, looking as sturdy and sharp as ever, riding alongside Captain Callum. Behind them were several supply wagons loaded with fresh grain, sweet fruit jams, and beautiful hand-woven textiles from the southern villages.Callum dismounted his black horse first, practically leaping up the stone steps with a massive grin on his face. 'High Queen Veronic
The evening sky turned a rich shade of deep indigo as the first stars began to twinkle over the high towers of the Royal Citadel. Inside the grand dining hall, a small, intimate dinner was being held for our closest family and friends to celebrate baby Zephyr's first birthday. The long oak table was laden with delicious food—roasted meats, sweet fruit tarts, fresh cheeses, and warm honey cakes. Callum, Elder Vance, Mrs. Lloyd, Commander Talia, and High King Arthur were all gathered around the table, laughing and sharing stories from the past year.Baby Zephyr sat in a small wooden high chair right beside me, happily smearing sweet berry jam all over his face while giggling loudly. Everyone in the room burst into laughter at the hilarious sight. 'He certainly has his father's messy eating habits!' Callum joked, raising his glass of wine in a cheerful toast.'Hey! I'll have you know my table manners are impeccable now,' Zephyr protested good-naturedly, though he couldn't hide the mass
The grand Unity Festival came to a wonderful close, leaving the entire Citadel in a state of warm contentment. However, with the realm stabilized, it was time to turn our attention to long-term plans for the future of both the Northern Realm and the Silver Moon Pack.In the quiet morning light, Zephyr and I sat in High King Arthur's cozy study, reviewing detailed maps of the territory. High King Arthur sat across from us, looking healthier and stronger than he had in years, thanks to the revived magic of the Sun Crystal."The southern borders are peaceful," Zephyr reported, pointing to the southern forest regions on the map. "Callum has established permanent guard posts along the mountain pass, ensuring that trade caravans can travel back and forth without fear of rogue pack attacks.""Excellent work, Zephyr," High King Arthur said, nodding approvingly. "And what of the Silver Moon pack house?""Elder Vance will be returning south next week to oversee the daily operations of the p
Chapter 6Veronica's POVI could almost feel his eyes burrowing holes at the back of my head as he stared at me for what felt like hours but in reality was just a few seconds." So what do you say? Is the big alpha about to reject me?" I asked him, my voice purring and my speech slurred. He pulled
Five How could someone look so handsome yet dangerous at the same time? I watched as he headed my direction and sat in the chair in front of him. I flashed him a drunken grin.“Hi” I said and he ignored me. Or rather just stared, like he was seeing someone for the first time.“Hi” I sai
ThreeThe hotel was very from our house, or rather Trent’s and Candice’s house. I had made sure it was so. I had cried for almost an hour immediately I checked in. The realization of what really happened hit me hard and I just didn’t know if I would ever recover. The hotel was nice and distracting
TwoI stared at the papers like they were relics. This couldn’t be happening, this should be a dream. No way my husband just shoved a divorce paper in my face after caught cheating on me with my best friend. Maybe it was a prank, maybe……“What are you waiting for? Sign the damn papers” Trent’s voic
