CHAPTER 15
Eagerly awaited sun to arise, Mike marched into his clinic and made some arrangements. He postponed a few existing appointments and froze intake of any new ones for the rest of the week, channeling all his attention to Sarah.
After running a few errands, he was free to stalk Sarah and so, drove straight to Imperial Restaurant. A light grey suit, light grey pants, and a white shirt neatly layering his tall masculine frame with sharp facial features– he was a standout and exceptional than any other in the restaurant.
His eyes pinpoint to Sarah sitting alone by the glass wall as soon as he entered– a single white rose would have to weep in her feet. Sarah’s eye widened as soon as she saw Mike but Mike shook his head slightly, signaling her to not react. He sat at a table across from Sarah and typed a message to her

It’s Friday and the 2 friends got ready with casual dressing to go side visits. Mike had to drag the call to Santha because Sarah is with him. The first building his realtor presented itself was impressive. The brief walk through the premise was convincing enough that this could be the best suit. A possible outcome of the building layout played within his mind-cell, confining all his needs in one spot. “So, where is your real estate office?” his deep baritone laced with the calmness of a 90-year-old, didn’t help but to bamboozle Sarah. Mike and the ‘unknown man’ are playing in the lane next to them, so obviously he was eavesdropping. There were also a few other players in the following lanes, focused on their game, weighing their aim. Suman waved his hand and a target board came in front of them. One of his subordinates placed a bow into his raised hand, which he held graciously and swung to his front, adjusting his arrow placement. Seeing this, Sarah became tensed. “Wait, we are starting? Squeals and giggles filled the contemporary space, as the girls got together, throwing their best pitch for the nightclub. Cloths, heels, and towels piled up on Sarah’s bed. Sarah stared at them blankly, sitting crossed leg on her bed as they flashed pieces of garments, hanging from cloth hangers around their neck–shifting to a facepalm– then to hide behind her palm– then her cheek rested on her palm, yawning. It is not an easy job for 3 girls to get ready simultaneously and it took almost 2 whole hours, before any signs of wrapping up were seen in the room Shoulders slumped, yawns erupted and huffs of exhaustion lingered around the dining table. A couple of shuttle clicks ended the games on their phone when they heard clucking footsteps from upstairs. Their eyes naturally focused on the source and darted up, Mike, especially on Sarah. The heat from late Sunday afternoon, pierced through the sheer curtain, gently taping on Mike’s back–the one thing he hates about this new room of his and the one thing Sarah refused to give in–SHEER CURTAINS. With a low groan, he sat up washing his face with his dry palm. The punch in the throat was an obvious sign of dehydration as he staggered downstairs, wearing only a pair of jeans. Shirtless, to be precise. A pair of plump butt cheeks was the only living thing he could see downstairs, as Sarah had submerged her head into the refrigerator, scavenging for food. After a tedious week, Sarah was done with arranging furniture in the building. Now, it’s time to focus on the balcony, the most exciting part for her. She had been meeting both Mike and the renovation supervisor, Mr. Daniel, almost every day. Sometimes she would meet up with Daniel by herself if Mike is busy at his clinic. Sarah was very professional and kept her dealing with Daniel strictly business. Daniel is a slender figure, not so tall or not so heavily muscled. He is also about Sarah's height, always well dressed and well mannered. In a nutshell, an equal match for Sarah. Toiling over the balcony layout under the glaring sun, Sarah was lost in her own world. A breeze of air, inevitable on the second floor had managed to keep her cool. “Sarah...would you care to join me for a cup of coffee?” Out of nowhere, Daniel gently approached her. Thudding low and crisp against the tar road, Mike’s feet stride fast, with each step further than usual. A slender figure in a white shirt, clutching his hip at distance caught his eyes, and everything around that particular figure blurred in his vision. Oblivion, Sarah was also on her way to the site. Unaware of the brewing storm there. After all, she didn’t do anything wrong, why should she hide? With a squeal of pep talks and a deep breath, Sarah paced past the security gate only to find a group of workers in neon yellow construction jackets and safety helmets swarming nearby the supposed warehouse space. A little shuffle here and there and she caught the side of Mike. A sharp gasp hitched in her throat and her heartbeat shoot up to the sky within seconds. Her

The sun finally gave in, submerging beneath the skyline. One by one, guests took leave and most part of the venue is bare silent. Mike is more free now. Swings of heavy legs crossed the balcony and stood next to Joseph– leaning to the handrail with his forearm. His coat had been long abandoned, wearing just the silk brown shirt. Its sleeves fold up to his elbow, sinfully accentuating his build as the top of his bicep balled against the fabric. In a way, he even makes his own father envious. “Dad...”. Joseph nodded as he drew another puff. He then extends an upright cigarette to his son. “Want a puff?” looking at the horizon, he blew off his lung's content. The beautiful scent of man’s common addiction waft through the air, into Mike and automatically ignites memory on his taste buds. Enough to rejuvenate his sluggish face. A week flew by since the company had started running. Sarah is a fast learner and she had figured out her own formula of how to weigh both her jobs. Rubbing shoulder for nearly 8 hours a day, the friends have been spending a lot of time together from meals to discussing future projects and checking new stocks. Their company’s main job scope is to provide engineering services for telecommunication providers such as building towers for antenna placement and upgrading equipment in the tower itself, ultimately setting the ground for service coverage to reach its valued customers. Mike was able to tie up a contract with one service provider for time being and that was enough to keep them on toes. No matter how busy he is, there is always time to follow up with Dr.Ajay and he did notice Sarah flying off every Wednesday saying she has a client to meet when actually she is going to the psychiatric clinic.
