Chapter 20: Fear

Jewel could not think of anything to do. She had tried to be very careful but now some kind of funny animal had blown her over. She feared that the men would come to fish her out. She was scared of being caught. The men looked ruthless and she was in doubt if they would consider her condition. They did not look like those that would care. A pregnant woman as her self ought not have been on the street at such time and she should not be eavesdropping on them. She was not sure if running was a good idea and she also considered standing right there. She wondered how it would end for James. If they both made it out of this situation, they were going to have a very long talk. She wanted to know in details what business he had with them and how his mother got involved.
