Chapter 3 Useless Sister

Autor: Emerald Gains
Michael worked faster than lightning.

Moments later, someone crashed the storeroom's door open. Michael and two of his bodyguards hurried into the room. When he noticed me—on the ground trying to push myself up, blood caking my face, and my clothes messed up—he was shocked.

But he helped me up without asking. I shook my head, telling him not to talk. Then, I took the card from him and tossed it to Harold. The PIN was already on it.

Harold took the card. This time, he did not press further. He waved us off dismissively. "If you gave me a fake, I know where to find out. Now fuck off."

Michael helped me get out of the room. I was keeping the screams of my body down, and I hobbled away from this nauseating chamber.

We stopped at the entrance. "Thanks, mate. I'll pay you back after I settle this fiasco."

He looked at me, worried. "It's chump change. Don't worry about it. What the hell happened?"

I sneered. "That was my sister's boyfriend. I guess it's time for the big reveal." I grabbed my phone and called the restaurant's VP.

The VP was the actual administrator of the joint. I poached him myself, and he was loyal to me.

The moment my call went through, I spoke without a hint of emotion crossing my voice. "You have ten minutes to fire a manager called Harold Stern. Fail that, and the Grayheims will pull out every single cent of investment in that restaurant."

My voice alone nearly scared the soul out of the VP's body. He noticed the weakness in my voice and deduced that something was wrong. Terrified, he said, "Yes, sir, right away." And he did not even ask any further questions.

I hung up. "Take me to the police station, Mike."

The officers talked to me. With a clear voice and a clearer mind, I told them the beating and extortion I suffered. My testimonial was taken, and then I made a trip to the hospital to assess the wounds I suffered.

The report came out soon enough. I was holding it tightly in my hands. Flames of fury were burning in my heart. The pain of betrayal was fueling it, and it showed no signs of stopping.

An explanation. Someone owed me one, and it was Selina. She would explain everything to me herself.

My assistant found out where she was—at her villa.

I, my driver, and my bodyguards made our way there right away. That villa was a gift from me.

The first thing that hit me was the loud and deafening heavy metal music coming from the villa. The second thing was the voices of the partygoers that came rushing out of the open doors and windows.

Selina was having a party. No wonder she did not take my call. The entrance was ajar, but for some reason, I did not enter right away.

Soon enough, I noticed a familiar voice speaking. Harold.

He was telling everyone his sob story as if he were the victim, and I was the one who humiliated him with money.

"I just wanted him to pay the bill, but he tossed 150 grand into my face and told my boss to fire me! Selina, he's impossible! He doesn't respect you! He humiliated me! He wants to break us up!"

Selina and her obnoxious, sycophantic friends played the role of angry and indignant friends.

Selina was loudly soothing the man in her arms. Her voice was dripping with love and sympathy. "I won't let this slide, Harold!"

To show her resolve, she announced to everyone, "When I get my hands on my brother, I'll make him say sorry to you!"

The trust-fund babies inside were still backing up Harold, and all of them promised that they would make me pay in a hundred different ways.

"Say the world, Selina! We'll get that bastard!"

"Yeah, show him who's boss around here!"

Alright, that was it. Even I had my limits. I raised my hand, and my bodyguards kicked the door open.

The music came to an abrupt halt, and the laughter died down immediately.

Stunned, the partygoers turned their eyes to the entrance.

"You don't have to get me. I'm already here. So, how are you going to make me pay?"

I pulled out the money I invested in that restaurant. The VP and core team resigned just to join me as we set up a new place. In less than six months, my restaurant found a foothold in the industry thanks to better service and quality of food. We became the bar everyone strove to reach.Without the funds and core team, Selina's restaurant took a huge hit. Harold's case ruined their reputation, and it went out of business due to mismanagement soon enough.I heard rumors that she tried to start a business with the money I gave her, but she lost all of it.She was used to a life where money was no problem. Budgeting was not something she knew at all.Eventually, she ran out of money and could not even make rent.Michael was the one who came back with further news. I was told that Selina was working at a fast-food place to keep the lights on. She had to work with greasy uniforms every single day and serve the people she used to think were beneath her.One of her erstwhile friends no

Things moved smoother than I imagined. There was enough evidence to prove Harold guilty. The restaurant's surveillance footage, my wound assessment, the transaction records, and his bodyguards' testimonial. He had no way out, and so he was sentenced to three years in prison. If the stories were true, he cried and screamed for Selina in court, claiming she would save him.Selina had more important matters to tend to. Namely, her own survival. She did not have a single cent after I kicked her out. The people she called friends were nowhere to be found. Then, she tried to seek out Grandpa, but he never liked her, not when he knew who she really was. And because of the hold I had on the family, he refused to see her. When she tried to go to the company, the guards stopped her right in the lobby. It was embarrassing. She finally knew what it felt like to fall from grace. Then, she found Michael's number and would not stop calling him. Day to night, that was what she did. She begged Mic

I grabbed my phone and called my assistant. Then, I opened the speaker."Sir," said my assistant."I have a message for legal and security," I said, my voice devoid of warmth. "One, they shall take back all estates and vehicles that are in the possession of Selina Grayheim. The black card will be frozen from now on. The transfer of ownership will be done tomorrow right away."Two, in the name of Grayheim Group's BOD, they will take back all of Selina's shares and kick her out of all the company's projects. Three, tell the security guards of this villa that from now on, Selina Grayheim is no longer the owner of this property. She has ten minutes to vacate the place. The only things she is permitted to take with her are the clothes on her back. Do you understand?""Yes, sir. Right away," replied the assistant.I hung up and tucked the phone away in my pocket. Not once did I glance at Selina. All the strength she had was gone. She crumpled down to the ground, and her eyes carried no

I did not hold back with my slap. Selina's head turned sideways, and her cheek started to swell. That slap caught her off guard, and so did everyone else. She put a hand on her swollen cheek. When she looked at me again, her eyes were filled with disbelief and humiliation. "H-How dare you…""That was a wake up call." My voice was cold enough to freeze fire. I scanned the whole crowd before returning to Selina again. "I'm sure you think that the princess of the Grayheims owns this place."No one said anything. I smiled, but it never reached my eyes. "You think so too, don't you, Selina? You think that you should own everything because it's your birthright. This villa, the supercars, the company's shares, and that black card with an unlimited credit I gave you."Selina said nothing, but with how defiant her gaze was, that was enough."Have you ever wondered why our father gave me 90% of the company's shares when he obviously likes you more? Have you ever wondered why I cleared all t

Every single drop of color on Harold's face disappeared. Terrified, he screamed and held on to Selina's arm like it was his lifeline. "Selina, help! I can't go to prison! Tell them it's a misunderstanding! Tell them!"Selina did not look happy at all. The cops were going to arrest her boyfriend right in front of all her friends. This was the worst kind of humiliation she could suffer. She swiveled around to me. Through clenched teeth, she hissed, "You don't have to go this far, Zacharias."I looked at her in silent frigidity. She took a deep breath and turned to the officers, her venom changing into a sweet smile."This is a misunderstanding, officer. This is my brother, and the guy you're arresting is my boyfriend. They had a little fight, and I taught my boyfriend a lesson."She tried to shield Harold with her body. "It's already late. I don't think an arrest is a good idea. Just let us handle this. It's a family affair."Then, she turned to me again. This time, she was close

The air itself froze. Not a soul made a sound. Only the echoes of my shoe tapping against the ground remained.Step by step, I approached the couple in the center. The one locked in an embrace. The look on Selina's face was priceless.First, there was shock, and then unshakeable horror, and then her face quickly turned whiter than paper. She let go of Harold without even thinking. As she tried to stand, she saw the pained look on Harold's face. Her terror turned into hesitation. In the end, she masked her fear with a headstrong mask. She remained seated, her eyes nailed on me, as if that was enough to keep her panic down. The moment Harold saw him, his pupils shrank, but then he realized we were on Selina's turf, and they had numbers on their side. That gave him the courage to lie in Selina's arms and wail, "Selina, that's him! That's the guy!"He looked at me with venom and smugness in his eyes, as if he was challenging me to do something to him.He was saying, 'See? She tak
