"Are you warm for me Belle? " "Scorching. " She whispered back as he traced his hand along her inner thigh. She could feel the ache between her legs. Christian nibbled in her ear and whispered huskily. "Then let me turn the heat off. " Isabelle blue has her life under control, a boyfriend, a trustworthy best friend and a caring family until her cousin accuses her of drugging him and forcing herself on him. View MoreIsabelle's image of her naked body lying on top of her cousin's was projected for the whole family to look at.
"She forced herself on me." Her cousin Sam's voice broke as he uttered, pointing shakily at Isabelle.
'Wh-at?" Stuttered Isabelle, her throat closing up on her. Her face was hidden by her hair in the photo, but you could tell it was really her. She didn't remember ever stripping or doing anything sexual with her cousin.
"Don't even try to deny it; we can all see it!" Sam's father banged his fists onto the table, holding Isabelle's wide eyes.
"I-I...no." She fumbled with words, her mind and tongue betraying her when she needed them the most. Her hands shook, she lost grip, and the glass in her hand fell in front of her feet. Her mind stuttered while her systems paused, trying to comprehend what she was seeing. Her thoughts tried to catch up, to make a sensible connection of the image displayed.
"How could you Isabelle? How the fuck could you do something like that?" She didn't know who asked the question; all she saw were blurred images. She remained rooted to the ground while her mouth opened and closed without letting any word out.
"I-I...I don't remember doing that." She finally managed to force the words out in a stutter.
"You mean you don't remember attending Morgan's party?" Sam raised an eyebrow. They had attended a party days before the get-together at her and Sam's mutual friend.
"Well, let me remind you then." Sam smiled maniacally.
"You claimed you saw a spider in the guest room and wanted me to go kill it so you could rest up. Like the good cousin I am, I followed you, and unbeknownst to me, you had a syringe full of a sedative and Viagra. You lied that the spider was behind the door, and when I leaned to look, you stabbed my neck with the needle. The rest is pretty self-explanatory, as you can see." Her eyes burned up, and her mind jumbled with thoughts as she tried collecting memories from that night.
She had woken up the next day with the memories of that night filled with gaps. She had assumed it was because she was pretty drunk. But she couldn't remember going anywhere with Sam that night.
"No, no, no." She shook her head, swallowing saliva past the lump in her throat.
"You dragged me beside the bed and abused me, without knowing that there was a CCTV inside that room. You should be lucky that I haven't handed the tape to the police, because if I did. You would be looking at a minimum sentence of 25 years." The man spoke with no remorse, winking at the shivering girl when the others weren't looking.
"You're lying." She whispered, her lips trembling. A silence followed as the present family members looked at the scene unfold. She sought for her mother, but she wouldn't even look back at her. Her head was hung, face buried into her hands as her shoulders shook.
"Am I?" Sam smirked, pressing a button on the remote that revealed another picture of her on the projector.
Why can't I remember? Isabelle thought, swallowing saliva thickly to soothe her tingling throat.
"Sam please stop." With the little energy she had, she ran to her cousin and fell at his feet.
"I wish I hadn't believed your little facade." He lowered his voice, his lips curling upward.
"P-lease switch it off." She begged, clutching at his feet. She couldn't believe she had been reduced to a good for nothing woman. She had seen the contempt on everyone's faces, the disgust as they frowned at her.
"'I will." He smirked evilly, kicking her hands away from his feet. "After they all see your true colors," He pointed at Isabelle and proceeded to press another button, moving on to the next picture. At that point, none of the people present looked at the big projector. They were looking at Isabelle embarrass herself further.
"Remember how I complained last time we got together that Isabelle was making advances at me and you brushed me off?" Sam turned to Isabelle's parents, staring at her mother particularly. Isabelle didn't like where her cousin was steering the conversation. He licked his lips while he rubbed his hands together.
"Do you believe me now?" Sam smiled victoriously. For someone who had allegedly been sexually abused, he awfully seemed to be enjoying it all.
"Do you see that I had been right all along?" She wouldn't admit it, but I always caught her glancing inappropriately at me." Sam stated, spreading his arms as if he were enjoying the confusion on everyone's faces.
"You know, I'd never think that way about you. For goodness sake, we are cousins!" Belle threw her hands in the air, hoping that her older cousin would drop the game he was trying to force everyone into playing. She wasn't about to go down without trying to prove her innocence.
"It's too late for your convincing tongue, or... are you worried that your parents will disown you after this?" Sam mocked.
Isabelle dragged herself up and shakily turned to head towards the backdoor. She needed to recollect herself before she crumpled down in front of everyone.
"Not so fast, Belle." She scowled at the nickname Sam used. She hated when he called her that; he wouldn't stop despite her forbidding him countless times. She ignored him, heading towards the backdoor in short and fast strides. She wished she had just stayed at her apartment, watching comedies and filling her stomach with snacks.
Before she could step her feet on the door step, she heard a clank, a few curses, and her name being shouted. "Isabelle Blue!"
Her father's voice boomed in the open area, making her whip her head so fast that she almost broke her neck. He stood at the foot of the table, his chair knocked down and pieces of his broken dinner plate scattered on the table. The older man's face turned red, his shoulders rising and falling.
"What the fuck are all these?" He sneered, revealing his upper teeth. Isabelle closed her eyes and allowed her shaken-up brain to work. She knew there and then that she was being set up. Only one question ran through her mind at the moment, though.
Had Sam forced himself on her?
A month after Isabelle's father's burial, Isabelle and Dion had grown impossibly closer. Their relationship with their mother had tightened. Isabelle was back to talking with Dylan, even though Christian didn't like it. Sam had been arrested for blackmail and gotten a one-year sentence, while Stanton got one year of probation."I don't understand why you're nervous." Sean shook his head, looking at his friend, who couldn't stop pacing. The park was closed as darkness approached fast on that Tuesday."Do you think they'll come?" Christian asked, stopping for a second to look at the park's entrance."Of course, I just got off the phone with Dion. He said that they'll be here any moment now. She still has no idea about what's happening, and they are still lying to her." Sean explained, scrolling through his phone to rehearse the speech with Christian."What did they tell her?" Christian knew Isabelle was curious to know why Dion and her mother were taking her to a local park at 7 p.m."G
"She came onto me; gosh, you always date them whores." Christian's father scoffed, shrugging his shoulders, when Christian shot him a glare."It was the only way to get you to talk to me." Isabelle addressed Christian. "She would have done something stupid, so..." Tiffany chimed in, crossing her legs."Shut up!" Both Christian and his father uttered at the same time, making Tiffany roll her eyes. She wasn't fazed by their testosterone; she just wanted her friend and boyfriend to reconcile."I'm sorry." Isabelle started, the memory of her boyfriend leaving her in the morning without a word crowding her mind. "I don't want to listen to anything you have to say. You said enough yesterday." Christian dismissed, lifting his hands above his shoulders. "Tiffany just sent you a photo of me and your father. Feel free to use it if you want to end the contract you have with him." She then turned to Tiffany and beckoned with her hand. "Let's go." Isabelle blinked back tears as she walked over
"Christian please." Isabelle held on to his hand with her hands to stop him from walking out of their bedroom."I'm so sorry, baby say something, please, anything." She begged, sniffing. Christian used his free hand to open the door and easily got out of Isabelle's grip. He didn't look back as he stepped into the hallway, heading to the staircase that led down to the sitting room and the kitchen.Isabelle followed, breathing through her mouth to get air past her clogged nose. She had to jog to match Christian's long strides. He came home late after the fallout in the office the previous day. Hadn't said a single word to Isabelle; when she woke up, she found him already dressed and heading out. He had no plans of even glancing at her. Yes, she was grieving, but that didn't give her an excuse to bring his parents into the mix. "Are you seriously going to leave me here begging you?" Isabelle shouted as Christian picked up his car keys from the bowl on top of the kitchen counter. When he
"So it really was about money." Christian spat, speaking to himself. When Isabelle had said he didn't understand what she was feeling, he gave a quick thought about it. For a second he thought that maybe something else was wrong with his mother the day he almost stabbed him. At that moment, as his hand found the door knob, Christian could feel his entire body getting cold."I'm sorry Chris, I'm so sorry." He didn't look back as he stepped out, tuning off his mother's voice. What had he really expected by going to see her? More plans from his father to finish him? For what? He grew up thinking that parents were supposed to be proud of their children. For his parents though? One was money hungry, the other one was both greedy, jealous and just monstrous. He had left his car outside the gate so it was a long stretch. He had to go past the fountain on the front yard and walk for a few minutes before he got to the outside. "Chris please! I should have been there for you, I should have stoo
"That fucking coward!" Isabelle screamed, pulling at her hair, which was held in a bun. Christian engulfed her, minimizing her movements as she thrashed around. Dion stood silently, staring right at his feet. His gut boiled, bile rising up his throat on waves of anger. His skin prickled as his hands clenched into fists. "Cowaard!" She screamed again as she hit Christian's chest. She tried pushing him off her, but he just wouldn't budge. "At least he's not in your life anymore." Christian regretted his words the moment he uttered them. "Shut up! Are you justifying his cowardice now? He sold my brother! He separated us and broke my mother in the process. He fucking tried to kill her and framed me for having sex with my own cousin. He deserved to rot in jail. How can you stand there and spew such bullshit Christian? How the fuck can you?"Isabelle was seeing red, her eyes changing from teary to shooting daggers. "Isabel.." Christian loosened his grip, feeling like she had just kneed h
"I'm so sorry for leaving yesterday without talking much." Dion stated the moment Isabelle entered Sean's office. Christian had a lot of work and a presentation from the IT team. Sean wasn't available either, so that morning it was only Belle and Dion."What's important is how you are feeling." Isabelle hugged her brother, the fact that they were truly related sinking in at that moment. It felt surreal before, but looking at their resemblance, there was no denying it. "I really don't know how I'm feeling, Belle." Dion started, hanging his head when Isabelle sighed. She held his hand and led him out of the office, towards Christian's. Thinking about his insensible, monstrous father was proving a difficult task for Dion. They went straight to Christian's adjoining room and out to the balcony. Isabelle wanted them to have space to talk without interruptions."I didn't know the view was this nice." Dion forced a smile as he placed his forearms on the railings, looking at the dark clouds
