CHAPTER THREE
Sylvie stirred awake, her consciousness unfurling in a sudden instant. She groaned in a muffled tone as she sat up, a painful sensation instantly gripping her head. Warm breeze hit her skin, bringing her to the notice of her nakedness as she glanced around for further inspection, beside her was her boss. Mikel Addams, asleep peacefully and also naked. “Oh shit!” She gasped, pulling a palm down to cover her mouth as she tried piecing the scene together. Sylvie sat up, resting her back against the headboard as she tried to remember how she ended up in bed naked with her boss. Her brain tugged with heaviness, her thoughts conjuring yesterday’s events blurry and hazy. The only part clear was the part she caught her boyfriend cheating on her. One question lingered over her mind, ‘Did I fuck my boss?’ The answer was obvious and could be considered rhetorical. A deep loud groan caught her attention, glancing to her side she witnessed as Mikel yawned into consciousness while flapping his eyes opened and awake. Instinct had him looking to his side directly, awed by Sylvie’s presence as he looked around, down to his naked body and instantly sitting up. “What are you doing here?” He queried, his deep morning voice startling Sylvie a little bit. “I- I- woke up here.” Sylvie with a stammering voice composed her response. “Why are you naked? Why am I naked? What happened between us?” He bombarded, dragging a duvet to cover himself as he stepped down of the bed. “I don’t-“ “Lies! Did you take advantage of my drunkenness state last night? I remember going back to my room, how did I end up here with you?” He questioned with rush, trying to grasp hold of the situation. “I- I was also. I don’t-“ Sylvie spanned between her response, unable to articulate a coherent believable answer. There are things her boss doesn’t know, for instance that the man he caught cheating with his own wife was her own boyfriend. He doesn’t need to know because it’s none of his concern. And he wasn’t the only one who went to drown their dejected self in drinking. Sylvie has privileges, but not to the point of messing with her bosses liquor without their permission; all because she was sad. She’s unable to confess to Mikel now that she was also drunk, because that would have him asking how that happened and she won’t be able to explain. “How dare you take advantage of me!” Mikel bashed in an angry tone, now convinced that his guess was right. The maid curled nakedly on that bed had really taken advantage of his drunkenness the night before, and satisfy whatever urges she must have been harboring for him. “Oh you women are just pathetic. I don’t understand what is it with you guys…” Sylvie knew he wasn’t talking anymore about the situation, the pain in his voice, the anger, all which has begun to reference his wife. “I’m sorry.” Sylvie proffered an apology, her tone remorseful and soft. “I don’t need your apology, I need you packing your things and getting the hell out of here. I don’t want any belonging to your gender around me again. I’m giving you just twenty minutes, you’re fired and your presence is no longer wanted.” He laid out the sentences, instantly turning around and walking away. Sylvie remained silent on the bed, a little affected by her getting fired and losing her one and only job. Memory of yesterday creeped back into the shallow space of her mind. The scene replayed, opening that door to the sexual groaning she heard, only to witness the scene that dried her on the spot. Sluggishly she dragged herself off the bed, wrapping the bedsheet around her body as she searched the room, picking up her wears that were flung around while she devoured her boss in an intoxicated senses. Now she was fired, and except for Dorian she has no one here again in the city, her both parents were both dead and she knows only of her aunt that lives far away from the city; in another country. As Sylvie packed her bags, she wondered what point she’d start her life from. Her phone remained clean, no text messages or calls or anything from the devil she loved, her Judas incarnated. Having no other choice, she booked a ticket online, deciding to take some time off and go visit her aunt in Venezuela; her home country. It was an impromptu decision, but at the moment that’s the only place she can go. She finished packing, departing the Addams mansion for good. ~Two Months Later In Venezuela~ “Are you sure we shouldn’t go to an hospital, you’ve been like this for the past few days and it’s not getting any better.” The woman pestered, above a miserable lady who had her hair held up by the woman as she emptied her stomach of her breakfast. “No, I will be fine. I’m fine, it’s just a little stubborn sickness.” Sylvie’s frail voice replied, once again objecting the idea as she wiped her mouth clean before turning the falcet on. “Tell me exactly how you’re feeling?” She demanded, leaning her figure into the sink placement beside her. “Nauseous, a little bit of headache, dizziness and fatigue. I really can’t tell, I just know that I will be okay.” She sighed, grabbing a face towel to clean the wetness off her face. “Sylvie when was the last time you saw your monthly period?” Sylvie halted her action, instantly becoming invested in the question as she herself began calculating for the time. “Oh my God!” She hailed with her lips pulling a gasp, both palms slapping on her cheeks. “When?” Her aunt asked, curiosity edging her voice. “My period comes in every beginning of the month. I saw nothing last month.” Her paled face gazed at her aunt, responding to her question while her brain meddle with the possibility. “Well we might be visiting a doctor after all.” Sylvie obviously couldn’t object, she needs to confirm the assumption. Seated beside her aunt in a public taxi transporting both to a nearby hospital, Sylvie had her thoughts figuring out how and what she’d do if she was right and was indeed sheltering a little life inside of her. What does that mean for her future? A mother at her early stage? She breathed out in her misery, resting a palm on her forehead in exasperation. They arrived at the hospital and the necessary tests were carried out. Both were then called to the doctor’s office for the announcement of the results. “Ma’am congratulations.” The doctor greeted as soon as he saw them entering the room. The pleasantry expression earning a depressed look from Sylvie as she took a seat in front of the doctor. “You’re one month pregnant with three little babies.” The doctor flashed her a smile, oblivious to Sylvie’s droopiness. “What!” She exclaimed, definitely smacked by the news. “Congratulations once again, and I suggest you register yourself down now for antenatal.” The doctor said, filing up her test results as he stretched it forward for her to take. Her aunt collected the report, thanking the doctor as she aid Sylvie into standing up while exiting the man’s office. “What am I going do? H-how a-am I suppose to deal with this? How did this happened to me? Why?” Tears stormed her eyes as she faced the realization. She’s pregnant! It hurts more when she realized how the pregnancy arrived. She sobbed on her aunt’s shoulder as she walked her back to the cab waiting for them outside. “We’ll sort this out okay.” She assured, rubbing a hand on her shoulder. “Are you going to tell Dorian?” She quizzed, believing it was her ex boyfriend who used her and shatter every piece of her heart owns the pregnancy. “Thing is he’s not the owner.” The response fell out, stimulating more sadness into her. “What do you mean?” His Aunt halted their steps, turning her to look at her. “What do you mean?” She asked again, confusion edging around her facial expression. “I never told you the full story. I didn’t quit my job, I was fired.” She confessed, head falling low with tears streaking down her cheeks. “I did caught Dorian with someone else, but it wasn’t with anyone random. I caught him sleeping with the wife of my boss, I had went straight to their bar and got myself drunk. That night I mistakenly slept with my boss, and he fired me thinking I took advantage of him because he also was drunk.” She briefed her through the experience, touched as the memory began surfacing in her mind. “So you’re saying the father of your child is?” “My ex boss.”CHAPTER FOUR Note: Major Time Jump Ahead. Sylvie and her Aunt arrived back home, both settling down to discuss the situation inside the living room. “What are your plans for this pregnancy?” She grilled in a serious tone, looking her in the eyes to read any withheld information. “I have no other option, abortion is my only choice.” She cried out, gazing up at her Aunt with her muddled face drenched in tears. “No!” She sifted over to her side, taking a hold of her palms and squeezing it together with hers. “That is not your only option, you can chose to birth them and take care of them. You can’t just kill three innocent babies.” She reasoned with her, serving as the emotional human guide she needed. Sylvie took her words in, she really can’t murder three innocent babies because of her mistakes. That’s just cruel. “B- But can I survive this?” She asked, actually scared with her tone shaky and body trembling. “You will, and I will be by your side all through ever
Chapter 5 Sylvie peered in silence, letting her eyes fed off the informations leeched around the cold man glaring at her. This wasn’t the Mikel she worked for and knew, neither the Mr Addams that took her under his wing and cared for her back then. Instead, in front of her stood a man filled with spite. He’s now different, she assumed the change’s starting point had to do with his wife. Her thoughts reverting back to her boyfriend, the night that changed everything for her, and her boss. “Are you deaf or what?” His voice jolted again, his perfectly formed lips twitching a small space in grimace. “I’m sorry,” Sylvie said softly, trotting back to motion with her figure zooming past him. There’s no way she could sparked a conversation with him regarding their past. “A filthy scum with her filthy hands, get me a sanitizer!” Sylvie heard his words as she walked off. Sylvie halted to take a glance, looking as he impatiently scrubbed off the spot her head mistakenly hi
Chapter 6 Sylvie dropped out of the cab, eyeing her wristwatch as she marched hastily towards the entrance to a majestic building. She was running late to the time scheduled for her interview, and hints were her boss was a very strict man. Albeit she had woke up early, registering her kids and settling them for schooling was one hectic occasion she had to deal with early this morning. She rushed into the elevator, arriving at the company’s fourth’s floor to have her interview. A male secretary in sight ushered her to a seat where she met lots of different individuals probably there for the same reason as hers, except they all were males, and none out of them is a female. She’s now the only female amidst them. Sylvie tried not to let that bother her, and instead began hoping silently that she gets this job. This company is one of the biggest in the city, majestic and simply rich, securing a job there would most definitely secure a comfortable life for herself and he
Chapter 7 Sylvie was not expecting Mikel to come in as her boss, she prayed, hoped, and wished earnestly for her conjecture to be funny, to be wrong. However, heaven wasn’t really on her side it seems. “Good morning, Mr Addams. I’m your newly hired personal assistant, my name is-“ “I don’t give a damned fuck about who you are, I care about answers to my questions. What are you doing here in my office?!” He paraphrased, his gaze boiling with pure rage. Sylvie found his reaction a little over the top, why was he so worked up about her in here or does he remember who she was to him? “I tried answering sir, but your words were you gave zero fuck, Sir. Again, I’m Sylvie by name, and your newly hired personal assistant. I’m here to keep your plans in check, set and maintain your schedules or appointments, manage your filing systems, and be at your best service,” Sylvie said in a courteous voice and mannerism, keeping her gaze off of Mikel. The last she want to see was his g
Chapter 8They day went on pretty dry and dull. After Mikel mandated his first rule, Sylvie shrunk back to her space with no choice than to oblige. She expected him to indeed reach out whenever he needs her assistance. However, Mikel has kept to his solitude ever since he walked in. It was finally lunch break, and he announced that by demanding Sylvie to excuse him. Sylvie sighed, took just her cellphone and went out of the office, she exhaled a longer and deeper breath after she gently jammed his door closed. “Newbie, you’re indeed here to stay, I wasn’t expecting that.” A voice muttered close to Sylvie, she looked to the direction to see the male secretary coming out of his working booth. He was obviously trying to initiate an interaction, compare to the negative aura Sylvie sensed around him early this morning, he seemed different this noon. Sylvie smiled, “What’s up with your boss? I think he hates me, without even knowing me.” She walked in his direction, speaking about Mik
Chapter 9 Sylvie tried her best to not let Greg’s words deter her liveliness, but there’s this shaky feeling attached to his words that stuck onto her ever since he said it and left. Is someone gonna be after her life now that she’s returned? Or worse, come for her babies? Or was he just pulling that stunt because she didn’t allow a conversation to hold between them? A lot of things ran through her mind, and it was obvious throughout her lunch break with Troye. He had tried to know what went wrong with her mood, but Sylvie never spilled and would just divert his attention. Their break was soon over and she returned back to her office still full of glum. She had just sat down by her desk when the landline provided on her table began ringing, the sudden shrill sound almost jerking her out of her seat. She glanced over at Mikel, to see whether he got bothered, but his head remain buried on whatever he’s clicking away on that computer. He never left the office, he just keeps ghosting
Chapter 10“You have to calm down ma’am, it’s not that serious, we have it under control even. Just that we caught this guy trying to take one of the triplets away, he’s claiming the child to be his, that he’s their father, we thought to bring it to your attention before further steps are taken,” The man explained. Sylvie recognized the voice to be that of her kids’ principal. He was calling from their school. “Huh?” Sylvie furrowed her brows, “Oh,” she sighed, her mind coming to ease. “This guy you talked about, do you know his name or anything about him? Is he still with you?” She quizzed. “He is still with us, and he’s not telling us who he is other than being the kid’s father-““Whoever that is not the father of my kids!” Sylvie chirped into the man’s sentence. “Please keep him with you, I’ll be right there.” Sylvie told him, dropping the call. She looked at Mikel who has his stoic gaze on her the whole time. He nodded at her, “You can go,” he said, and immediately walked out
CHAPTER ONE Sylvie read out to herself the text she was about sending to her boyfriend before hitting the send button and placing down her phone. She already called him three times, but he wasn’t picking so she decided to send him a text instead. Her salary has been received, and like she had promised him, she’s going to balance his school fees. Sylvie has been the one catering for her boyfriend; Dorian, since he got admitted into college. From his fees, to his expenses, to clothing, to everything else of his that needs catering. She sighed turning around to work on the cooking gas, by lowering the level of heat. She took a big stirring spoon, opening the boiling pot of soup while taking few ingredients out of the cabinet above her merged to the kitchen wall. Opening the seasonings and g
