Deth felt rage consume him when the link to the ring was abruptly severed. He pulled it off of his finger feeling its worthlessness now… which meant that Shadow had also been taken from his grasp.

Tilting his head back, he recalled the day in vivid clarity. The power coming from the woman and her ring had been enough to call him from a far distance. He’d taken her away from the pyramid, slaughtering the warriors that had surrounded her. He’d trespassed onto a ceremony that would bind her to the pharaoh indefinitely.
