Housekeeper.

Chapter 5:

I stood there, stunned and at a loss for words. The boy, approached me menacingly, and fear coursed through my veins.

Just then, Sandy appeared with a well-dressed man and woman in tow. They must be her parents, as Sandy looked like a younger version of her mother and her father had a stern aura about him. Sandy quickly came to my defense.

Sandy's eyes filled with a plea for understanding. "Christ, you need to calm down," she said, her voice steady despite Christ's threatening presence. "She's not here to harm us."

Ah! So this boy was called Christ and he was her brother! Noted !

"Who the hell is she, Sandy?" Christ demanded, his gaze turning back to me.

"She's the girl who saved Coco," Sandy answered, indicating their dog who was sitting calmly by my side. "She risked her life to save him."

Christ glared at me with disdain, clearly unimpressed.

A man and woman who had entered with Sandy, presumably her parents, exchanged glances. The woman looked at me with a grateful smile. "You saved our Coco?" she asked.

"I... I did what I could," I stammered, taken aback by the sudden attention.

"How can we ever thank you? You saved our beloved Coco." The woman asked really touched by my action.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say. I desperately needed money, but was afraid of speaking up.

"Uh, well, I appreciate your gratitude. I didn't expect anything in return, really." I said .

"Nonsense! We insist on showing our gratitude. Is there something we can do for you?" She asked.

The woman then turned to her husband. "Harrison, we should do something for her."

Harrison, a stern-looking man, frowned. "What do you have in mind, Barbara?" he asked.

Before Barbara could reply, Sandy intervened. "We could offer her a job, Dad. She could help around the house."

I gawked at Sandy, surprised by her proposal. Harrison seemed just as surprised. "Absolutely not!" he exclaimed. "We don't know anything about her."

Barbara laid a calming hand on his arm. "Harrison, she saved Coco. We owe her."

After a tense moment, Harrison sighed. "Fine," he said, clearly reluctant. "But she makes one mistake, and she's out."

Christ exploded. "You never listen to me! You never take my opinion into account!" He stormed out of the room, ignoring Barbara's call for him to come back.

Within seconds, he stormed off into another room and we all heard a door slam shut. The loud noise made me jump; he must have been really angry.

His parents didn't seem to mind any of this, surely they were used to his bad behavior.

Henry turned to me, his stern gaze unyielding. "Like I said, one mistake and you're out. Do you understand?"

I swallowed hard. "Yes, sir."

He then addressed James who had been standing quietly in the corner. "James, show her to her room. And introduce her to the other housekeepers."

James nodded , and with a polite tone, obliged he said, "this way, please. Let me show you where you'll be working."

As we walked, James introduced me to the other employees of the house. "This is Avery," he said, pointing to a tall woman with blonde hair. Avery smiled warmly and extended her hand. "Nice to meet you," she said.

He then gestured to a petite lady with glasses and curly brown hair. "And this is Penelope. She takes care of the kitchen and meal preparations."

Lastly, James led me to a young girl with bright blue eyes and a mischievous smile. "And here is Willow," he motioned. "She'll be working alongside you." I couldn't help but feel a bit of excitement about working with someone my age.

Willow chuckled, glancing at her friends and rolled her eyes playfully. "Oh, fantastic. Another pint-sized cherub joining the team," she said sarcastically. Her friends laughed along, seemingly finding the remark amusing.

After their presentation, I took a deep breath and approached the group confidently. "Hey everyone, nice to meet you all!" I greeted with a smile. "I'm Little-angel, but you can just call me Angel for short."

A few chuckles escaped from the group, including Willow, who couldn't contain her amusement.

Oh, great, we've got ourselves an actual little angel," Willow teased, continuing to laugh. Her friends joined in on the laughter, making me feel embarrassed and self-conscious.

I tried my best to brush off their mocking and maintain my composure. "Well, I may be small, but I assure you, I have a lot to offer," I responded, trying to sound confident. "I can't wait to work with all of you and contribute to the team."

Willow raised an eyebrow, still smirking. "We'll see about that, Little-angel," she said, the sarcasm dripping from her words. It was evident that she wasn't taking me seriously.

James, however, stepped in to emphasize the importance of respect and cooperation. "Alright, enough teasing," he said firmly. "We're all here to support each other and work as a team, no matter our names or backgrounds. Let's give Angel a warm welcome and make sure she feel comfortable and has the respect she deserves."

While James's words seemed to have an impact on most of the employees, Willow still looked at me with disdain. Her eyes held a hint of superiority, as if she believed herself to be above collaborating with someone like me.

But I was determined to prove her wrong. Within me, a fire ignited, fueled by her dismissive attitude.

As we finished the presentation, I couldn't help but admire each room he showed me. "Wow, these rooms are absolutely stunning," I commented, my eyes widening in awe.

He smiled proudly and replied, "Thank you. Mr. Miller take great pride in his luxurious house.""By the way, your work starts tomorrow at 6 o'clock." He added and I nodded .

Night had fallen by the time we finished and I joined my room. "This room is twice the size of my old house. It's so luxurious, just like the rest of this place," I said, marveling at my surroundings.

Exhausted from the day's events, I sank into my comfortable bed. The softness of the sheets and the mattress brought me a sense of calm. As I lay there, I couldn't help but reflect on everything that had happened. My mind wandered to my pursuit, the thrilling chase that led me to this pack. I laughed to myself, recalling the moment when Christ had almost hit me with his car.

Feeling a pang of hunger, I remembered the desperation I had felt when I was angry at the street and the relief when I had rescued the dog of Sandy. Now, here I was, working as a housekeeper for her wealthy family. I couldn't help but wonder what tomorrow held for me.

I drifted off to sleep, satisfied with the day's events but filled with anticipation for what the future had in store for me.
