“Kevin, I didn’t even realize you were back. We had lovely company,” Luke said after kissing Carla on the neck.

“I’m glad you didn’t miss me. It was a terrible sense to leave my guests alone,” I replied sharply.

I wasn’t glad at all, because I was gnawing inwardly with envy. This jealousy was the hardest battle I had ever fought. Standing up to an entire mafia clan seemed like a piece of cake compared to this. Not even the fiercest enemy could make me doubt myself. All until this woman came along, who, damn it, managed the impossible.

Well, Eddy was right. That’s for me to know. There was no way I could show the clan that even the fearless Kevin Parker had weaknesses.
