Get your filthy hands off the pup, Seraphiel”

A voice reverberated through the hall startling everyone primarily, distracting them from the heinous sins which had just occurred. A Vampire getting involved with a wolf? Abominable.

Aldric walked forward slowly, his boots clacking against the marble floor, each step deliberate and controlled.

I watched him approach with a strange mix of dread and relief twisting in my chest.

He was dressed in dark ceremonial cloaks, tailored to his frame, the fabric heavy with rank and history. Wolves parted instinctively, creating a path straight to me.

I watched how much presence he commanded, everyone was drawn to him regardless. Tearing away my focus to glance at Seraphiel who still was staring at Aldric, only he looked excited and his eyes dripping with.. amusement? What a weirdo.

Aldric stood before me but not once did I see him glance at me, I clenched my hands further into a fist, embarrassment sinking into my features like ink poured on paper, I felt ashamed.. suddenly feeling itchy and uncomfortable in the gown that I once felt happy in.

His eyes were locked on Seraphiel, sharp and cold.

Seraphiel finally released my hair and turned fully toward Aldric, a slow smile spreading across his pale face. His crimson eyes gleamed with unmistakable amusement.

“Well, well,” Seraphiel drawled, clapping his hands softly. “If it isn’t my beloved rival. You always do know how to make an entrance.”

Aldric stopped a few steps away from him.

“Leave,” he said simply.

Seraphiel laughed, the sound echoing too brightly in the tense hall. “Oh, come now. I was only helping your… guests. You wolves have such strange ways of showing hospitality.”

I commended Aldric’s response to his theatrics, I for one would have pounded the idiot to smithereens but Aldric didn't as much twitch.

Giving a characteristic condescending look to the inwardly seething vampire he announced terrifyingly gently..

Aldric’s gaze sharpening. “The party is over.”

He turned his head slightly, addressing the room without raising his voice.

“Eliana Kael,” he said calmly. “You will report to me in three hours.”

The lycan princess went pale.

“Yes, Alpha Heir,” she whispered.

Aldric turned away as if Seraphiel no longer existed.

That was when the vampire moved.

Not closer. Not threatening.

He leaned toward me, voice low and intimate, meant only for my ears.

“Careful, little Zero,” Seraphiel murmured.

Then he stepped back and dissolved into a storm of bats, vanishing into the vaulted ceiling.

The hall erupted into whispers.

I stood there, shaking and lost, I genuinely did not know what to do. Where to go. Whether I was supposed to follow or stay.

Then Aldric stopped.

He turned his head just enough for me to see his profile.

And looked at me.

Just once.

That was all it took.

I followed him.

His room felt colder than before.

The moment the door closed behind us, the silence pressed in, thick and heavy. Aldric did not offer me a seat. He did not speak. He removed his cloak slowly and set it aside with deliberate care.

I stood near the entrance, hands trembling, the gown clutched tightly around my body.

“Take it off,” he said.

My breath stuttered.

“What?”

“My clothes,” Aldric clarified, finally turning to face me. His expression was unreadable. “Remove it.”

My cheeks burned. “I… why?”

“Because I said so.”

I swallowed hard and obeyed.

My fingers fumbled with the fabric as I stretched trying to unbutton the fastened clasps on his solid breathing muscles, I tried to not show how uncomfortable I felt, one button, and two until the last in eerie silence.

I slipped out the shirt going behind him and marveled at how flexible his muscles were.

I had half the mind to touch them, feel the surging life beneath it.

But Aldric’s eyes moved over me immediately..

“Lower your hands.”

I hesitated.

He took one step closer.

I lowered them.

“Name,” he said.

“Matthuea Jade Farrow,” I replied quietly.

His brow twitched. “That is not the name you reacted to earlier.”

I clenched my jaw. “I prefer Zero.”

“Zero,” he repeated slowly. “Why.”

I hesitated, then whispered, “Because Jade… Jade is feminine.”

Silence stretched.

Then Aldric stepped closer, close enough that I could feel the heat of him.

He reached out suddenly and pinched the side of my neck, just below my jaw...

“Who dressed you in a gown?” “Eliana Kael?”

My breath hitched, throat dry, I could feel him raking his eyes all over me and that made me gulp intensely..

The pressure of his hands on my neck was tightening slowly.

Suddenly.. his hands slipped behind me to the corset that held my waist tight, feeling the ropes and I startled instinctively pressed on his body, flinching away at how warm he felt.

“Mr Aldric?” My voice came out soft in the quiet room. But all I got was a shush, one hand to my lips the other loosening the rope. My body shivered. We were in such an untoward position.

The alpha heir towering over me, one hand on my face, the other on my waist, my two hands on his chest, my eyes wide and wet..

It felt incredible. I could see him. I could touch him and feel him.

He towered all over my senses, I felt… just maybe I could take a lick of his skin, so magnificent staring at me in the face.

Simultaneously.. the moment his hands made contact with my skin was the moment my mouth unintentionally had a lick of his nipples.

We both stiffened.

Realisation setting in.

And “Get out” was all he said.

And cry? I did cry.

How could he? I thought.. my body occasionally remembering how I was at peace in his arms and shivering constantly. I was outside his door still in my ball gown.

A sudden shiver…. My tongue on his body.

Fuck.. he felt so good.

I made him stiffen.

My eyes shined bright. He was probably so shocked. I silently laughed, served him right. Hmph.

My face turned soft.. how dare he touch my waist without permission.. I ignored the soft bites of arousal coursing through me as it was way above my brain power to think about why I was having a hard on for a man.

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 125— Flower path

After journeying together for so long, the green forest gave way to something unexpected. A path opened before us, winding between ancient trees whose branches arched overhead like a cathedral ceiling. The ground was carpeted with flowers, thousands of them, their petals shifting through shades of deep crimson and soft pink. They glowed faintly in the dim light, pulsing like a slow heartbeat. I stopped at the edge of the path. Seraphiel's weight was heavy in my arms, his breath warm against my neck. Aldric stood beside me, her hand resting on my arm. Elias limped behind us, his torn wings folded tight against his back. "What is this place?" I asked. Elias stepped forward. His one good eye narrowed. "I do not know. I have never seen flowers like these. They are not native to any territory I know." The flowers swayed, though there was no wind. Their petals released a soft perfume, sweet and intoxicating, that curled around us like silk. "We should go around," Aldric said. Her voice

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 124— The Escape

Running outside the medicine garden, we had crossed the border to the west.. or so I thought. But the Mo did not let their prey escape so easily. They had been waiting for us. They emerged from the shadows between the trees. Dark elves, their black eyes cold, their blades already drawn. Vampires, their red eyes hungry, their fangs bared. Fae, small and deadly, their wings humming with power. They had surrounded us while we sat in the green forest, while we breathed, while we thought we were safe. I stood, pulling Aldric and Seraphiel behind me. The frost in my core stirred, but it was weak. The beast within me was sleeping again, exhausted from the explosion of power at the cliff. I had nothing left. Nothing but my body and my will. "Jade," Aldric whispered. "There are too many." "I know." Seraphiel coughed, blood speckling his lips. He could not run. He could barely stand. The seed in his chest was frozen but still there, a weight that dragged him toward death with eve

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 123— Absolute Zero

We were deep in the heart of Thornwood, surrounded by stone and shadow and creatures that would tear us apart if we ran. Elias walked ahead of us, his silver hair catching the torchlight.I recognized Elias... I was shocked.. when he transformed from his little face self to his human form, morphing into that beautiful painter who was a precious acquaintance. I just couldn't understand why Aldric looked so pale and Elias had a knowing look on his face. She walked beside me, her hand in mine. Her grip was weak, trembling. She kept looking at the back of his head, at the delicate wings, at the smallness of him that belied everything she knew. "He is going to kill us," she whispered. "Huh?? Elias? kill us?"But unfortunately.. Aldric didn't reply.. leaving me thinking I must have heard wrong. Elias led us through corridors that twisted downward, stairs carved from black stone, archways that groaned with age. The air grew colder, damper, thick with the smell of soil and rot. My fros

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 122— The empty throne

The chamber was carved from the heart of a mountain, its walls veined with silver that pulsed like slow breath. Moonlight filtered through a ceiling of crystal, casting pale shadows across the gathered Yao. They sat in a circle of stone thrones, each one different, each one marked with the sigil of a bloodline. Some thrones were empty. Those empty seats drew the eye like missing teeth. Elder Shen of the Moonfall lineage spoke first. His voice was gravel, worn smooth by centuries. "These heirs are unaccounted for. Aldric suspected to have 99% Fenrir bloodline. And the key fragment they called Zero, now known as Jade." He paused, letting the names settle. "No word in weeks. No sign. The portals remain sealed." Across the circle, Lady Wei of the Starlight Serpents smiled. It was not a kind smile. "Good riddance. Aldric was too powerful for his own good anyways.. And Seraphiel, a Mo, heard they were buddies? Good riddance to both." Elder Shen's eyes narrowed. "You speak of heirs o

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 121— Garden of death

Seraphiel no longer remembered how long he had been here. The chamber of black stone, the warm wet soil, the constant drip of water from somewhere above. Time had dissolved into a cycle of pain and harvesting and the slow, inexorable growth of roots through his body.He was dying. Not quickly. The Mo who tended him were careful not to let him die. They needed him alive. A dead host could not produce the rare herbs that grew only from living Mo flesh. So they kept him balanced on the edge, feeding him just enough to keep his heart beating, just enough to keep the roots growing. But his heart was weakening. He could feel it stuttering in his chest, missing beats, struggling to push blood through veins that were clogged with root fibers. The seed they had planted inside him, the one nestled between his ribs, had germinated weeks ago. Its shoots had wrapped around his lungs, his stomach, his spine. Every breath was a battle. Every swallow was agony. The plants on his skin had multiplied.

  • Sinful Desires: Fatal bonds   CHAPTER 120— The guild

The river crossing took an hour. I built a bridge of ice, layer after layer, wide enough for both of us. The dark water rushed below, and I felt something watching from the depths. I did not look down. Aldric walked close behind me, her hand gripping the back of my cloak. When we reached the far bank, I let the ice dissolve and turned to face the hills. The Mo kingdom began here. The air changed as we walked inland. It was thicker, heavier, carrying scents I could not name. Ash. Old blood. Something sweet that turned bitter on the tongue. The grass under our boots was pale, almost white, and it crunched like frozen soil even though the temperature was warm. We followed the jade's guidance. The pendant had grown warmer since we crossed the river, as if it sensed something ahead. The map in my mind showed a town nestled in the first range of hills, a trading hub where mercenaries gathered to find work. If we wanted information about the Mo, that was where we would start. The town

I did not even have time to process the tearing pain in my chest. Before I could understand why Aldric’s name had surfaced so violently in my heart, I felt it.His presence. A not so subtle presence at that. The night, which had been cool and almost tender beneath the moonlight, turned heavy. The b

Everything since the kiss had been this strange, a thing string called possibility had occurred. We kissed. It was not tender. It was jagged and full of things unsaid. The vampire world unfolded slowly, like a story that did not care whether I was ready to read it.Morning did not arrive here the way it did in the academy.
