JARED

I strolled into my office, hands tucked in my pockets. With a sigh, I collapsed down on my swivel chair. Closing my eyes, the image of that girl from earlier flashed through my mind, making me frown. The spark I felt when I saw her - it was ridiculous.

She can't be my mate. The moon goddess had to be joking if she thinks I will accept that weak thing who can't even recognize her mate as my own. Just thinking about it made my blood boil.

The door swung open and I opened my eyes. My eyes landed on Lisa, my girlfriend who smiled and sauntered over to me. She settled down on my laps.

I couldn't help but smile. "You are here."

"Hmm. A girl was taken to your room. Who is she?" Lisa asked and I smirked. "Just some stupid bitch whose father gave to me in exchange for his debt."

"Whatever, I missed you." With seductive eyes, she began fondling with the button of my shirt.

"You did, hun?" Chuckling, I grabbed the back of her head before crushing my lips against hers. She kissed me back eagerly, her hands wrapping around my neck.

"Hmm." she moaned, wrapping her hands around my neck, fueling the hunger in me. I could feel my cock getting hard and it seems she felt it too cause she began straddling me.

I let out a low groan as my hands slid from her waist to her ass, squeezing it hard. She moaned loudly, her hands going to my shirt buttons. She was about unbuttoning them when the door opened.

"Damn it!" I groaned, and pulled out of the kiss. We turned to see Mavis, who raised his hands up in surrender.

"Carry on, I will leave you to it." He said and turned to leave, but Lisa spoke up. "It's fine. I will see you later." She turned back to me and pecked my lips before standing up from my laps. She left the room after. I shot a glare at Mavis.

"I had no idea she was here." He shrugged and walked over to the chair in front of me, settling down on it.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, leaning back in my chair.

"I came here to give you this." He raised up a document I just noticed was in his hands. He dropped it in front of me and I took it, reading through it briefly before looking up.

"It's the demands of the orphanage home," he answered the question I was about to ask. Nodding my head, I dropped the document. "Give them what they want."

"Isn't it too much?" He asked, taking the document to stare at it like he was not aware of its content.

"It doesn't matter. It's for the orphanage, so let them do their thing." I waved my hands.

"If you say so," he nodded, taking his gaze from the file to stare at me. "What are you going to do about Martin's daughter?" He asked.

Martin was the father of that weak thing the moon goddess decided to give me as a mate, also the bastard who owed me a large sum of money, and gave his daughter to me to pay it off.

"What a sick bastard." I muttered, earning a curious glance from Mavis.

I chuckled and responded to his question "For pleasure."

I stood up after and walked over to a small table where a whiskey decanter was.

"You want some?" I asked, and he nodded. I poured some of the whiskey into two glasses before going back. I dropped a glass in front of him before going back to my seat.

"Okay. Now, what's wrong? You rarely do things yourself." He muttered, staring at me suspiciously as he drank from his glass. I chuckled. He sure knows me well.

"She is my mate."

He spit out the whiskey immediately, and I frowned, in disgust.

"So sorry." he took a tissue and wiped his mouth, including the table.

"Who is?" He asked when he was finally settled.

"Martin's daughter."

"What!" He shouted. "How is...well, it's possible." He nodded.

"The worst thing is that she doesn't even recognize that I'm her mate. Like, imagine how weak she is. Does she even have a wolf?" I scoffed, shaking my head.

"If she can't recognize you, then... she probably has no wolf. What are you gonna do then?" He asked.

"Rejecting her stupid ass, of course. You don't expect me to acknowledge that weak thing as my mate. It's better she doesn't know I'm her mate, so I don't have to go through the pain of rejecting her." I replied.

"But... are you sure about this?" Staring at the worried look on his face, I rolled my eyes. "Of course, I will stick with Lisa and make her my Luna."

"Your choice, bro.” Martin shrugged, and looked at his wristwatch. "I have to go." he gulped down the whole glass of whiskey before standing up. He left the office after.

I took a small gulp of my whiskey before dropping the glass. I stood up and left the office for my suite.

On getting there, Garvey, my guard who was stationed at the front of my suite bowed before opening the door. I walked in and my eyes landed on a small, petite figure, standing by the window side.

Having noticed my presence, she turned around and fear clouding her eyes the moment she saw me.

"Scared, huh?" Smiling, I began walking to closer to her, but she took a step back. Too bad. That was the only step to take to come into contact with the wall. I chuckled and took my hand to her pale cheek, caressing it gently.

My eyes locked on her pouty lips, which were small and inviting that I couldn't resist the urge to kiss them. As my lips met with her own, she gasped in shock, but I ignored it, moving my lips against hers as she stood, motionless.

"Bad." Pulling out of the kiss, I commented. "You are really bad at kissing."

"How is this?" I asked Mia while showing her a silver bodycon dress which stopped some inches after my knee. "It's perfect." Mia replied. I nodded and moved to take off my clothes. In the next few minutes, a welcome dinner for Jared and I will be held, but I had lounged around in just casual joggers and tank top, so I wanted to change outfits.Once I was done putting it on, I turned to Mia to help with the zipper. After which, I applied light makeup on my face."You look perfect." Mia complimented as we finished."Really?" Staring at our reflection in the mirror, the broad smile on her face complimented her words making me smile too.A knock sounded on the door and we exchanged glances."That must be Jared." I mumbled before getting up and making my way to the door. I pulled it open and like I guessed, it was Jared with a stunning smile on his face."Are you ready?" His question came and I didn't waste time before replying with a yes."Let's go then." He said and grabbed my hand.I

The next day, Jared and I got our things before heading to a field close to our apartment which will no longer be ours anymore. Everything was set except Sage - he was running late. Jared had called him some minutes ago but he only said he was on his way but it's way past 30 minutes."Ahh." I sighed out and leaned on the closest wall by my side. Jared, whose hands was tucked in his pocket turned to me."Should we just go without him?" He asked."Seriously?" I chuckled in disbelief at his question and shook my head. "Let's wait a little while.""Well, his tardiness is pissing me off." Jared uttered through gritted teeth.I sighed and lifted myself off the wall to go to him. I placed my hand on his chest and locked eyes with him. The breeding annoyance was visible in his eyes and I needed to calm that. With my foot stretched up to his height, I kissed him - a short one. As I pulled away, I could feel him calm down and a smile pulled to my lips at the result."Just hold on, okay?" I whis

It didn't take long before we got to the bar and I informed Grey about resigning. He seemed shocked but we wrapped up our discussion earlier and I went back to meet Jared. From there, we shopped for some groceries. I only got what I would need to prepare Brown rice with beef stir-fry today since we were leaving tomorrow. When we got back to the apartment, I made my way to the kitchen immediately, settling the things I bought before starting to prepare the food. I began by chopping the onions before grilling the beef.I was already halfway through this when I felt a hand around my waist. Nobody needed to tell me that it was Jared. Even is thick lavender scent is surely noticeable.A kiss on my neck made me stilled. I paused grilling and quickly pushed him off. His laughter filled my ears as I turned around to glare at him."Stop bothering me, okay?" I told him but he shook his head and moved closer. My back hit the counter as his arms wrapped around my waist, then he started leaning in

"Bye!" I bade Jared goodbye as I came out of his car.Jared expression turned sour. "Do you really have to go?""Yep." I nodded and raised the phone on my hand. Since my phone went missing, Jared got me a new one yesterday."You can call me here if you're worried." I told him and he nodded reluctantly. He suddenly leaned in and kissed my lips for a brief moment."See you, I will pick you up this afternoon." He said as he pulled away. I nodded and exited the car. I watched him drive away before heading to the cafe. After today, I won't come here anymore cause I had plans to resign. Same goes to my job at the bar.As I strode into the cafe, Sia who was by the counter looked up swiftly."You're here, huh?" "Yeah." I mumbled, goin to the dressing room. I changed into my uniform before coming out.Sia was no more by the counter, she was currently tidying the tables so I joined her.As I did, I couldn't stop myself from glancing at Sia frequently. I don't know how to bring Javier's issue u

The next time I opened my eyes, Jared was right in front of me... staring at me! "Why... are you staring?" I asked in a stutter."Nothing really, you just look pretty while sleeping." He whispered, a playful grin spreading across his face."Oh..." I trailed off and silence set in. Only the sound of our low breaths could be heard as we stared at each other.Minutes passed and Kyra's words replayed in my mind. I guess... she is right. The guy in front of me staring at me with pure affection and love really deserves another chance.I reached out to his face, caressing it softly. His brows creased slightly but I simply smiled and continued caressing his face."When do you want to leave?" I asked and his brows furrowed. "What do you mean?""Aren't we going to the pack any longer? When?" I aksed again and his eyes widened."But you said you were not going, so – ""I don't remember saying that?" I mumbled.Jared raised his brows but he shook his head. "It's fine if you don't want to. I just

AVERY "Urrgh" I let out a low groan as my eyes fluttered opened. My eyes landed on Jared who immediately jerked forward on his seat. "You're awake." "Hmm," I mumbled and my eyes drifted to my surroundings. My brows creased at the sight of drugs and the smell of drug. "Where am I?"I asked, my gaze going back to Jared who still had a pure look of concern. "The hospital." "Huh? Why – " the rest of the words got stuck in my mouth as I recalled what happened. My eyes dilated slightly and a look of disbelief clouded my face. "About Javier, it's not true, right?" A frown appeared on Jared's face. "Are you still going to trust him after what he did to you?" "No, it's not that." I shook my head slowly. "I just can't believe it. How is it possible that he is not human? That means approaching me was because he had something, he – " I choked on my words as tears slipped out of my eyes and Jared's hands wrapped around me in a warm embrace. I hugged him tighter as the tears continued. Javi
