I caught hold of Mia before she could hit the floor. The guy who had Mia on his shoulder, body slumped, before he laid face flat on the floor. Good as dead.

I tapped on Mia's cheek repeatedly to see if she would stir and wake up. But she was unconscious. My God! What have they done to her? 

I placed my two of my fingers on her nose, and realized she was still breathing. 

And she was.

Relief cascaded through me, I could feel my lips parting as I watched her. 

Her face was calm. She had dried blood stains at the side of her mouth. There was a even a cut on her lip. And her cheeks had dried tear stains as well.

Fuck! They had hurt her.
