Chapter 9 Sylvie's Demand

Author: J.J. Twelve
Yet now Sylvie claimed that she was cured. Sylvie argued, "We can let him try. It won't take a lot of time."

Aria said nothing. Instead, she approached Evan and sized him up. She was fiddling with a knife, swirling it around like it was a toy.

A long while later, she pulled her gaze away. Tartly, she said, "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, for Ms. Stanton's sake. Resurrect the Iron Dragon, and I'll be in your debt. Fail, and I'll kill you!"

Evan felt cold steel scrape across his throat. The swirling knife touched his skin, and the chill spread through his body. He stepped back without thinking.

Worried, Sylvie asked, "Are you sure you can do this?"

"I'll give it a shot," Evan replied. "But I need the place to be completely quiet."

Everyone thought he just wanted to chase everyone out.

William was looking at Evan as if he was already dead. "Don't push your luck, lad! Do you have any idea what will happen to you if you fail?"

He was desecrating the Iron Dragon's remains.

William thought, 'He's done for!'

Sylvie did her best to give Evan what he wanted. Everyone would leave the room, and they would clear out the whole floor as well.

A bodyguard huddled closer to Sylvie. "Ms. Stanton, the people who hurt Mr. Norwood are on this floor as well."

Sylvie's face fell. A frosty mask took over. "Where are they? Take me to them." She wanted to get back at the women for Evan. After she found out his whole story, fury took over her mind.

Evan saved her life, but those women saw him as nothing more than a toy, a replacement. They played with him like a pet they got on Christmas and abandoned him when they felt like it.

She thought, 'Do those morons really think they're proper heiresses? Since you love to trample all over someone else's dignity, perhaps you should have a taste of your own medicine!'

She arrived at Zeke's ward and was about to shove the door open, but then she heard Zeke's voice. The heiresses' laughter followed soon after.

"I think you should kick Evan out, Hazel," said Zeke nonchalantly, but he was also testing the waters. "All the donations must’ve been hard on him. I don't want to share you three with anyone either. It feels weird."

He added, "I'm not asking you to kick him out like a stray. I just want you to give him freedom. He can stop donating blood to me."

Sylvie thought furiously, 'So, not only have they not realized their mistake, but they want to kick Mr. Norwood out?'

Her face was darker now. She was waiting for the ladies' answer.

The heiresses wanted to say yes immediately, but they held their tongue. In the end, they said, "Um, maybe that can wait."

Their voices surprised them. Suddenly, they realized that Evan was redundant since Zeke came back. They only kept him around because he was Zeke's replacement. However, they never had the idea of letting him leave.

It was conflicting. They didn't want Evan to disturb them again, but they did not want him to leave either. 'We just want him around so he can give his blood to Zeke,' they thought, but they were already panicking a little.

Zeke's face turned dark as thunder, and murder flitted across his eyes. He was just trying to see where the heiresses stood when it came to Evan, and they hesitated to kick him out.

That only stoked his bloodlust further.

'Evan must die!' he thought venomously. 'Once I find that other donor, I'll kill Evan!'

He was about to say something, but someone flung the door open, and it hit the wall with a slam. An unbelievably gorgeous woman stood beyond the door, staring at him with ice-cold fury.

Coldly, Sylvie asked, "Zeke Carter, I presume?"

Zeke was flabbergasted. "Yes, that's me. And you are?"

She was too gorgeous not to look. His attention was taken away, and his eyes were glued to her. The heiresses stood up, filled with animosity for the stranger.

"Kick them out! All of them!" she ordered. A pair of bodyguards came right in and started chasing the four of them out.

The result was a complete uproar throughout Silverton's upper circle.Whether it was the fact that Hazel's former love had barged into the Solberg family's banquet, or that Hazel had run after Zeke in front of everyone without a thought for her husband's dignity, the Solbergs had been thoroughly humiliated. The irony was crushing. Now the whole circle was gossiping about Hazel, calling her shameless and disloyal.Even Stefan's reputation had begun to suffer. As the saying went—a

"Stop!"The furious shout cracked through the room like a bolt of thunder, freezing everyone where they stood.Even Hazel instinctively turned around with the rest of the crowd. The man himself had not appeared yet, but his voice had already reached them.Anya finally let out a long breath. He had made it in time. From her point of view, she absolutely did not want Hazel to have a baby with Evan—because he did not deserve that.Cain had already spoken. Would Evan even dare refuse now?If the outcome was already certain, then paying such a huge price for it simply wasn't worth it.But Stefan and Cynthia had invited members of both the Golden family and the Leighton family. It would have been inappropriate for them to step in directly, so they had no choice but to let Zeke stop everything.Anya had thought he wouldn't make it, yet somehow, he arrived at the very last moment. With a loud bang, the banquet hall doors were shoved open.A figure stormed in, burning with fury."Ze

Yet Hazel was preparing to have a baby with another man.Zeke snapped.Rage nearly swallowed him whole.Although he believed Hazel was only doing this to gain better control over Evan so she could continue using him as a source of blood, the price was far too high.Zeke didn't even bother grabbing the medicine anymore. He stormed out in fury, jumped into his car, and sped off."Evan, I'm not dead yet," he muttered through clenched teeth. "You think you can climb your way up and have a child with Hazel? Did you even ask for my permission?"His face twisted with barely contained rage.He slammed the accelerator to the floor. The engine roared like a wild beast as the car shot forward, overtaking one vehicle after another. At that moment, the violent fury in Zeke's heart erupted completely. In his mind, Evan had always been nothing more than a substitute.Everything Evan had enjoyed over the past three years had originally belonged to him, and it should all be taken back.He wa

Roxanne was stunned.Hazel was just as shaken. The banquet had been arranged with such solemn grandeur that they had both assumed Evan was about to apologize.Instead, Stefan had publicly announced that Hazel and Evan were preparing to have a baby. The shock was overwhelming. What made it even more unbelievable was that Roxanne and Hazel spent time together almost every day, yet she had never heard a word about this.Hazel had never mentioned it once.Roxanne suddenly felt her throat go dry. Her head spun, and when she looked at Hazel, her vision almost seemed to blur."Hazel, this isn't true, is it? You and Evan are actually trying for a baby?"She simply couldn't believe it. She pressed the question again, even her tone turning a little sharp."I… I…"But Hazel didn't deny it right away.Instead, she looked flustered and hesitant. She even avoided Roxanne’s eyes, guilt written all over her face. That alone was enough to show that something was wrong.Hazel felt as if sh
