Chapter 106

The ride home was silent and uncomfortable. Charlotte opened the car door and sat by the passenger side without once looking behind at Xavier.

Xavier, not wanting to push things past their limit and send her storming out of the car now he had only just got her, remained silent at the back of the car.

Carlos, fortunately did not try to make small talk, but that only meant there was a thick tension that hung in the air among them.

Maybe it was even for the better. Xavier looked like shit and he knew it. Let Charlotte deal with one disappointment after the next.

They reached home quickly enough and Carlos parked the car in the garage. He was the first to come down, but when the rest did, he said his goodbyes and left.

Now it was only the two of them.

Charlotte entered the house without a word. Some of the workers had come out of the house and were staring at them like fools. Xavier was irritated, but the headache he was beginning to spout, plus the strong urge to throw up kept him
