Mag-log inAMARIS POV
“What do you mean?” I asked, standing abruptly. “Mrs. Amoria… She’s— “ But before she could complete whatever she had to say, the door burst open. Zevian’s face twisted with fury, the anger radiating off him so intensely that I unconsciously took several steps back until my lower back hit the edge of the dining table. Loren quickly scurried off as fast as she could, but before I could take a step to follow suit, Zevian was already standing in front of me. “How’s… Amoria?” I asked, disregarding every fiber of fear in my body. But Zevian didn’t answer. Instead, he grabbed my hands roughly and yanked me toward him. “You care? You care about your sister, yet you almost killed her?” he yelled, his voice loud enough to ring in my ears. But the word “almost” caught my attention, and a small wave of relief washed through me. She’s alive. But that relief was quickly replaced with terror as Zevian’s sharp claws pierced through my hands, causing blood to drip onto the floor instantly. A sharp scream tore from my lips. “You’re going to pay for it,” he said, dragging me toward the door. “It was a mistake… I didn’t mean to, I swear. I was just trying to…” I stuttered, attempting to resist his pull. But who was I kidding? We were already at the door. Zevian didn’t listen. He didn’t even look at me. Instead, he shoved me into the trunk of his car and slammed it shut. My heart pounded wildly against my chest when the car started moving. I wrapped my hands around the injury, thankful that it had stopped bleeding, though the pain remained. After what felt like an eternity, the car came to a harsh stop. The trunk opened, Zevian dragged me out, and I found myself standing before a massive building. It was Zevian’s house. I knew because he had confessed his love to Amoria in this house, he had also sealed their union here. I remembered how beautifully everything had been decorated. The place has been rosy and full of life. The only thing that had felt dead was me. Zevian dragged me into the mansion, completely unconcerned about the injury he had purposely inflicted on me. I begged him to let me go, but it was to no avail. Where was mom? Or dad? Once we reached the center of the mansion, Zevian finally released me. His hand shot into his hair as if trying to relieve some of his anger before he turned back toward me. “Do you know what you’ve done to her?” he demanded, pointing accusingly at me. But I hadn't done anything. “All I did was pull my hands away from her, and she fell. Why aren’t you listening?!” I cried. “Oh sure. She pushed herself, right? Or here’s a better one—she threw herself to the ground so she could paralyze herself?” Zevian's words sent my heart into turmoil. Paralyzed? That’s not possible. A wolf couldn’t just become paralyzed like that. Least of all an alpha. What was going on? I stared at Zevian in disbelief while he watched me like a hawk. “I..I need to see her,” I said, trying to step around him. He immediately grabbed me and shoved me backward, sending me crashing onto the floor. “No rush.” Zevian stepped closer before squatting down in front of me. “You’ll be lying beside her, unable to move, once I’m done with you.” The words. Something about them didn’t sit right with me. It felt like doom hanging over my head. Swallowing the lump in my throat, I asked shakily, “What…what do you mean by that?” Zevian didn’t answer. Instead he grabbed me by the neck and lifted me off the ground. I clawed at his wrist and struggled against his grip, but nothing I did could break his hold. Zevian was different. There was something terrifying about the way he moved. He didn’t seem normal anymore. A fear I had never known before gripped my chest. “Let me go!” I screamed, ignoring the pain of his hand around my throat. “Help!” I screamed again, even though I knew it was a useless attempt. I was trapped in the house of a lion ready to devour me. Zevian reached the basement of his house and dropped me into the chair. With one hand pinning me down, he searched through the table beside him with the other. He grabbed a thick rope and skillfully bound me to the chair. The restraints were so tight that they dug into my skin, leaving painful blisters. Eventually, I stopped struggling. After he finished, he stared down at me. His eyes lacked any sort of emotion. Not pain, not anger, just emptiness. As if a part of him was gone. “I swear it wasn’t intentional. I would never hurt my family. Least of all my twin,” I pleaded. “Amoria was everything to me.” A loud chuckle echoed through the empty basement. With every passing second, it became more hysterical. Then he stopped. “You’d never hurt your family?” He repeated. Zevian walked toward the table and searched through the equipment until he found a small pistol. His fingers brushed across the weapon before he dropped it and turned back toward me. “You think I don’t know your secret?” Silence. At that moment, I could no longer feel my heartbeat. It’s not possible. They wouldn’t. My parents couldn’t have told him anything. But the next words that fell from his mouth shattered everything. Shattered the little faith I still had in my parents. “You wanted to kill my wife just like you killed your adoptive parents, didn't you?” Zevian roared. “How… I…” I stared blankly at him. Zevian knew. “It’s not like that…” I whispered, locking those memories back where they belonged. “Well, I don’t care to know. I simply want you to feel every single bit of pain my wife is going through right now.” He raised the gun and pointed it directly at me. “After all, what are twins for?” My breath caught in my throat. A cruel smile then tugged at his lips. “Welcome to your new hell, Amaris Dormount.”AMARIS POV “What have I said about my properties?” The voice came in clear, calm, but harsh, piercing through the partially deafening silence. I struggled. I struggled to open my eyes just to confirm I wasn’t dead yet. That I wasn’t hallucinating his presence. Zevian was indeed here. Standing tall, his gaze fixated on Giaus, who was now lying limp on the ground with a pool of blood surrounding him. Zevian was about to take a step closer to him, but the supposedly limp Giaus dragged himself away, desperate to get as far away from Zevian as possible. “Forbidden… Forbidden,” Giaus stammered before coughing up blood. And all I could think of was, what manner of strength did Zevian possess to render a man barely alive with one hit? “Yet you disobeyed.” Zevian muttered, grabbing Giaus by the collar. “But… but you don’t love her? I was told you hated her. I just wanted to punish her for you,” Giaus ranted while being lifted off the ground by Zevian. “Yes, I hate her… but that
AMARIS POV One year later. The sound of wine glasses clicking against each other filled the room as guests smiled at one another, muttering little pieces of gossip while the men discussed the next best business ideas or the companies they planned on boycotting in the new year to come. It was New Year’s Eve. A year since I was said to have paralyzed my twin. A year since I became her replacement. Not the worst thing that could happen, though. But certainly not the best, having to be around the one person I couldn’t have. Zevian was an Alpha, and an Alpha needed a Luna, hence they were considered weak or unfit without one. And Zevian, seeming not to want to disclose Amoria’s state to the world, protected her while I became the stepping stone. To the world, I was Amoria Dormount. Zevian Frost’s wife. But inside the Frost mansion… I was just his real wife, recuperating life support. “I still can't get over how pretty your wife is,” one of the older-looking men said, gazing
ZEVIAN POV I stared at the paper, looking at the picture that was staring back at me. The face of a girl with flushed cheeks and black hair scattered over her face like she had run her hand through it an alarming number of times. Her luscious pink lips were narrowed into a pout. But that wasn’t what had caught my attention, leaving me stunned for hours. The eyes… Her eyes were the shade of a moss hidden in shadow. The green jewel coneflower. A color that only one twin had—Amaris. I stared at the file again, the one I had ordered Lucas to bring for me. When I felt something wasn’t adding up. And slowly, the realization that Amaris was the one who I had met at the club that night sank in. I stood up from the chair, unable to control the range of emotions flowing through me. Something was wrong. I definitely felt the mate bond that night. That was why I did everything I could to track down the woman I had shared the best night of my life with. And I finally found her… or
AMARIS POV“Lied? What do you mean?” I asked, confused. I’ve always hated when people lied to me, so lying to others was never an option. I could withhold the truth, but never lie in serious situations.“When was the first time you saw me?” he asked.“Yesterday?”“Wrong, and don’t even try to say the wedding because I wasn’t in town for it. We’ve met before. That day at the club… I was sitting right next to Zevian.”“What day?” I gulped, swallowing the hot saliva that had gathered in my throat. “That night. It was all you, Amaris—the tipsy girl who shamelessly tried to woo Zevian… the one who told Zevian that if he didn’t agree to marry you, you were going to kidnap him to an abandoned island and wife him. Those were your exact words, if I’m not mistaken.”My breath caught in my chest.“I remember because I found it amusing. No one has ever had the guts to flirt with Zevian in that manner. I mean, look at him. He terrifies even me sometimes.” “I don’t know what you're talking about
AMARIS POV Morning came sooner than expected, and the only thing that alerted me was the bright ray of sunlight spilling through the window into the room. A yawn escaped my mouth as I climbed out of bed. When I opened the door, the once empty mansion was filled with people moving about, carrying or fixing one thing or another. But when they saw me, they paused, then one by one, they greeted me. “Good morning, Mrs. Amoria,” The word ‘Awkward’ screamed in my head. Didn’t Amoria ever tell them she had a twin? Or didn’t at least one of them see me on the wedding day? Before I got a chance to clarify, Zevian strolled in wearing a black night robe. His hand held a cup of coffee that was still steaming. His gaze ran over my body, which still had his shirt on. Seeing him triggered the memories of what happened in his room last night. Quickly, I turned back, about to enter the room and bury myself in the embarrassment I had caused myself. “She’s not my wife,” he said blatantly.
AMARIS POV“Yes,” I said with an heavy breath. “As much as I would have loved to say otherwise, I did… I killed them.”A stray tear found its way at the corner of my eye, and I quickly used my hand to wipe it away before it could fall. “At least all the evidence pointed to me… I don’t know what happened during that moment or how I got there, but I was there alone with them… I mean, how could I? They were important to me. They were good to me… at least before I poked my nose into their business,” I mumbled. “Did you tell anyone about this?” he asked. “Because your parents' story…it’s quite different.” “How would they know the truth when they weren’t in the picture when it happened? When they only feared me instead of loving me?” I hissed. “I did tell someone, though,” I said, my chest suddenly hurting badly as I held my hand to it. “Amoria. She knew because she was the only person who cared to ask… the only person who treated me differently… like I was important.” Zevian adjusted
