CHAPTER 7: I CAN KEEP YOUR LIFE, I ALSO CAN TAKE IT.

Charlie stares intently at Daisy. Daisy hastily lowers her head to show her respect. Daisy is afraid that she will tremble with fear when she looks at his eyes, which makes him even more suspicious. And if she can't answer his questions smoothly, he will suspects.

- General, my family is too poor and has many children. So, my father sold me to a rich man in my village. He is very old and unique. He kept me in the warehouse and tried to set up me as a concubine because he wanted a man, but his wives only had girls.

Chris clears his throat:

- Daisy, is "son", not "man". Also, is the rich man unique? I think what you mean is evil, which means he is not good. Is it right?

Daisy nods vigorously.

- Yes, that's right, Mr. Chris, deputy general. Sorry for annoying the general and deputy general with my stupidity.

Charlie frowns:

- Okay, tell me more.

Daisy pretends to sob:

- There is a man working for the old man to help me escape. He promised to marry me and bring me back to the village of his born (birth) to live on bread and chest (cheese).

Chris is about to remind Daisy of her wrong words but Charlie waves his hand to tell him not to speak.

- Unexpectedly, in the middle of the road, he sold me to a foreign merchant for money. He is a human trafficker. I was taken to the market to sell person by person. Finally, I escaped and run here. I am so lucky to meet the general. I hope the general will be generous to accept me. I will spend the rest of my life serving you to repay you for saving my life.

Daisy bends down and bows to Charlie. The whole story today is presented to Daisy by Chris. Chris even forces Daisy to memorize it. Even the wrong words Daisy said are also Chris's scheme. Chris is concerned that within a few days Daisy is able to communicate like a native, and Charlie will doubt that she actually knew Mighty Era before. Although Chris himself is also surprised by Daisy's natural language ability.

Chris of course knows that Daisy comes from another world through her true story. He saw her luxurious wallet with magnetic cards, and personal identification using modern materials and technology. But instead of presenting it to Charlie, Chris secretly returned it to Daisy.

Chris advises Daisy not to tell the truth, because, with Charlie's personality, he will not believe it. Or even if he believes that she is just a pawn who comes from a more developed place than Mighty Era country, but she is useless to him, she is sure to be killed to avoid future consequences. Daisy secretly regrets why she didn't study physics and chemistry well before. If she is a researcher or doctor, when she comes here, at least, she is still useful more than a marketing staff who only knows how to sell saliva to make money. Daisy's life here isn't even worth a dime, let alone saliva.

Charlie, after listening to Daisy "tells her life story" in tears, smiles. While Chris's smile is as bright as the sun, his smile is all icy, only the corners of his lips are raised, and his eyes are shining with a few sharp rays.

- What will you do to repay me?

- I... If the general allows me to stay, I will serve you and obey all your orders. I will do everything for you wholeheartedly, do not dare to be double-minded.

- Wholeheartedly! Good! So now you can pack up and come to my tent to serve. Immediately!

Daisy bows her head to follow Charlie as soon as he turns to leave. She quickly catches Chris's eyes. Chris nods his head slightly. Just that look and nod give Daisy strength. She decisively follows after Charlie.

Chris is really a good strategist, or rather, he understands Charlie too well. The supplication to serve Charlie to express deep gratitude is also Chris's intention. Chris says that Charlie is inherently suspicious, he will not be able to believe Daisy without verifying it himself. Therefore, it is sooner or later to make Daisy come near him if Chris tries to protect her. Either Daisy has to overcome her fear to face Charlie, or she will be killed.

Daisy of course does not want to die, what she is worried about is the word "serve". Whether in ancient times or in modern times, this word has shady meanings. Daisy is really afraid of death, but she doesn't want to exchange her body for her life, especially,  just a glimpse of Charlie, Daisy's heart fluttered because of fear. How can she?

Chris bursts out laughing when he hears Daisy's explanation. He pats Daisy's head:

- Don’t worry! Charlie will not touch you. He is practicing an esoteric martial art, which must be forbidden to have sex.

Chris said it out loud like that, making Daisy's face red. But this information reassured Daisy. It was a waste of time for Daisy to go back and forth to say her worry. At least about crouching and caring, Daisy can do. After all, she is a professional service person.

Daisy once asked Chris, he helped her so much, when she saved her life, what should she do to repay.

Daisy believes in Chris, even though he is just a stranger because she has her own reasons. But Chris, does he help Daisy without wanting to gain any profit? After all, keeping her life only brings trouble to him. However, Chris just wants her not to be hostile to Charlie. Chris has unnecessary worry, while he knows that Daisy is more afraid of Charlie than tigers.

While thinking, Daisy looks at the tall figure in front of her. Charlie does not allow any soldiers to accompany him. Perhaps he is confident in his martial arts, or he thinks that Daisy is inherently incapable of harming him. His tent is quite far from hers, as she thinks, it is located in the center of the camp. It is worth mentioning that in front of the tent no soldiers are guarding. Charlie is an arrogant and strange man.

The large tent has only one large bed. Charlie puts his sword on the bed, lays on his back, then shouts:

- Kneel!

Daisy quickly kneels, not daring to hesitate for a second.

- I ask you to kneel beside the bed and fan me to sleep.

Daisy staggers to her feet and walks over to the side of the bed. She hastily grabs the fan Charlie throws to the ground.

- Fan until I tell you to stop. If you dare to stop in the middle, I will cut off your hands to feed the dog.

When he says this he doesn't look at Daisy, even not raise his voice, but Daisy believes that he is telling the truth. She devotes herself to fanning him. Charlie lies on the bed, comfortably spreading his arms and legs. His eyes close. His relaxed face isn't so cruel, it is more stanch. Charlie's breathing begins to calm down, Daisy lightly fans him because she thinks he is asleep. But at this time, he says:

- You don't think you can fool me with your silly story, do you? Chris is a person I trust and cherish. If he wants to save your life, I will satisfy him this time. But don't forget, if I can save your life, I can also take it. Anytime.

His voice sounds calm at the night, easier to hear than daytime. However, the tone and damage of his words do not change at all. He still wants to kill Daisy. He says that he would only save her life this time because of Chris. Who knows when the next time will be. And at that time, is Chris's arm still wide enough to cover Daisy?
