Chapter sixteen

HAILEE'S POV.

I woke up to the sound of footsteps coming closer and closer to my cell. My eyes squinted in the bright light that streamed in as the door opened. Sebastian walked in with a slight frown on his face. I knew that he was disappointed in me, but I didn't care. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction of seeing me break down.

"Get up," he said, his voice cold and unfeeling. "You have a job to do."

I didn't say anything. I got up slowly and followed him out of the cell. We walked in silence until we reached a room with a door that led to a small storage space. He opened the door, revealing a bucket and a brush.

"Here," he said, handing them to me. "You know what to do."

I nodded and took the bucket and brush from him, trying my best to avoid his gaze. I could feel his eyes on me, but I refused to look up. I just wanted to get this over with and go back to my cell.

I made my way to the lavatory and began scrubbing the walls and floor.
