Author's POV~Dylan scoffed, his lips parting to reveal a flash of disdain as he approached Ethan. He didn't respond to Ethan's question. Instead, he turned to his workers and dismissed them without uttering a single word. They cowered out of sheer fright as they left the office, leaving Ethan alone with Dylan who was trying so hard to keep his temper in check. The silence was heavy with unspoken words and the air was thick with tension. Dylan crossed his arms as he stood in front of Ethan, assessing him from head to toe with disgust like he was a dirt on his shoe.Ethan could tell that Dylan's anger still stemmed from the stress he was dealing with his employee’s mistakes and his presence obviously must have just added to his frustration.Or perhaps, he had a tough day and his recent breakup with Scarlett and her disappearance was just another thing piling on.Ethan waited for a few moments before asking once again, “Didn't you hear the news, Dylan? Scarlett is missing.”Dylan exhale
Author's POV ~Ethan didn't wait any further. The news had left a deep concern in him, his mind filled with various thoughts. Even though he wasn't on good terms with Scarlett, and even when she had betrayed him, he wouldn't deny that he still felt a pang of worry and concern for her safety. Despite their complicated past and strained relationship, the news of her disappearance had stirred up a mixture of emotions in him. For a moment, he thought if his concern for her was because he was in love with her. The complexity of their relationship had made it difficult for him to navigate his feelings. He had no clue if she still held a place in his heart. But one thing he wouldn't deny was the news bringing out a sense of humanity and compassion within him that he hadn't expected. The silence was heavy, sharp, and suffocating.Janine's gaze sharpened, her lips pouting as she watched Ethan closely, and studied his reaction to the news.“I'm sure this news is false. Scarlett can't be missin
Ethan's POV~I stood still, my fingers trembling as I clutched the phone tightly. My eyes locked with jasmine's curious eyes which were filled with concern and inquiry. Her brows furrowed in concern, her gaze piercing as she waited for me to explain the look of shock and worry that had frozen on my face. My lips quivered as I fumbled for words. I was unable to come up with a response and this made her even more curious. Crossing her arms, she pouted her lips and raised an eyebrow..I noticed her eyes were now fixed on my phone and I instinctively tried to slide it backwards in an attempt to hide the screen from her prying eyes.“What is it you're hiding, Ethan? Is something wrong?” She asked, her body language screaming "spill the beans" as she waited expectantly for me to share what was bothering me.“Ethan?” She called once again, her voice louder this time.Swiftly, I succeeded in putting the phone away. My brows creased as I exhaled sharply. “It's nothing, Jasmine. Trust me. Jus
Author's POV~The morning sun filtered through the room, illuminating the dust particles in the air. The sky was painted with hues of pink and orange and the day was perfect for an outdoor adventure. The beeping sound of the alarm pierced the silence, forcing Ethan to sit up in his bed and rub the sleep from his eyes. He narrowed his eyes, and squinted, trying to adjust to the bright light. After yawning, he swung his legs to the other side and planted a firm foot on the ground. His brows furrowed as he scanned the room frantically and that was when he realised he was alone in their vast bedroom. The bed was a mess on his side, with sheets tangled and pillows askew, a testament to a restless night's sleep. A deep sigh escaped his lips as he glanced at the other side which was smooth and untouched, the blanket pulled up neatly, a contrast to the disarray on his side. Her space was empty, an unoccupied space that was noticeable.Ethan slid his fingers into his hair and began pacing
Author's POV~>>As the driver took the wrong route, Scarlett felt nervous, panic creeping in with her conscience at high alert. Beads of sweat trickled down her spine, her heart rate intensifying as she gazed into the driver's piercing eyes through the rearview mirror. Her breath caught in her throat when his eyes locked with hers, a hint of mischief in them. Her blood ran cold as a mixture of fear and uncertainty washed over her. She fiddled with her trembling fingers, knowing full well that he was up to something sinister and she had taken the wrong cab. At this moment, she wished she had just accepted Alaric's offer. If she were with him in his car, she'd be rest assured, knowing he'd drop her off at her mansion unlike being in a stranger's cab where she wouldn't have a clue who was behind the wheels. Her safety was more important than some gossip or speculation about her personal life. She felt she should have prioritised her own wellbeing over the fear of what others might say.
Scarlett's POV ~My eyes were heavy with tears as I drove back home that night. After seeing Eric at the hospital, I couldn't deny the weight of emotions settling on me. I felt glad about his recovery but I felt even more sad because he had no clue who I was. Everything he sees me, I feel something break in my heart because most times, it seemed as if he was struggling to understand my connection to Ethan and Jasmine. His little brain has been wired to believe that Jasmine was his biological mother. I'm more like a stranger to him and he doesn't have that bond, or connection with me. But I do. I've always thought about him, holding him dearly to my heart and yearning for that moment to cuddle him with smiles on my face.Right now, I feel empty, sad, and bitter. Not only do I feel bad about my loss of connection with Eric but Dylan's deception has left me feeling betrayed and hurt, making me question everything. The loss of being with my son is devastating but the betrayal cuts deeper.
