Ethan's POV ~

Everything that happened was a blur of chaos. I stood at the entrance of the hall used for the party, my gaze fixed on Scarlett as she slid into her car seat. In the twinkle of an eye, she's gone. The car sped off, leaving the valet attendants and curious onlookers in its dust, the sound of screeching tires echoing through the night air. Charlotte stumbled, her eyes fixed on the car as it disappeared into the night, its taillights fading into the distance.

She clutched her chest and cried out, her face etched with guilt. Alaric, whose eyes were still on the direction the car went, looked away, a mixture of emotions crossing his face..

Clenching his fist, he exhaled, his breath coming out in ragged breaths. The reporters swarmed around the party's entrance, trying to get a statement from other guests.

I dipped my hand into my pocket and titled my head, watching them clamour for a statement about the dramatic exit.
