She thought I would panic and back down. Instead, I simply made a polite “go ahead” gesture.

Thinking I was bluffing, she picked up her phone and called the hospital.

"Hello, Dr. Lambert. This is Julie. I want all treatment for Jacob Setford to stop immediately."
