Now that we were alone and in Mr. Carter's lobby, Asher let go of my hand. I felt relieved, and the fear of worrying about people seeing me being dragged out died down.

Asher was livid to his bones, but somehow he managed to act like we were a normal couple just having an itsy bitsy quarrel that would blow over with time.

His eyes were bloodshot red, and his claws were now retracted. He was not fully possessed by his beast, but he was in a distorted state of mind, regardless.

“We still have a few hours till your close of work.” He said after he flipped his watch to look at it and then wriggled his nose.

I knew where he was driving at, and I was in no position to fault him. Never in his wildest dream would he leave me while Sebastian still lurked around, not after the awful encounter. I should have known better.
