LOGINCHAPTER 2
“Tiffany, meet Mr. Yzarjadon Trevor Krick, your sperm donor,” Doctor Laurent introduced the man to me.
I looked at the man sitting across from me. He had everything I wanted in a man—green eyes, a sharp nose, seven feet tall, fair-skinned, and most of all, handsome. He looked decent, but I wasn’t sure yet.
I gave him an awkward smile, but his face was serious. He didn’t even smile back. Earlier, when I greeted him, he only looked at me.
Weirdo.
“Hello, Mr. Yzarjadon. Thank you so much for agreeing to this and for choosing to be my donor,” I said with a polite smile.
I couldn’t stop myself from feeling nervous because of the way he was staring at me, as if he could eat me alive.
“Is there nothing else, Doc? Can I leave now? I’ve already met the woman who’ll receive my sperm,” he said coldly, then stood up.
Wow. He was really testing my patience.
I wanted to snap at him, but I stopped myself. I took a deep breath to calm down.
“Nothing else, unless you want to discuss something with Ms. Monroe,” the doctor said with a smile.
I secretly rolled my eyes. I thought I could talk to this man properly, but apparently not. I wanted to back out of the agreement, but everything was already arranged. Besides, I could tolerate his attitude. This was the only time we’d meet anyway. After this, I wouldn’t see him again. So I decided to swallow my pride.
“Well, Ms. Monroe. You don’t have to pay anything anymore because I’ll cover all the expenses. All you need to do is carry my child, take care of it, and live in my house.”
My eyes widened in shock. Did I hear that right? Or was I going deaf?
“W-What?” was all I could say.
“Wait a minute. I came here because I want a child—my OWN child. I don’t want to share,” I said angrily.
I saw his jaw tighten as he stared at me sharply. What was his problem? Was he crazy?
“If you don’t want my offer, find someone else. Let’s see if you can find another man like me—handsome, billionaire, seven feet tall, green eyes, and decent,” he said as he leaned his face close to mine.
My face suddenly felt hot, and my heart started pounding. I couldn’t explain why I liked how close we were. I could feel his warm breath and smell his manly perfume. He looked even more handsome up close, especially his green eyes.
“See? You’re star-struck. I know I’m your type, Ms. Monroe,” he said, pulling his face away.
My face burned even more. Damn it. I wished the ground would just swallow me whole.
He sat properly again, looked at me seriously, then smirked.
That smirk annoyed me. I knew he was about to say something unpleasant.
“Many women chase me because of how handsome I am. To be honest, you’re good looking. Slim body, pretty, and you look decent enough. You’re tolerable,” he said.
My nose almost flared with anger. I bit my lip to stop myself from exploding. Tolerable? Did I look cheap to him?
I glared at him. “With all due respect, Mr. Krick, your so-called decency doesn’t match the rudeness coming out of your mouth,” I said firmly.
This wasn’t what I expected. No man had ever talked to me like that before. It hurt my pride as a woman.
He only smirked wider, which made me even angrier. He was really pushing my limits.
“Well, Ms. Monroe. Think about what I said,” he said, then winked at me before leaving.
“Damn,” I muttered once he was gone.
Then I remembered Doctor Laurent was still there. I turned to her and saw her smiling strangely.
“You look good together. If you end up together, you’ll be the second couple who fell in love because of IVF,” she said cheerfully.
I raised an eyebrow at her. What was she talking about?
“No way, Doc! I will never fall in love with any man in this world. Even if he shows me his abs, I won’t be tempted. Mark my words—never! Yuck! Ew! He’s so arrogant. I could never stand his attitude.”
Every word I said was full of irritation.
“You never know, Ms. Monroe. They say never say never. You’re still young, after all,” she replied with a smile.
I looked at her, still smiling.
I wanted to scream in frustration. That man had insulted me earlier, and now the doctor was acting like she was setting me up with him.
“I’ll think about it first, Doctor. My child might turn arrogant too if he becomes the father,” I said, thanked her, and left for my apartment.
Even when I got home, I couldn’t stop thinking. Should I continue with the IVF or not? It felt like he wanted to turn me into a surrogate mother.
I took a long gulp of the beer I was holding. Damn it. What should I do now? If I look for another donor, I might not find one. My preferences were too rare.
Ugh. I’m so tired.
CHAPTER 5Yzarjadon Trevor Krick POVMy name is Yzarjadon Trevor Krick.I am thirty-three years old. I stand seven feet tall. I have green eyes, a face people call handsome, and a body built from years of professional sports. I am famous, rich, and powerful—a billionaire many times over.I am half Filipino. My mother is Filipina, but I grew up in Germany. I speak several languages, live in different countries, and own more things than I can count. And yet, after everything I’ve seen and endured, there is only one truth I can hold onto.Life sucks.I sat inside a high-end restaurant in Paris, tapping my fingers slowly on the polished wooden table. The place belonged to my friend Sebastian Garnier. He was French like me, also a billionaire, and just as busy as I was. His businesses were spread across different countries, and this restaurant was only one of many things he owned. The air smelled of expensive wine and freshly cooked food, but I wasn’t here to eat.I was waiting. When the m
CHAPTER 4After we finished eating at one of the well-known restaurants in Paris, Au Bourguignon du Marais, David and I said goodbye to each other.“I’m heading out now, girl. You know already… I’m meeting another boy nearby,” he said, sounding excited. He took out a small mirror from his shoulder bag and checked himself.“There you go again with your boys. If you end up with HIV one day, don’t say I didn’t warn you,” I said while fixing myself. He just laughed. After finishing fixing his look, he waved goodbye.“I’m going now. He’ll get mad if I’m late again,” he said.I nodded and hugged him back when he hugged me.After he left, I fixed myself again.I take good care of myself and I’m very picky about how I look. I even changed my clothes before we ate. Now, I was wearing a white lace boned corset top and pants, Essentielle round gold hoop earrings, and my square-shaped sunglasses.I tied my slightly curly hair into a bun since it was hot. I decided to go to a coffee shop. I only n
CHAPTER 3“Hello, David? I’m almost there. Where are you now?” I asked while driving through the busy streets of Paris.“Oh my God! You! Where are you now, you crazy woman?!” he shouted on the phone.Yes, he’s Filipino, too. He became my editor just last year, and we grew close because he’s the only Filipino at ZHR.“You’re late again, girl! Your readers are already here. They’re all lined up at your table. Where did you go last night? Did you find another sugar daddy again, huh?”He was talking about a sugar daddy. As if I’m into old men. I don’t even see myself getting married or dating right now—what more a sugar daddy?“Hey! I’m not whatever you’re thinking, okay?” I said.“Damn you, girl! Fine, fine, I’m joking. But seriously, where are you now?” he asked.I put on my sunglasses and face mask, stopped the car at the side of the road, and wrapped a scarf around my head. I also learned how to dress fashionably since Paris is known for fashion. I even saw Heart Evangelista during Fa

CHAPTER 1I am currently standing on my balcony. It’s already ten in the evening, yet I’m still outside, holding a glass of wine and slowly sipping from it. My eyes are fixed on the flickering lights coming from houses, towering buildings, shops, malls, street lamps, and countless other sources of illumination. I can see all of it clearly from the balcony of my apartment here in Paris, France. It’s been ten years since I came here. Ten years since I pursued my career as a writer.A bitter smile forms on my lips as a thought crosses my mind. It has been years since I last had any contact with my family, with my friends— with anyone from my past. Ten years ago… I chose to run away. After I graduated from college, I simply disappeared.I still remember how Mommy and Daddy tried calling me over and over before I went far away, but I ignored them. I even threw away my SIM card. I deleted all my social media accounts as well.I press my fingers against my temple when a sharp pain suddenly t
