Kyle King
I arrived at the courthouse with Ava, my mom, and Xavier, who had finally decided to stand by me, but he made it clear that anything that happened, I should accept it. The media houses had heard about the case and were all over the place. Immediately, they saw me, and they rushed over, trying to get a statement. Ava gave one, blaming everything on Tessa. She claimed Tessa was jealous that I chose her and plotted with her family to bring me down. This instigated excitement among the media team, and they asked more questions, but the warning glare from me made Ava keep quiet. We had already had an argument about the case, and she blamed me for being careless. If I hadn't let my guard down and put Xavier in charge, the Roberts wouldn't have found out about the money. I wanted badly to agree with her, but it wasn't Xavier`s fault but mine alone. I made a mistake, and I was going to pay badly for it. Ava didn't agree and promised to fight the Roberts family if they tried taking any of our properties. She couldn't imagine herself returning to her father and begging for assistance, not after she had insulted him and warned him never to visit our home. Attorney Smith led us into the courtroom, and the proceedings started. I was called several times to answer questions and defend myself, but Robert`s attorney was brilliant and ended up placing a judgement on my case before the judge came to a conclusion. A red-haired lady was also called by the attorney to explain the contract details and how Robert`s family discovered I was moving the profits to my personal account. Attorney Smith questioned her, and she provided evidence to prove her statements. I thought she looked familiar, but I didn't care. The Robert family had come prepared. After a thirty-minute recess, the judge read out my judgement. I was to repay the twenty million dollars for the project, pay a settlement of ten million dollars, and return the profits, which were five hundred thousand dollars. The judge also stated that the Roberts family was willing to collect the house and cars as a settlement for the ten million dollars. I was given ten days to settle, or I will be thrown in jail. I gasped. I couldn`t be homeless at this point, and no, not the cars. Ava won't even let them take her Corvette. The judge ended the case and walked away. Attorney Smith breathed deeply and advised me to hand over the house and cars. I still had the condo and the company's car, so it wasn't bad, but I reminded him that I still needed to repay the twenty million dollars. `I am sorry, Kyle, but I think you will have to sell the condo and those bonds you have with the banks. That's the only way you can repay them, or else they will arrest you,Attorney Smith said, leading me outside the courtroom. I sighed. I couldn't lose everything and return to zero. No. There has to be another way. `Can`t I meet them for some form of arrangement? If I sell the house and condo, I will have to move to my mother's house, and I don't think Ava would like that.` He chuckled. `You should be thankful they didn`t push for your arrest. What you did was wrong, but if you feel speaking with them would help out, then try. I will be waiting here.`I strolled towards them. The red-haired woman was talking excitedly to a police officer. I wondered if it had to do with me.
`Hello, please, I would like to speak to Mr. Robert.` I said, staring at the red-haired lady. Her face was concealed with big black sunglasses and a hat, so I couldn`t capture her face. She replied coldly. `He's busy. If you want to speak with him about the court judgement, forget it. We aren't changing our decision, Kyle King!` I felt the coldness and the anger in her words, but that didn't stop me from pushing it. `I am deeply sorry for everything, Miss. Please, I really need to speak with him or James.` I said, scanning the crowd for them, but I didn't see them, which means they were in the car. `Nice. You finally learned to apologise, Kyle, but trust me, it doesn't suit you.` she chuckled. `Anyway, you can't see them because they`re in a meeting at the moment. Have a good day.` Wait. Did she just say I finally learned to apologise? That means she knew me. But, who was she? An old client? An old employee? I started to ask where she knew me from when James stepped out of the vehicle. He didn't seem pleased to see me. `Sis, please, get into the car. Dad wants us to visit one of his family friends before heading home,` he said, signalling to Chauffeur to open the other side of the car. I stared at the lady as realisation hit me. Tessaa! She looked different. `Tessa. Is that you?` I asked, holding my breath. She flashed a wicked smile. `I don't answer questions from criminals. I hope we meet again, Kyle King. Enjoy your life!` `Yeah, Kyle. Don`t be shocked. Tessa has been with us for months, unlike what your sister told you. We annulled the dissolution and forgave her for marrying a criminal. As you can see, she's better and more beautiful than when she was living in your house. Anyway, you don't need to know the details. You have ten days to pay everything, or you will be sleeping in a bunk in Dell Prison,` he said, entering the car. I wanted to speak, but my lips could not form any words. I watched their car drive off while Xavier walked towards me, demanding to know what happened. I had nothing to say because I also didn't understand what happened.Geneveive Tessa RobertI certainly couldn't have predicted what happened at the courthouse today. The disguise I pulled off, the testimony, and the open confrontation with Kyle. I wasn't surprised that Kyle didn't recognise me at the witness stand due to the dark sunglasses that shaded my eyes and my red hair. Also, thanks to the pregnancy, I gained weight. I looked fuller and healthier than before. If only James hadn't called me Sis, the idiot wouldn't have recognised me. Thank God I dropped some wincing statements before the chauffeur drove off. I could still see the lost and confused expression on his face when I admitted it was me. I wonder what he will be doing now. Probably regretting that he divorced me and plotting a way to seek forgiveness so that Dad could do an out-of-court settlement. I knew the way Kyle`
Geneveive Tessa RobertI consoled myself, refocusing on the phone call: `We are leaving at the beginning of next month. Mom wants to take care of some businesses before we leave. You know we will be starting an interior decoration company too. So, she wants to ensure that the plans and funds are ready before we leave.``Alright, babe. I wish I could move with you, but my company refused to sign my transfer letter, and I can't resign because of my contract. Please take care of Hope and Nicholas for me. I am going to find a way to visit you guys,` she sniffed.I couldn't help but get emotional too. I was going to miss Vee, all our shopping adventures, and her expensive eating habits. If not for her, I would have probably not rekindled my relationship with my parents and James. I also would not have healed or accepted the fact that Kyle left me with someone else.I sniffed too: `Don`t cry, Vee. You can always visit,
Kyle KingEverything had happened so fast that I was almost losing my mind. The court case and the unexpected appearance of Tessa. The first fight with Ava and now, another, I was sitting in a room filled with my board of executives while my mom was doing her best to convince them to stay and look for clients who would help the company's profits. The ultimatum to pay the Roberts had been increased, thanks to Xavier, who worked hard to secure a meeting with James. We had a week to go, and I had not gotten close to the amount I was expected to pay. It wasn`t as if I didn't have the money, but they invested in Ava`s Porsche and my six-bedroom flat with four bathrooms, a swimming pool, and a game room. I couldn`t watch my flat go because of the bills, and I couldn`t also sell Ava`s Porsche because she had my mom
Kyle King`It's almost time, mom. Let me be on my way, and please, promise me, you won't do anything to jeopardise this meeting. If he can help us, I will do anything he asks of me. Anything to escape a jail term in Nashville`s State Prison.`Mom could do anything to stop him from helping me. I knew what she was capable of doing, but I also had to remind her about the jail term. Just in case, she thought she could act without thinking about the consequences. She smiled tightly. `I promise not to do anything, but don't say I didn't warn you when he comes for his payment, Kyle. I have known your uncle longer than you.`I replied using the same tone she used. `And don't say I didn`t beg you to allow me to sell the house and Porsche to avoid meeting him, and you refused. I have known you longer than my uncle, and you still refused to help me out.`She stood up slowly. His eyes were glowing with anger. `I am doing what's r
Kyle KingTell him something that is feasible and productive. He's the only chance you have right now. Hewas probably was probably observing me, trying to capture what I was thinking up in my head. I arranged my words in sequence, starting with a bullet point and ending with a plea.I cleared my throat, holding his gaze.. `There's a major business deal that my team is working on with a new company. We will be in charge of their branch building construction and furnishings. If the deal comes through, all profits will be paid into your account. It's probably about ten million dollars, Uncle.` `So, the repayment is based on probability. Alright, let me ask you this: HowHow do you intend to pay your team if I take all the profits?`I sighed. Another loophole II forgot to fill. Owe them till another deal comes in? `I will create a payment plan for their salaries, sir. They`re my team, team, and they understand what we have been facing for the last few months.`He chuckled, `You won't
Geneveive Tessa RobertThe joy of simple things. Laughter, tears, and happiness. Family, love, and friendship I rolled my sweater and adjusted my sleeves. This was my last week in Arizona. I was going to miss everyone who made me happy, especially my dad and James. Funny how I thought James was going to be the headache I had to survive in the house, and he turned out to be a vital help in my recovery process.I had created the interior design company business plans, and with the help of James, we had succeeded in convincing my dad to go ahead with his investment. I scrolled through my to-do list. Kyle. I wasn't done with him yet, but I was going to give him a break for now since he had succeeded in paying what he owed. His company seemed to be picking up, and James suspected someone was behind the sudden miracle.I wasn't surprised, though. Kyle`s family was one of the most respected in Nashville, and they had a lot of connections who could assist them in terms of finances. Also, Kyle
Kyle KingWhen I walked in, Romina cleared the table. My mom and Ava hadn't bothered to wait for me. This has been going on for two weeks since I decided to halt my marriage decision. I felt I was seeing someone, and three times I caught her showing up at places where I held meetings with clients. Mom wasn't helping. She had started bringing up topics about children and how starting to make plans about them early helped. She had even gone ahead to show up with flyers on how to make babies as a couple when I was having a serious meeting with Xavier. When I complained about her behavior, she reminded me about the wasted years with Tessa and warned me not to waste Ava. According to the family, or so she claimed, Ava was or is fertile, and the earlier I get on her, the better for the family generation.I was mortified. What kind of mother walks into her son's sexual life like it was some talk show?I picked an apple and nodded at Romina. ‘Where are they?’ Romina looked up, then focused on
Kyle KingWould it end the chaos? I know it won`t. Uncle David was a family relative who wouldn’t take advantage of me, especially at my lowest point. He wouldn’t dare.‘It won’t end in chaos. I know it won't,’ I repeated. He is family, and I am certain he won’t try anything that will make my mom start a war against him. He fears her and her family.’ He smiled. ‘Of course. Who won’t fear your mom? She is as cold as ice and holds grudges like it’s a game. I always try my best to avoid her, and I hope your uncle does the same. You didn’t tell her about the deal, right?’ I shook my head negatively, ‘No, I didn’t. That would be stupid of me, wouldn’t it? Besides, you know she won’t approve. She hates Uncle Dave so much, like he’s the devil’s advocate.’ He laughed. ‘Your uncle was a terror during the heydays of the company’s battle of the heads. Enough of the company’s talk, though. How’s Ava? I'm surprised she’s still here.’ I breathed lightly. Thank heavens for the change of topic.
