The moment Selene stepped into the pack’s borders, the harsh words cut through the  air.

“ There she comes. ”

“ Luna Selene, ” one of them said, his voice hard. “ By Alpha Rylan’s orders, you're under arrest. ”

Fear grazed her skin as two warriors grabbed her arms roughly. And tying them behind her back.

Selene’s breath hitched.

“ What? ” she whispered , stunned.

Before she could reply, they seized her arms.

A rush of fear shot through her. “ Wait, what is this about? ” She struggled against their grip, but they held her firmly.

“ You’ll find out soon enough, ” the second warrior said grimly.

Her mind swirling. Was this because she left the pack without permission? Had Rylan returned and found her missing?

Why is she been held against her wish?

Fear nearly crippled her. She could barely move her legs.

On their way, other warriors and pack members whispered, watching with wide eyes.

The look of surprise spread through their faces. Some pointed at her, shaking their heads in pity.

The sympathetic gaze made her stomach twist in agony.

By the time she was shoved inside, her legs wobbled with fear.

The sight before her froze her in place.

Elders. What are they doing here?

Rylan, her mate, pinned a cold gaze on her. She swallowed hard.

The council of Elders stood, exuding power and influence, their robes heavy, their eyes darker than the night itself.

Rylan’s back was turned towards her. And slowly he turned facing her. Her heart leaped in fear. As his eyes pierced through her, burning with rage.

She swallowed hard, her throat dry. “What have I done? Tell them to untie me.”

Rylan’s response was a deafening roar.

“ Silence! ”

The sheer force of it made her shiver.

His rage was a force, creaking in the air like lightning before a storm.

Her lips parted in shock. “ Rylan, what’s going on? ”

“ Where were you? ” His voice was cold, devoid of any warmth.

Selene wavered. “ I — I went to see a friend. ”

Rylan’s eyes narrowed. His jaw tightened. also his voice dropped, dangerously quiet.

“ Let me guess, ” he sneered. “ You went to see that fool, Kieran. After I advised you not to. ”

Selene’s breath hitched.

She couldn’t deny it.

But before she could explain, Rylan’s voice thundered through the chamber.

“ I know everything. ”

He took slow dangerous steps towards her, looming. And then he clenched her jaw with his large hand, his fingers digging into her skin.

“ I know about your secret meeting, ” he continued, his voice sharp as a blade. “ I know about the blood bond. ”

Selene froze

A blood bond?

Her lips parted in disbelief. “ What … What are you talking about? ”

Rylan lifted his hand.

And in his palm,  a vial filled with blood.

Selene’s knees nearly gave out.

Her blood.

How?

“ This, ” Rylan showed her, shaking the vial. “ This is proof of your treason and betrayal. ”

Selene shook her head frantically. “ No, no that’s not true! Rylan, I would never — ”

“ lies! ” His voice cracked like a wipe.

She was shattered.

This wasn’t happening to her. What is going on?

Then, a voice cut through the chaos.

“ I saw her. ”

Selene turned sharply.

A young maid stepped forward, her hands clasped in front of her, eyes filled with false sincerity.

“ I followed her last night. She was with Alpha Kieran, ” the maid said, voice thick with lies. “ I heard them talking about how they would join forces with the rogues. About how they would — ” she swallowed — “ kill you, Alpha. ”

Selene’s entire body went cold.

She staggered back.

The room spun.

“ No, ” she blurted in defence, shaking her head violently. “ That’s not true! I never — never said that! ”

The maid’s expression remained pitiful, her voice soft. “ I wish it wasn’t true, Luna. But I heard it with my own ears. ”

Selene turned to Rylan, her eyes hopeless. “ You can’t believe this. I went to see Kieran because I was trying to help the pack! To stop the rogue attacks ”

Rylan scoffed.

“ You were trying to help the pack? ” He laughed, a bitter, humorless sound. “ By sleeping with Kieran? ”

Selene’s stomach dropped.

“ What? ” she screamed .

His golden eyes darkened.

“ I saw it, ” he growled. “ I saw the visions. You and Kieran — together. You’ve been with him behind my back. ”

Selene’s breath came in short gasps.

This was agony.

How could Rylan believe this?

She seized his arm, desperate. “ Rylan, hear me! Someone is lying to you, someone is manipulating you! ”

His hand jerked away from hers like she was a plague.

The rejection in his eyes shattered something inside her.

“ You disgust me, ” he said coldly.

Tears burned her eyes.

“ No, ” she replied . “ Rylan, please. You have to investigate this … ”

His voice boomed. “ Enough! ” His breathing was ragged, his body pulsing with rage.

Then  his next words were a blade to her heart, piercing through and leaving nothing but pain.

“ I, Alpha Rylan of the Nightfang Pack, reject you, Selene, as my mate. ”

A sharp, searing pain tore through Selene’s chest.

Her bond with Rylan severed.

In deep agony, she shattered the air with a deafening scream. Her chest burned her with intensity.

Panic throbbed through her and her eyes rolled back. A terrible ache pounded in her head.

Her heart shattered into a tiny million pieces.

Suddenly, she felt nothing. Not even the bond that once held them as mates could be felt.

How could Rylan believe them without giving her a listening ear.

Out of love and duty for her pack, she did this. And now the world spoke against her.

The man she loves treated her like scum..like a criminal.

Betrayed.

Broken.

Shattered.

Her mate stood, watching her with a venomous glare

Then, Elder Vulcan’s voice crawled through the room. “ That’s not enough. ”

Silence fell.

Selene’s teary eyes danced around in confusion.

Not enough?

What more could they take from her?

What other punishment could be greater than losing her mate?

Vulcan’s lips curled into a cruel smile.

His coming words were cold as ice slammed into her body.

“ She must die. ”

Peace settled over the twelve packs. The raw edges of war had begun to smooth over, leaving scars that would forever mark the land and its people, but they were scars, not open wounds. The packs were filled with laughter and happiness. Now, the Alphas, once rivals, worked side by side, their old grievances buried with their dead. They were rebuilding their lands, restoring their homes, and guiding their people with a strength that was no longer born of aggression, but of shared survival. At the very heart of this fragile new world, stood Selene and Kael. They had not seized power; it had been given to them, a mantle settled upon their shoulders by the unanimous consent of the other Alphas. They had been chosen, not by force but by a desperate hope for unity, to lead the twelve packs. Together, they shouldered the immense weight of the packs’ future.Kael was a great support to Selene. A shoulder for her to lean on.Often, when they sat in the great hall for meetings with the counc

Days turned into weeks, and while the outside world started to heal, Selene stayed curled up in her room, wallowing in sorrow. Everywhere in the room was the ghost of Rylan's memory and the walls seemed to echo his name. The packs were assembled on the day of the funeral in Moon Cliff Valley's hallowed grounds, which were made for the remembrance of fallen heroes. Incense permeated the air and it reminded them of the scent of wildflowers. In the middle, was a huge stone pyre with flames licking upward toward the sky as though to transport his soul home. With their warriors in perfect ranks behind them, all twelve Alphas stood in solemn silence. Although they were greatly affected by the loss, each person's expression of gratitude was even more profound. The Alphas came up to Selene one by one, lowering their heads to console Selene. She stood there staring into space like a lost soul. Her eyes were red-rimmed and sunken from days of grief and sorrow.Everything reminded her of Ryl

Kael's words had caused a thick, oppressive silence to descend upon the room. It was like a physical burden that sucked air from their lungs and pressed down on them.Selene paced the dusty stone floor back and forth. Her heart pounded in a rhythm of terror, like a wild drum against her ribs. “That's it? The solution to putting an end to it all is my blood?”The thought of it made her chest ache. She could barely breathe properly. This was more than the burden she had carried as a Luna. Ethan had a mask of anguish on his face. “Selene, you need to calm down. There must be another way.”Kael turned around facing them. He knew it would be difficult to accept. They all came here in search of answers but one of them won't be returning. With his hands shoved in his pockets. He leaned on the wall. “I would have told you if there was another way.” He despises being the one to bring bad news, but he has to say it without mincing words.Rylan lost control. “Wipe that smug look off your fac

Selene opened her eyes first. For a moment, she thought she was dead. Only to find herself lying on a make-shift bed. And her body felt lighter. When her hazy vision gradually improved, she noticed a figure standing, his back facing her.His broad frame was outlined in gold as sunlight streamed through the broken wooden shutters. “I see you're awake,” Kael Duskborn said in a deep voice. He turned, holding a cup, and Selene, propped feebly on her elbow, almost froze. She had never seen a man so handsome. His towering physique exuded power with muscles expertly chiseled. He exuded controlled power in every movement; his shoulders were broad, and his chest was firm. From his jawline down his neck, a jagged scar ran, but rather than leaving a scar, it gave him a tough, dangerous beauty. His dark hair cascaded wildly around his face, and his intense, penetrating eyes caused her throat to tighten. With slow, measured steps as if he knew the impact he had on her, he approached her, and S

Early in the morning, the compound was filled with low murmuring sounds. Selene stood in the centre of the compound. She was fully prepared for the trip but her heart was racing. This was the most difficult trip she had ever taken. She stood with Kieran, Ethan, and Rylan. All of them were prepared and armed. Their friends and some pack members gathered to bid them farewell. Bethar was the first to stand up. He looked at Selene with gentle eyes. And gave her a tight hug. “My Luna, I hope you travel safely,” he muttered. “Return to us in one piece. The pack needs you.” With a slight smile, Selene hugged him again before withdrawing gently. “Thank you Bethar. Watch over the pack in my absence.”“I will,” he promised. With a respectful nod, he took a step back. Fea came next. She had a very anxious expression. And refused to let go of Selene. “Please, you have to be careful out there. It's not safe anymore,” she said in a hushed tone.Selene smiled at her. “I will be alright and I wil

  • THE FORSAKEN LUNA; Moonfire Reborn   Chapter 188; A Solution

The appearance of the red moon had caused havoc in all twelve packs. The horror didn't stop there. When the sun rose at dawn, many believed the nightmare was over but the sky became abnormally dark. Near the forest's edge, two wolves from the Ridgewood pack were on patrol. They thought they would be safe during the day. Unknown to them, something more horrific was about to happen. Above the trees, a sharp scream pierced through. And more wild birds jumped down from the tree before either wolf could respond. Like blades, wings slice through the air. After transforming back into a human, one wolf pulled out his sword. “Kill them!” he screamed. In response, the creatures let out shrieks. With unnatural force, they crashed into the wolves. Claws dug into flesh and their fur. Blood splattered on the grass. One of the creature's bodies vanished into black smoke and appeared behind the second wolf. The monster slashed into his neck causing it to bleed. As the other warrior screamed in p
