Who knew you’d be so foolish? You walked into some stranger’s room instead…”
Disgust dripped from her voice.
“Gabriel was too soft-hearted. He knew you wouldn’t be able to handle the truth, so he told you it was him that night.”
Isabella’s hands trembled.
Vanessa looked as if she was about to shove her, but then her eyes shifted past Isabella’s shoulder. In an instant, her expression changed. Her voice softened, her face turning pitiful and tearful.
“Big sister, I know I was wrong. I know you’re angry, scold me… don’t blame Gabe…”
Before Isabella could react, Vanessa suddenly fell to the ground.
The position was so deliberate, so rehearsed, it was as if Isabella had pushed her.
“ISABELLA! What did you do?!”
The furious voice came from behind.
She turned and saw Gabriel.
His face was cold.
He brushed past her without a glance and hurried to Vanessa’s side, helping her up.
“Babe, are you okay?”
Vanessa leaned into him weakly, almost collapsing into his arms. “Gabe… I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I know I should apologize to Bella… for ruining her life at eighteen…”
She broke into sobs.
“That’s enough,” Gabriel said gently, patting her shoulder. “Get in the car. I’ll talk to Bella.”
Isabella stood frozen.
Her mind had gone completely blank as Gabriel walked toward her. She watched his lips move, but for a moment, she couldn’t hear anything.
He spoke for a long time.
He talked about their childhood together. About how he had fallen in love with Vanessa. About his anger when he discovered what Vanessa had done. About the guilt he felt when he learned Isabella was pregnant.
He spoke about forgiving Vanessa.
Then finally, he said the words that shattered everything.
“Bella… I’m sorry. I can’t marry you. Not because of that night. Not because of the child. But because I can’t let Vanessa down. I don’t want to lie to myself about my feelings.”
For months, he had been overseas with Vanessa. Being together day and night had only made it harder for him to leave her.
Even though he had pretended to be the man from that night to protect Isabella from the truth, his heart had already made its choice.
After learning about the pregnancy, he had gone to the Hartley family to confess everything to their parents and prepare to tell Isabella the truth.
Isabella finally found her voice.
“So… you knew all along that Vanessa drugged me? That she ruined my life? And to protect her, you lied to me and said you were the one that night?”
Gabriel didn’t answer immediately.
“Bella… Nessa didn’t mean it. She's still young. She acted impulsively…..
“Then what about me?”
Her voice trembled as she looked at him, eyes filled with despair.
“Did you ever think about me? Even once? Did you think about what this would do to my life? How hard I’ve been trying to fit into this family?”
Gabriel fell silent.
After a long moment, he reached toward her.
“The sun is too strong. Let’s go home first—”
“Don’t touch me!” she screamed.
And then she started laughing.
A hollow, broken sound.
Up until now, Isabella felt like her entire life had been a joke.
To stay in the same city as Gabriel, she had pushed herself endlessly in school to enter the same university.
To please him and his family, she had given up her dream of becoming an actress.
To match his status, she had even left her adoptive parents and returned to the Hartley family, awkwardly trying to please people who had always felt like strangers.
And in the end, all she received was one sentence:
I can’t let Vanessa down.
Vanessa had taken her identity. Taken her biological parents.
And now… she had taken the man Isabella loved more than anything.
Vanessa was young, so her mistakes could be forgiven?
Then who would take responsibility for Isabella’s life?
She didn’t even know who the man from that night was.
Isabella covered her face as her body shook violently. She had fallen into complete despair.
She walked toward the road in a daze.
Gabriel noticed and threw away the cigarette in his hand, about to run after her, but Vanessa grabbed his sleeve.
“Babe, where are you going? I don’t feel good.…”
Gabriel hesitated.
And in that single moment—
A loud crash echoed through the street.
Isabella, who had been crossing at the zebra crossing, was struck and thrown into the air before hitting the ground heavily.
“Help! Help! A pregnant woman has been hit!”
In the blinding light, Bella saw blurry figures rushing toward her.
She saw two familiar faces that made her feel sick.
A sharp cramp twisted through her belly as her consciousness began to fade.
Blood trickled down from her forehead into her eyes.
Her world slowly fell into darkness..….
The suite remained deathly silent except for Isabella’s uneven breathing.Alexander sat quietly on the edge of the bed while the girl stayed curled weakly against him, her trembling fingers clutching tightly onto his shirt as though terrified he would disappear the moment she let go.The scarlet rose petals scattered across the white sheets now looked almost ironic.Alexander lowered his gaze toward the top of her head. Her body still trembled from time to time. The drugs hadn’t completely worn off yet.His eyes darkened slightly.“Bella,” he called softly. No response.Only a faint hiccup.Alexander carefully brushed away the damp strands of hair stuck to her tear-stained face. Her swollen red eyes and the slap mark lingering on her cheek made the coldness in his gaze deepen instantly. However, when he spoke again, his voice remained unbelievably gentle.“Can you stand?”Isabella remained silent for a few seconds before giving a tiny nod against his shoulder.Alexander slowly helped
Julian stood lazily by the doorway with the room card still dangling between his fingers. The suite lights were dim.Soft music played quietly in the background while the scent of roses and expensive perfume lingered heavily in the air.“Tsk… Durges really went all out…” he muttered under his breath. The woman on the bed remained motionless.Rose petals were scattered across the sheets and over her body, partially covering the thin silk nightgown clinging tightly to her skin. From where he stood, all he could see clearly were her legs.Long. Pale. Barely concealed beneath the translucent fabric.Julian clicked his tongue.“No wonder that old bastard looked so nervous…”He stepped further into the room casually, intending to take one look before leaving. After all, no matter how beautiful she was, he had no interest in touching a woman another man had prepared.Too troublesome. However, just as he approached the bed, the woman shifted slightly.A weak sound escaped her lips.“Mmh…”Jul
When Isabella walked out of the hospital, it was already late into the night. There were no stars in the sky, and even the moon hid behind layers of dark clouds. Only a few scattered cars moved along the empty streets. She had to admit that although Vanessa’s plan had been crude and reckless, it had still achieved its purpose in the end.Reputation damage.Vanessa always attacked the things Isabella cared about most.Gabriel, for example. Her parents.Sometimes, Isabella even found herself doubting her own existence, wondering if everything truly was her fault. Was she really that unbearable? Was she truly so terrible that everyone around her eventually grew to hate her, despise her, and abandon her?For the first time in a long while, exhaustion seeped into her bones.Even if she eventually achieved all her dreams… even if she climbed to the top someday…Would anyone genuinely care?In the end, she was still alone.Isabella wandered absentmindedly along the roadside, completely lost
Vanessa immediately switched to a bashful expression the moment she saw Gabriel approaching.“It’s because of you…” she complained softly, hitting his chest in a flirtatious manner.Gabriel looked completely helpless. “You were clearly the one seducing me.”Then he lifted the plastic bags in his hands. “I bought chicken porridge for you so you can regain your strength.”Vanessa instantly smiled sweetly. “Thanks, babe.”The next scene began shortly after. It was one of the most important fight scenes in the movie—a confrontation within the bamboo forest between Glinda Clifford and Natalie Frostman.Seeing that Natalie had already completely lost herself to vengeance and could no longer be reasoned with, Glinda finally made her decision. If Natalie continued down this path…Then she had to die here. The martial arts instructor had spent over two hours teaching the two actresses the choreography. By now, both of them were already familiar with the sequence of movements.Originally, Direc
The couple returned to the dressing room with depressed and dejected expressions.Vanessa stood silently in front of Gabriel before a tear slipped down her cheek. Her voice trembled softly, fragile and pitiful.“Baby… do you blame me? Do you blame me for not agreeing to Bella’s request…?”Gabriel’s heart softened instantly. He reached out and gently wiped away the tear at the corner of her eye.“Why would I blame you?”Vanessa immediately threw herself into his arms as though she had just been saved from despair.“Thank you… thank you for believing in me and understanding me. It’s not that I can’t give up the wealth or status of the Hartley family. I just… I can’t leave Mom and Dad behind. The thought of never seeing them again…”Her voice broke halfway through.Gabriel sighed helplessly as he patted her back.“It’s okay. Stop crying. I understand.”His expression darkened slightly as Bella’s cold face surfaced in his mind.“I was too naive. I kept thinking she was still the same girl
At the film set—As soon as Isabella arrived, she was informed that the filming schedule had been changed. The reason was that Jason had suddenly taken leave due to family matters. That guy would complain beside her for half the day over things as insignificant as a fart, yet when something this major happened, he hadn’t mentioned a single word to her?She immediately pulled out her phone and called him.The moment the call connected, Jason’s irritated voice came through.“Why would I tell you about it? Weren’t you the one complaining that I disturbed you too much? Didn’t you tell me to mind my own business? Didn’t you want me to stay as far away from you as possible? Well, congratulations. Your wish has been granted.”Hearing his strange tone, Isabella’s temper instantly rose.“Jason, are you stupid or something? What the fuck did you smoke this early in the morning?”Jason felt extremely stifled inside. He was angry at himself.Angry that he had been so blind and stupid all this tim

The city lights stretched endlessly beyond the tinted windows, blurring into soft streaks of gold and white as the car moved through the night.Inside, it was quiet.Isabella lay against Alexander’s chest, her breathing slow and even, completely unaware of the world around her. One of her hands had
