-
"I doubt that, I'll talk to you later then?" He asked she smiled feeling a slight spark of happiness to have a friend, she really needed one.
"Yeah, Goodbye." Emerald hung up turning back to the man who laid in the hospital, "That was your brother, he looks exactly like you. I know you would like him, he has a heart of gold." She waited for the response she knew was never gonna come, she couldn't help the tears that fell from her eyes. "Please come back to me." She cried into his chest feeling her heartbreak over and over again.
Someone cleared their throat catching her attention, she wiped away her tears facing the person at the door. William stood watching her, it broke his heart to see her sad, like it broke his heart to see Daniel quiet not making horrible jokes they would laugh at.
"I can come back later." She shook her head holding her hand out which took in a few steps. He took a seat beside her
- Chapter 10: Waist & Else - Darius and Amoy entered the car both dreading the night ahead of them. The ride was dead silent, there were few glances but no one said a word. "You both should be getting acquainted, we don't want the whole world knowing this marriage is fake," Xavier states, his eyes stayed on the road since he was driving the car. Darius cleared his throat catching her attention as their eyes met. "How was your day?" He asked softly. "It was fine, how was yours?" She replied turning her gaze back to the window, seeing how the cars, houses, animals and people disappeared within seconds this gave her comfort weirdly, it also reminded her that life doesn't wait on anyone. "Good." Silence fell around them once again, Xavier sighed seeing there was no hope for them, if they couldn't convince him they were in love, they couldn't convince the dumbest person in the room. "This is going to be harder than expected. Sin
- Chapter 11: Embarrassed & Plan - Darius stood at Amoy's side, silently watching as she spoke to potential business partners. The way she faked a smile and forced a laugh so naturally always surprised him, the way she knew what to say to someone to make their whole mood change, impressed him she was the perfect businesswoman almost too good. "You'll have to invite me next time promise?" She asked flashing the man, Mr Tanner her irresistible smile. "Of course." He smiled as well placing his empty glass on the table. "I'm holding you to that promise, do have a goodnight." She waved as he left, her eyes scanned the room looking for her next target, she had done her research on everyone invited she was going to try and get some business deals sealed. "Do you want a drink?" Darius asked her sipping his 5th drink? He had no idea. "No, but are you sure you can handle so many drinks?" He nods. "This is nothing, don
- Chapter 12: Conscious & Sorry - It was around 11 PM when Amoy and Darius came home, both very tired. She lets out a sigh as she took off her heels, he could only imagine how tiring it is to walk around in heels every day. "Amoy, Darius should I bring your dinner to your rooms?" Xavier inquired making them both jump in surprise as they didn't see when he walked up to them. "Xavier stop doing that, oh my god." Amoy scolded him holding her chest this made Darius laugh slightly but he immediately stopped, feeling her burning gaze on him. "And yes, bring my dinner to my room." She moved to go up the stairs but another voice stopped her. "Amoy, why don't you join me for dinner? You too Darius." They both turned to her father who walked out the kitchen with a bottle of wine in his hand. "Dad, what are you doing here?" She asked raising her eyebrow as lost as Darius. The man shrugged acting as if she and Darius weren't the reason
- Chapter 13: Emerald & Darius - Emerald looked down at her phone, knowing who she had to call and what she had to do, Faith had made it rather clear yesterday there was no way around this predicament she found herself in. She sighed running her fingers through her hair that was now messy from the other 20 times she ran her fingers through it. Closing her green eyes, she thought about what would happen if she didn't do it, the Atwood family wasn't one to mess with, you were either on their side or against them and she knew anyone who was against never survived they all sunk like ships in a hurricane. When she opened her eyes with all those thoughts in her mind, she dialled Darius's number, it took at least 5 rings for him to answer. "Hello?" He grumbled sounding like he just woke up. "I'm sorry, did I wake you?" She asked even though the answer was clear as day by just hearing his voice, she knew she should have called him later in
- Chapter 14: Breakfast & Clients - Emerald and Darius sat in a diner looking through the menus they were given by the waiter earlier. "What are you going to order?" Emerald asked him. He looked up from his menu, shrugging. "Everything looks good, have you made up your mind yet?" She nods closing her menu. "Yeah, I'm going to order some waffles and orange juice." He closed his menu too. "I'll have that as well, it sounds good." When the waiter came back, they placed their orders. "What do you do for a living?" He asked her making her a little surprised because anytime they talked and he asked her a question it was usually about the Atwoods but she shook off her shock and answered the question. "I'm a published author. What about you?" "I'm a writer as well, but I never got the chance to publish anything." He told her sadly, she raised her eyebrow now curious about the situation surrounding that. "Why not? What happened?" A
- Chapter 15: Compliments & Friend - Darius sat in the booth waiting on everyone to arrive, he thought Xavier and William would already be here since they had left an hour before him, but they were nowhere to be found. He looked around seeing every table filled with couples and families, while his table was empty, he had been getting looks of pity from almost everyone, he was even starting to pity himself as he drank his glass of water. "Sir, you've been here for 20 minutes and your friends haven't arrived I'm going to have to ask you to give up your table." The waiter, Paul told him he sighed expecting this, just as he was about to get up a familiar voice spoke. "I'm sorry, I'm late." Paul turned to Amoy, shocked at how beautiful she looked, Darius was even shocked himself. She wore a long one-shoulder black dress that had a slit at the side, that stopped at her upper thigh. Her luscious black curls fell past her shoulders, the makeup she
-Chapter 16: Magazines & Case-A few days had passed since the whole restaurant situation, Amoy and Darius had barely seen or spoken to each other as Amoy buried herself in work and Darius stayed in his room for hours and hours. William and Xavier had run out of ideas because it was already a struggle to get the two to catch feelings for each other, but now they had to find out how to get both of them to talk to each other. Both the men watched Darius as he ate his breakfast, reading the newspaper catching up on the latest problems going on around the world, the biggest problem going on for him right now was trying to get Amoy out of his mind, but he couldn't. Her smile, her eyes, her smell, everything about her was stuck in his mind. "Darius, how are—" William didn't even get to finish his sentence before Amoy came storming downstairs, she placed a magazine in front of Darius. "Read it." That was all she said walking to the kitchen. He closed
- Chapter 17: Photoshoots & Confusing - Darius sat in the car listening to Amoy as she explained their schedule for today. "The photoshoot may last 2 or 3 hours after that we'll be doing a magazine interview where you'll be explaining that you and Emerald are just friends." She told him while answering her phone. "Hello? I'm going to the shoot right now. Bob push the meeting back 6 hours. Alright, then we'll do it tomorrow." He watched as she spoke, he loved how she worked hard for what she wanted, he admired how she never lets anyone stop her from achieving her goals. "We're here, I'll talk to you later, bye." She hung up, putting her phone back in her pants just as the car came to a stop. She turned to him, her eyes said everything 'Don't mess this up' They both exited the car going to the entrance of the building. He opened the door for her, she mumbled a thank you before stepping inside. Just as they were about to go up to
