Chapter 3

Despite my best efforts, it appears that she is not in need of my assistance. Here, I work as a janitress. My mother has a connection to one of the employees here at Coleman's Empire, thus I'm a new employee there. I'm simply so happy that they let me in even though I'm still in college.

One of my bosses said me, "Caitronia, clean the rooftop when you are done cleaning the second floor. The long-lost daughter of Sir Daniel has finally arrived and been found. Just be careful just in case you will bump unto her." I gave him a head nod in response. I kept working and refrained from looking at anyone.

I forbade becoming friends with anyone in this place. Later, I'll depart, and it's better for me to carry on with my life alone than to let someone else into it.

A very annoyed voice replied, "Don't try to test my patience Riley, go and attend the meeting. This is for your own good." Even if I don't want to, I have to clean the entire second story.

A man's bored voice remarked, "I'm tired of it, I don't want to go, and I'm not interested. I gulp when I hear it since it's a voice I find to be incredibly macho.

An ancient voice stated, threateningly, "You better go there and attend the meeting or I will cut all of your cards."

"You can't do that," with no confidence he said.

"Riley, I could try."

They may have already finished talking because I was hoping to hear more of the voice but I could no longer hear anything.

When I felt a presence behind me, I stood up straight. I swallowed in fear and turned away from him.

Without any humor, he questioned, "Are you eavesdropping Miss?"

I didn't even turn my head to look at his face or speak. I'm concerned that he'll inform the maintenance about me.

"Nevermind," he abruptly said, and he walked away. I exhale deeply. I stopped feeling anxious. Gosh that was near!

I kept cleaning until I could hear no more footsteps. I chose to clean the rooftop a few minutes later. I grinned and sat for a bit because it's not really that unclean. I'm drained. There is no water where I wanted to drink it. I gulp.

I repeatedly blink as someone say, "Here." Why am I unable to detect any aura here? I study his hand.

"Iha, you seem extremely exhausted. Drink this," he said with a smile on his face. He offers me the mineral water, and I take it.

I take a sip of the mineral water after opening the container. When I am done, I turn to face him.

I immediately realize I still haven't said "thank you, sir." He grinned at me once again.

He said, "What's your name?"

I responded in a quiet whisper that he could barely hear, "I am Caitronia sir."

He greeted and said, "Nice to meet you. I'll leave you here, but please don't tire yourself out too much." He then went to retrieve his coat.

I had forgotten his name by the time he had gone. What a moron, Caitronia! My mouth left hanging open. Gosh. Is he one of the bosses here?

I'm doomed if that's the case!

I was brought back to reality by a loud voice asking, "Caitronia, did Asha come here?"

I responded, "Uh, who is that?" He gave me a stressed-out gaze.

He added, "Just clean up quickly. She will probably be here. I'm just glad she didn't still come here." and left. I scan the ground. All of it is now clean. I headed to the elevator after gathering all of my cleaning supplies.

Simply put, I'm not the only person in the elevator. Someone is inside. I instantly became timid. While I smell horrible, he is really attractive and smells fantastic. This time, I skipped another look at him. I could tell he had a mischievous atmosphere about him while we were in the elevator together because of his good looks.

A joking tone could be heard in his question, "Am I handsome?" I didn't respond or even look at him. I continue to scan the floor of the elevator.

He is very insistent, saying, "Oh I am not going to eat you alive. Can I have your number?" I give him a wary glance.

He says, looking astonished, "I don't have phone."

He asked like I just pushed the button, "But you look like you ran away from your mansion. Are you kidding me?"

I said, trying not to be disrespectful, "I am a janitress here, if you would mind sir. I have something to do more." When he turned to look at the cleaning supplies, a sudden realization hit him.

The elevator opened up before he could say anything else. I seize the chance to go. I could no longer care when I heard him utter something. I was acquainted with him. He is the campus's biggest draw. I don't want to get involved with such a successful and attractive man as Maverick Anderson. I want them as far away from me as I can. I wish to avoid any conflict.

I said softly, "I'm going home now, ma'am. I have a class at exactly one."

She responded with sympathy in her voice, "Take care. Just signed in the log out book."

She grinned as I said, "Thank you, ma'am."

Prior to exiting the building, I said my goodbyes to the guard. I skipped the cab. Our home is not far away. 10 minutes of walking, I believe. Even though it is already 12:15, I am confident that I won't be late for my afternoon class. I can hear a lot of murmuring when I'm walking, but I just ignored them. I am aware that my shirt is a little soiled, but why should they care?

As I keep going, I eventually arrive at our house.

I kissed her and gave her a bear hug, saying, "I'm now here mom."

She remarked, a bit concerned, "You didn't take a taxi? It's already 12:25; get dressed."

With a reassuring expression on my face, I assured my mother, "Don't worry, I'll get a cab later."

"Just eat first then, baby." she said that made me chuckle. I am always be a baby to my mother.
