I was sitting on the floor beside the couch, wrapped in a blanket like armor that couldn’t save me, when something slipped under the front door and scraped across the tiles.

A white envelope.

My hands trembled as I picked it up and tore it open. Inside were pictures of Sienna, Travis and their extended family.

My heart started racing. He found them.

He is going to use them as leverage over me.

This is about control, about owing me once again.

It always was.

That was all I Elliot can offer. Bondage and fear.

Unlike Xavier.

I closed my eyes and thought of Xavier… the way he held me like I was something precious. The way he looked at me like he saw more than my mistakes. More than the broken pieces.

For a moment, I almost smiled. I almost felt worthy.
