The Clash and Consequences

FREYA

The satisfaction of accomplishing my goals was overwhelming. As we emerged from the group, I was happy and delighted to see my mate's fiancée. Despite my best efforts, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy.

"I love you, Selene," he replied, watching as she made a valiant effort to lose the chain. I growled to myself as tears began to stream from his eyes. In my presence, my partner confessed his love to another woman, which upset me.

Although I realized it wouldn't be a good idea to take him to my pack violently, I had already made up my mind and couldn't go back. He will not be put back in his pack by me.

The instant I laid eyes on him, I knew something was not quite right. There was a sense in which he was both my mate and not. I was caught off guard because, despite my wolf and his scent telling me otherwise, his behavior led me to believe that he wasn't my mate.

Even without knowing who I was, I don't see why he would want to reject me. I knew something had to have pushed him to do it, I knew.

"I detest you. I abhor you so much. You cared only about yourself, and for that, I detest the moon goddess for matching me with someone so wicked. I knew without a doubt that the chariot would fall apart if I did nothing. As he screamed at me, "You are nothing but a crazy bitch," tears streamed from his eyes.

He went limp and on the ground when I gave him a mild neck punch. Feeling guilty about what I had done to him, I gazed at his sleeping body. I knew that my approach to him was inappropriate, but it still infuriated me to recall how he wanted me to reject him because of his fiancée.

Using only my hands, I intended to kill them both, but I realized that would only make matters worse. After shutting my eyes, I dozed out.

We've returned home, Alpha. My friend Lucius was standing in front of me, grinning, as he watched me, and I heard Samuel's words through the mind-link.

"What the hell are you doing?" He leaned over me and put both of his hands on my neck, as I asked.

I cautioned him, saying, "You won't want to try this," but he said nothing at all.

With a quick snap, I dislocated it by grabbing his hands. Though he was my mate, I chose to overlook my knowledge of what to do to him.

"You ought to stop acting in such a way. This is your pack, which is now mine, and it will remain so moving forward. He clenched his teeth and rolled his eyes in disapproval as I continued, "I'll ask your alpha to send your files over here."

I frowned as I exited the chariot after hearing him spit out, "She devil."

With us both now in my pack, I was relieved that things could perhaps work out for the best between us. Anticipating our mutual acclimatization, I was looking forward to viewing it. I am prepared to do everything in my power to help them sort things out, even though I am aware that their chances of growing close are slim.

Sam's mate's voice said, "Welcome back, Alpha," and I waved before making my way to the chamber where I planned to place him.

"Make sure he is comfortable before locking him in." As I spoke, the pack warriors nodded in agreement. "You should make sure he doesn't escape," I continued.

Recalling the events of the previous 24 hours, I collapsed onto my bed as soon as I entered my room. Seeing my partner is more difficult than I had anticipated.

It's different from what I had anticipated—my partner would happily follow me. As I lay there on the bed, several ideas were going through my mind. My mate's pack had experienced something, and I instantly felt my eyes change to those of an enraged woman.

That my partner would argue with me over a different female he planned to marry is unbelievable. I've made up my mind now, but I knew that if it had been then, I would have given my decisions another thought. Make him mine, I promise. He can't go anywhere.

I've been looking for my soul mate for almost my whole life, but what transpired when I finally found her?

The voice of one of the troops watching the area where Lucius was staying reached me. "Alpha, he is trying to escape."

Heading toward the room where he was imprisoned, I hurriedly left my room. Without delay, I opened the door and saw him strewn all over the floor.

"I am aware of how to handle you." You must think that I'm forgiving of you. "The location you are heading to next will be difficult for you, and you won't be allowed to leave for some time," I glared at him fiercely.

I ordered the guards to "lock him up in the cold room," and they all gawked at me in disbelief.

While Lucius made a concerted effort to hide his anxiety, I was able to see right through him when I saw him startled.

"Do you not think it's risky, ma'am? It could endanger his life," stated one of the sentries.

What happens to him is not important to me. The guard bowed before following my request, "All I want is for him to be looked up at in there."

Lucius had not stopped trembling for hours since he was placed in the frigid room. He was beginning to become pale around the mouth.

In an attempt to warm himself, I watched as he curled up in a corner, but as soon as he moved, he toppled over.

Looking at what I saw in front of me, my heart stopped pounding quickly. What had happened was unbelievable to me. I was concerned about him as I noticed my body beginning to overreact.

"Go get the keys to the cold room!" I shouted at the guard, who quickly fled the scene.
