Chapter VII

Keith spent days and nights following the royal guards and hoping he would find the reason why they were looking for Alec but he found none. They would spend their entire days searching and in the end, they would go back to the palace and leave a confused Keith to wonder where his best friend was.

Today, Carolyn insisted on accompanying him to a nearby village to keep looking for her brother. Alec has disappeared for weeks now and the young woman was anxious about it. Her little brother was asking for Alec every night and even their drunken father was sad because of his sudden disappearance.

Alec was not only a food provider but also sunlight in their small house. He was the one who helped his sister and little brother grow up, changed their clothes every morning and fed them before he went out to win some coins.
