CHAPTER EIGHT

Georgia knew just as much as Anna that this place had undergone a series of changes. Anna had been home once in the expanse of five years but Georgia had not set foot here in seven years; especially after Anna had gone to other parts of the country.

Anna had left Blue City to go work and study more at the John O’Hale Paranormal Institute; a leading institute for the treatment of werewolves, vampires, lycans, bats, sirens, demons and other paranormal species that might need treatment and that was why she was summoned home; her sister deserved the best care and so, she was to be given.

In the five years, Georgia had gotten herself certified in managerial and secretarial skills, working as an air hostess for two years before settling to be a chef and then an hotel manager; she also runs a restaurant on the side. She thanked God that she had decided to hire assistants to oversee her duties in case she had to be absent; and then this popped up.

    The next morning, Anna woke up feeling uneasy. She couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off. She looked over at Georgia, who was still fast asleep.Anna got out of bed and began to get ready for the day. She took a shower, got dressed, and brushed her hair. As she was finishing up, Georgia woke up."Good morning," Georgia said, yawning."Good morning," Anna replied. "I'm going to go downstairs and see if I can find out what's going on. "Please, join us."Anna and Georgia sat down, and Riya poured them each a cup of coffee."What's going on?" Anna asked, taking a sip of her coffee.The alpha leaned back in his chair. "James is still at large. We're doing everything we can to find him, but so far, no luck.

    James's smile sent a shiver down Anna's spine. There was something sinister about it, something that made her want to scream."I'm here to take what's rightfully mine," James said, his voice dripping with venom.The alpha stood up, his eyes flashing with anger. "You'll never take anything from me, James. I am the rightful ruler of this pack."James sneered. "You think you're worthy of ruling? You, who rejected your true mate and humiliated her in front of the entire pack?"Anna felt a surge of anger at James's words. How dare he bring up the alpha's past mistakes?The alpha's face darkened, and he took a step forward. "You have no right to speak of that, James. You, who have always been jealous of my position."James snarled, baring his teeth. "I'm not jealous of you, brother. I'm just tired of living in your shadow.     The rival pack's alpha, a towering figure with piercing yellow eyes, glared at Anna and Georgia, his expression twisted in anger."What are you doing here?" he growled, his voice low and menacing.Anna stood tall, trying to appear braver than she felt. "We're just looking for someone," she said, trying to sound nonchalant.The alpha's eyes narrowed. "Who?"Anna hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But before she could answer, Georgia jumped in."We're looking for James," she said, her voice firm. "We heard he might be here."The alpha's expression changed, his eyes flashing with surprise.     The three of them sat in Riya's room, brainstorming ways to find James. Anna pulled out a map of the surrounding area, spreading it out on the bed."Okay, so we know James was last seen heading towards the rival pack's territory," Anna said, tracing the path on the map. "But we don't know where he is now."Riya nodded. "And we can't just go marching into rival pack territory without a plan."Georgia frowned. "But we can't just sit around and do nothing either. James could be in real danger."Anna's eyes narrowed. "I think I have an idea. What if we sneak into rival pack territory and try to gather some information?"Riya's eyes widened. "That's a crazy idea, Anna."But Georgia was nodding. "I think it's worth a shot. We can't just sit around and wait for something to happen."Anna grinned. "That's the spirit, Georgia."Riya sighed.     The sun was setting over the pack lands, casting a warm orange glow over the gathering of wolves. The alpha stood at the front of the group, his eyes scanning the crowd as he began to speak."My friends and family," he said, his voice loud and clear. "I'm sure by now many of you have heard the news. James, my brother and a member of our pack, has left our lands and joined our rivals."The group erupted into a chorus of gasps and whispers, with many of the wolves looking at each other in shock and confusion.The alpha raised his hands, calling for silence. "I know this news may come as a shock to many of you," he said. "But I want to assure you that we will do everything in our power to find out why James has made this decision, and to bring him back home."Anna, who was standing at the back of the group with Georgia, felt a surge of admiration for the alpha. He was handling the situation with calmness and authority, and his words were reassuring to the worried wolves.But as she looke
