~~~~Anya~~~~The alarm clock screamed at the space as soon as it hit six o'clock the next morning. I was already awake before the second ringing from it came again. My eyes snapped open immediately, staring directly at the ceiling, then at that moment… no! I frowned! I was not excited at all. Not even a bit. The fact that I woke up thirty minutes before the alarm actually meant nothing, with the fact that I had laid down my clothes the night before still meant nothing. And the fact that I checked the time four separate times before going to sleep also meant nothing.Anisa slowly stirred inside of me and let out a soft chuckle. ‘Of course you're excited.’I rolled onto my side. ‘I’m not,’ I mumbled under my breath. ‘You're actually lying,’ she said.‘I'm not because it doesn't feel like it.’‘You are.’I turned and buried my face deep into the soft pillow. ‘I hate you,’ then I chuckled.‘No you don't,’ Anisa laughed. ~~~~Anya~~~~The realization that I woke up without dread clouding my chest settled me before I even finally opened my eyes. The early morning was filled with silence. Just peaceful silence. I just remained under my blanket for a few extra seconds. My eyes were locked on the ceiling as morning sunlight filtered through the curtains. The room felt so warm. Safe and comfortable. And yet, it still feels strange whenever I think of this apartment as our home now. If someone had told me weeks ago that I would be living in a human city with Talia and working a normal job, just completely detached from Ridgewood, I would have laughed in their face and called them liars. Yet, here I was. Still breathing the same air humans breathe. Still alive. Still standing. I felt as Anisa stretched lazily inside my mind. ‘Finally awake?’ she stretched.‘Good morning to you too,’ I said as my smile widened. She yawned. ‘You slept like a dead wolf.’I simply rolled my eyes. Helpful observation indeed.
