Masuk“Jesse!” I screamed and tried to rush toward the stage, but Blaise clasped his hand around my wrist to stop me, his grip strong and bruising. “What are you doing?” He snarled, his blue eyes glaring at me, with a hint of madness in their depth. I do not have time for this. “Let go,” I snarled, and tried to free my hand from his grip. I was insane with worry for Jesse and had zero patience for Blaise's jealousy right now. He pulled me forward, and not expecting the action, I stumbled forward, crashing into his chest. Blaise moved his hand around my body as if he was hugging me. I tried to resist his hug, struggling against him, and wondering if my boyfriend had lost his mind. “Would you quit acting like a lovesick puppy who has lost all trace of common sense?” Blaise snaps. “Your father is watching.”Fuck! I have forgotten about my father. I went still and forced my body to relax against him. I stayed within his embrace for a few seconds and then tried to pull away, only to encoun
VICTORIA's POV The excitement from the students gathered in the arena, watching raptly as the first elimination round kicked off, is as thick as a cloud of smoke. The students watched as if their lives depended on the outcome of the fight. Jesse seems to be hanging on, but for some reason, he seems to be struggling. It wasn't so at first. At the beginning, he looked ready to take on the whole world, fighting with precision and deftness, without being overtly cruel, unlike some of the other students on the stage, who didn't think twice about maiming their fellow students. And then his momentum slowed. He began to miss punches that were directly in front of him, as if his vision were somehow impaired. I watched worriedly as he faced off with one student, who seemed hell-bent on taking advantage of whatever was bothering Jesse, but somehow he survived. Cheers rose like smoke waves from the crowd as Jesse eliminated the final student to mark the end of round 1. Inwar
JESSE’s POV Finally, the long-awaited day for me to prove myself arrived. As I got dressed in my dorm room, I could feel my roommate sneaking glances at me. He had been doing that since last night, as if he had something to say to me but didn't want to offend me. “Spit it out!” I tell him as I button my shirt. “Is it because of her?” I raise my head to look at him, one brow cocked. “Because of whom?” I know who he is asking about, but I am not going to speak plainly unless he does so as well. Last night, my friends found out that I would be participating in the Eagles fight. The news had come as a shock to them, and they didn't take it well. Moksh had been filled with indignation, wondering why I wanted to join the pompous asses, as he elegantly called the members of the Eagles House. Anakin had looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn't. Outside, the boy shows this quiet and timid personality, and only comes out of his shell when it is just us alone. “The Princ
Like I did when I visited Jesse in his dorm, I sat calmly on the small creamy couch across the blonde’s room, legs crossed at the knees, arms against my chest, waiting for her to make an appearance. I could hear the shower running. Unlike the other Levels in the academy that share their dorm room, we, the Level IV students, have a room to ourselves, and Isabelle had made hers to look like a Princess’s shrine. The blonde is so girly that it makes me sick. All the flashy colors in her room are giving me a headache, and I don't even have a hangover. The shower stopped running, and the blonde stepped out in a huge white towel, body still wet, and water dripping down her shoulders from her wet hair. She stopped abruptly at the sight of me waiting for her, her eyes widening. “Victoria,” she gasped. Isabelle and I might be friends, but I can count on my fingers the number of times I visited her room. We are not that close. I don't like the blonde because I find her pretentio
The next morning, I stepped out of my room dressed spectacularly as usual. Sasha came out of hers first, and when our eyes met, she glared at me. I whispered a smile at her sulky attitude. My girl is still mad at me for outing her to the redhead. Cat emerged second, looking like a preschool student in her flowery dress and double ponytail hairstyle. She looks cute. I notice Sasha’s expression change at the sight of the redhead. Desire mixed with regret and pain. Cat meets my gaze first, a shy smile lighting her features, as she greets me. Her smile disappears when she looks past me to the girl behind me. Her expression grew guarded and slightly hesitant. “Sash,” she greets, her tone reserved. My dark friend nods without a word. I looked from one girl to another, and they were both doing a good job of pretending the other was invisible. I have no time for drama, and I hate tension in the group. “So, which one of you wants to leave the group?” They react immediatel
VICTORIA’s POV He doesn't move at my words; instead, he stares at me, his expression puzzled, like he is trying to figure me out. In his eyes, I noticed an extra layer of emotion, a hint of doubt, as if he is struggling with himself about something. I heaved a sigh inwardly. Despite how far we have come, we still struggle to open up easily with each other. Especially Jesse. I don't know his full story, and I wish to know, but only when he is ready. “You can say whatever it is that is stuck in your throat?” I smiled to hint to him that I am only joking. He doesn't reply to my smile; still stone-cold serious, he muttered. “Aren't you curious? Don't you care?” This time, not only doubts cloud his beautiful eyes, but also insecurities. I have always detested guys who needed continuous reassurance of a girl's feelings toward them, and zero patience for insecure guys. But Jesse is different. He might look and act tough outwardly, but inside, I know he is very delicate, and his feelings
