Chapter 5: Our mate

The man that walked in could only be the Alpha. His presence filled the room, not just physically, but his aura too. I have never met anyone who has such a strong aura as him. He wasn't alone, but he commanded all the attention. You can't exactly see other people when you have a giant in your line of sight. A giant in suit.

What the fuck! It is like dressing up a savage beast.

“Damn he is huge!”

“Tell me about it,” I replied Frost gaping at the Alpha like he is big foot. I am not sure that there is a difference. What is he? Seven feet, eight feet. He is a fucking A****n.

“Have anyone ever told you that it is rude to stare, little girl,” his deep thunder voice shook the walls of the room, one of his thick brow climbing up his hairline in a humorous arch.

“Has anyone ever told you that it is rude to call someone little girl,” Frost retorted in my mind, making me whimper as I fought a laugh. “Now is not the time to be a smart ass,” Frost I scolded my naughty other half. She is going to get us into trouble if she doesn't put a pin in that smart ass attitude of hers.

“Is something funny, girlie?” The humor was gone from his face. I gulped nervously, before shaking my head like a lizard. This was one man I don't want to truffle with. He could break me into half without putting any effort to it. Not only is he fucking tall, he is built like a damn wrestler.

“So what are you doing in my pack, girlie?”

I should probably tell him my name, girlie sounds a little patronizing, and I don't much care for it, but the only problem is getting my mouth to move and utter something. I am so nervous and terrified of the man towering above me that all the muscles in control of my speech are paralyzed.

When all I did was gawked at him like a moron he turned to frown at the doctor. “Is she mute?”he asked the question in a drolly tone that came out really funny but no one laughed. That is how intense the tension in the room was.

“How do you expect her to talk when you are scarring the poor girl,” a soft female voice said from behind. The woman's voice was a beautiful alto. Not so deep, not so light. Just right and very soothing. Her voice reminded me of my mother. And her presence immediately shifted the atmosphere in the room just like the alpha, but hers had the opposite effect.

I was certainly curious about the woman, but I couldn't see her yet because there was a tall wall blocking my view.

“Honey, what are you doing out of bed?” The alpha who has yet to introduce himself turned to address the woman, his voice softened and filled with worried. I couldn't believe he was the one who was just talking to me in such a rigid tone few minutes ago.

Who was this woman that could bring a giant down? I was amazed by her power.

“I was bored in bed, and you know how restless I get when I am not doing anything. Anyways I am pregnant not sick,” the woman muttered in frustration as she made herself visible to me.

Wow! was the only word I could think of when I took a look at her. She was fucking gorgeous. A goddess. Long flowing white hair, deep green eyes that reminds someone of the fields. And they are huge giving her a doe appearance.

“She is mated to him?” Frost exclaimed in my mind. I rolled my eyes at her smart ass. The alpha isn't what you will call classic handsome. He has an interesting rugged features. When it comes looks you will not expect the gorgeous petite white lady to go for someone like him. They are pure opposite in everything.

It is true when they say opposite attract. And looking at them there is no doubt how much they care for each other. The alpha has totally forgotten my presence at the sight of his mate. All his attention now on the small pregnant lady who was currently doing her best to assure her worrisome mate that she was fine and in no eminent danger just because she left their bed.

I felt Frost still in my head and then became restless, like she was disturbed by something.

“What is it?”

“Our mate. He is near.”

My whole being froze at her words. What! surely she must be mistaken. A strange pack. Our mate here. “Are you sure?”

Instead of responding she allowed me to scent what she was perceiving.

Sandalwoods, and nuts.

It was amazing, and made me feel warm inside, and tingle in all the right places. I can't believe we have found our mate. This is something I have longed for ever since I knew what a mate was, and saw my parents relationship. I had believed the disastrous mating festival has destroyed my chance of finding a mate, but it turns out that he wasn't even part of our pack.

Wait was he the reason I came here? Did the universe push me in this direction knowing that my mate was waiting here.

“Do you know who he is?” There are a lot of people in the room, most of them hidden from my line of sight so I wasn't sure who Frost smelt.

“No, can't see yet.”

“So darling, do you mind telling us your name?”

The woman's alto snapped me back to reality, pulling my attention back to her. Damn she is really hot, I thought to myself as I stared at her face. “F...Fallon,” I stammered.

“Nyx, and the big buffalo, is my mate, Emerson. I apologize on his behalf for terrifying you. Have been trying to teach him how to be sensitive, but you have seen him. Do you think a man like him can be sensitive?” she teased with a fond smile on her face.

I looked at the Alpha again. He was a mass of raw power. She was right there is nothing delicate about this man. He looked like a man who only understood brute force. I didn't reply to her teasing because I was afraid of offending the huge man, but I need not have worried. The alpha took no offense at his mate teasing, instead he teased back.

“Why do I need to be sensitive when I have you for that, honey. We are the classic case of beauty and the beast.”

Seeing a smile on his face was a shock, that I didn't hide so well. “Yeah, happens to anyone who sees him smile for the first time. Forget about his looks, my mate is not an ogre. So now we have gotten the introduction out of the way, and if it is not too much trouble for you, do you mind telling us how you found us. We aren't exactly part of civilisation,” she teased again.

From the surrounding you won't know that this pack is tucked away in the middle of nowhere. Everything is so modern and very standard. Their pack hospital is sure more equipped than ours. And even their buildings, and guns. No this is no ordinary pack.

I swallowed before I started to narrate the sordid tale that lead me to their doorstep. When I was done I was in tears.

“Oh, darling,” Nyx moved and took me in her arms. Her touch soothing and warm. It felt almost like being held by my mother, which made me cry harder. While Nyx consoled me the alpha coordinated with his people to tighten the security.

He was worried that the rogues I was running from could be hot on my heels, and could have followed me here.

As the room emptied two people were revealed. They both gorgeous as greek god, and it wasn't hard to know whom they belonged to. They bore a striking resemblance like the woman I was in her arms, and Frost was watching them with interest.
