The Game To Be Bought

CHAPTER TWO

“Mr. Osvaldo, fancy seeing you here in my office,” Marco exclaimed as he walked into his office, followed by two security men, he flashed a very toothy smile at him showing off his teeth grills which were made out of fake gold.

He scowled when he noticed me sitting in the corner of his office, but then for some reason he chose to ignore me. Sitting behind his desk he propped his legs up on the table, crossed his fingers in a business-like manner and then spoke, “My men tell me you want to buy her out of this… industry.” He drawled, on the last part.

“I'm proposing a million dollars,” Mr. Osvaldo responded, concisely.

“That was very straightforward, Mr. Osvaldo, you made a good bargain but her contract states that she would be working here until she pays her debt off.” Marco said, smiling impishly.

I don't owe any debt, matter of fact I was sold to him for a price even lower than what Mr. Osvaldo had proposed, he lied about the debt to get a higher bargain. If I were to speak up against his lie, chances were he would refuse the proposal and I would be stuck here, so I did what any reasonable person would do, shut up and watch.

“I'd like to hear a bit about this debt.” Mr. Osvaldo said, his focus shifting to me.

Marco smiled cunningly, he got up from his desk to his mini bar. “You see her father used to play at our casino very often, a chronic gambler, he owed a lot of money and one day he killed himself,” he began, corking open a bottle of wine, he offered some to the guest but when he politely declined, he continued with his hoax. “With no way to pay back, we took her in, about a month ago to work for us to pay back the debt her father owed us but unfortunately she has refused to cooperate with us and has paid nothing to this industry and as you saw this night, she tried to run away.”

“How much is her debt?” Mr. Osvaldo asked, his expression seemed like he wanted to get this over with and leave.

“Two million, but because I am generous, I'd let her off for a million five hundred.” Marco replied, taking a sip of his wine.

“Consider it a deal.”

When the deal was closed, they patted me down to check if I had stolen anything from them, they took the gun, taser, keys, and the money Gypsy had given me earlier.

“I hope you find a good use for that one, she is quite a strong head.” Marco informed Mr. Osvaldo as he got up to leave.

With a curt nod, he left Marco's office and I followed suit, treading cautiously behind him.

As we walked back to the garage I began to wonder why he had bought me out from Marco and what he wanted from me. I didn't expect him to have that much money considering the way he was dressed but with the way Marco addressed him, he seemed quite reputable.

My eyes trailed from the floor covering to him and he was already standing by his car with the passenger door held open. If there's another thing I've learned about this man, other than the fact that he is rich, it's that he most definitely respects women.

The ride to his home was long and quiet, occasionally I'd think of starting up a conversation but quickly push the thought away because I had no idea what to say.

I drifted to sleep and woke up when the car came to an abrupt stop, it had stopped in front of a metal bar gate. He took out a remote control, on pressing a button the gates slid open and he drove in. I got a good view of his house and it was majestic, how rich was this guy exactly?

He parked in front of the entrance to the mansion and we got out, he tossed a key to a man dressed in a black suit which I assumed was one of his security guards, the man drove the car away from the entrance, I was still mesmerized by the environment I didn't notice he had made his way in without me, upon noticing I hurried to meet up with him. The guards at the entrance gave me cold stares, their eyes trailing me as I walked by them.

We got to what seemed like a lounge area, and he collapsed on one of the couches letting out a sigh of relief. I stood across from him behind one of the sofas, I wasn't sure if I could sit, the chairs were so white I felt that it would stain if I merely touched it.

I didn't shower very often at the brothel, I was locked in a room most of the time and when I was allowed to shower was only when I was about to be put on display.

“What is your name?” He asked all of a sudden, interrupting me from my thoughts.

“L…Lenora.” I stuttered, avoiding his gaze.

“No last names?” He inquired, leaning on the arm of the couch.

I paused for a second before answering, “Prescott… Lenora Prescott.” It had been a while since I heard my name or even said it, everyone knew me as the ‘Rabid Bunny’ I couldn't tell anyone my name, not even Marco knew my name but here I was, saying it out loud for the first time in a while, it felt nice.

“Len-ora,” He drawled, reaching for the intercom on the side table, he pushed the button and spoke, “Mrs. Elton, to the lounge area, please.”

“Which one, Sir?” A voice responded from the speaker.

“My least favorite.” He responded with a sigh, returning his attention to me, “You seem to enjoy standing, Sit.”

“No sir, I'd rather…” I began but was cut short mid speech.

“It's not a request.” He intoned, and I quietly sat down, despite my uncomfort.

My eyes began to trail around the room, especially at the living room ceiling. It had replicas of renaissance art, the type you would find in a chapel, like the sistine chapel. Something about looking at the paintings on the ceiling brought me comfort, and an inner sense of security.

“Lenora.” Mr. Osvaldo called me, drawing my attention from the chapel-like ceiling to him. “This is Mrs.Vanya Elton,” he began, and I turned to find a middle aged woman standing next to me, she scrutinized me, and I noticed the same surprised expression the security had earlier on her face. “She is the housekeeper, if you need anything let her know.”

I nodded quickly getting up from the couch, I gave it a quick glance to check if somehow I had stained it, thankfully I hadn't. I followed the woman to a hallway on the ground floor, there were paintings on the walls and I could stop and look at them for a long time but I figured I might have time to do so, since I wasn't going anywhere, not with the amount of money he paid for my freedom.

Mrs. Elton stopped in front of a door, she pushed it open and walked in, I followed suit. The room was enormous for a guest room, and well furnished. It had a glass door that led to the backyard pool. The bed was twice the size of my bed at home. For some reason, I got excited but I didn't let it show, especially not with Mrs. Elton around.

Mrs. Elton led me into the bathroom, it was of course, like everything in this house enormous, and squeaky clean, I could eat off the floor.

“Your clothes, dear.” Mrs. Elton spoke and I stared at her in confusion. “Take them off, I have to get rid of them.”

I took them off and stood before her unclad. “Oh goodness!” She exclaimed in horror when she saw the fresh scars on my body.

“Please don't overreact, they'll heal like they always do.” I tried to assure her but it only came off like I was a victim of assault which as a matter of fact I was, only it was embarrassing to say it out loud.

“What kind of monsters would do this to you?” She cried, her tone softening, I could tell she pitied me.

“I'm alright, Ma'am” I whispered, trying to cover up the scars. A knock came on the door to the bathroom and a young woman came in with towels. She had a nice smile on her face but the smile fell when she saw the scars on my back. “Jesus Christ.” She exclaimed, looking to and fro between Mrs. Elton and I.

“You can go now, Yara.” Mrs. Elton snapped, “And take those clothes with you, make sure to dispose of them properly.”

“You don't have lice, do you?” she asked, turning to me.

No wonder she had asked that my clothes be thrown away, thankfully I didn't have any lice, I never slept in the same room with any of the girls, nor wore any of the prop wigs, which made me lice free.

“No, I'm very much lice free.” I chuckled awkwardly.

“I'll leave you to your bath then, Yara will be coming back after you're done, there's nothing like being overly careful now, is there?” she said and left me, standing in the room alone.

I breathed a sigh of relief and stepped towards the tub. There were rose petals in the water, “Fancy.” I said to myself dipping my index finger into the water, it was warm and exactly what I needed.

Submerging myself into the tub, my wounds stung at first but then got used to the water, I reached for the loofah and began to slowly scrub my arms.

The bath smelled really nice, better than anything I've smelled my entire life. I was having a nice warm bath in a nice luxurious bathroom, not an ice cold shower in a bathroom that smelled like shit, I couldn't believe it, I was free from the brothel, I was free from Marco. But the question that lingered on my thoughts was why Mr. Osvaldo bought me from Marco, what exactly did he need me for?
