NINE

The alarm in his head went off. He opened his eyes, then sat on the edge of the bed to stretch his muscles that were stiff after waking up. The clock above the nightstand still shows a few minutes to five. He could always wake himself up with the alarm he had set inside his head.

Ezra made his way to the bathroom. He washed his face and wiped it with a towel. After that he walked to the window, observing the sight of the forest which was still dark with flocks of birds that had just flown noisily flapping their wings. They flew from the point where he had set traps for the deer. He was sure that today he had caught a stunning catch.

Five minutes later Ezra came out of his room with a parka jacket wrapped around him and a black hat. He carried a hunting rifle in his right hand. On the stairs Ezra met Felix who had just left the kitchen.

"You're going hunting?"

“I'm going to take a look at the trap I set yesterday. Looks like we got a good hunt.” Ezra grinned widely.
