SELENA'S POV:

The worst part? I wasn’t even sure if it was just a mistake. Joey had been extra lately, lingering too long in conversations, always finding a way to be near me, sending texts at odd hours about “project ideas” that never actually needed my input. And now this? Hugging me thinking it was me?

It had crossed a line. A very real, very clear line.

I brushed it off and tried to shake it from my mind. This day was too important to let a stupid moment ruin it. I reached the stage, smiled at the mayor, nodded at our investors, and took my place in front of the giant ribbon. My assistant handed me the scissors, and the crowd fell quiet.

This was it.

I glanced at the crowd, trying to spot familiar faces. Zoey was somewhere near the front, waving at me excitedly. I nearly jumped in excitement when I saw Gabby and Julian, as well as Carmeron, Cherry and Liv all together smiling beautifully. • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   A Dress Too Similar

SELENA’S POV:A FEW WEEKS LATER:“Launch day!” Zoey announced excitedly as she arrived into the kitchen and I smiled weakly chewing the warm cereal in my mouth. The launch of the amusement park/mall was here and I was way too excited and way too tired to even speak. There had been a whole bunch of paperwork, approvals that I had to review before a bunch of actions were taken. I occasionally wish I could just hand out my power of attorney to someone else to review and approve because it took a whole lot more work than it seemed. “You look a mess.” Zoey pointed out and I stared at with an expression which I hoped screamed, ‘Thank you for that piece of information’.“But you already knew that, my bad.” She chuckled going into the fridge and reaching for a glass of juice. The house had been so quiet, as Henry had gone on three days work trip and requested Hailey and Nanny Solidat accompany him. I don’t know if it was to give some time to work or if it was because he felt Hailey was growi

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   The Monster Plans

3RD POV:A FEW DAYS LATER:Sandra sat in the waiting room, waiting anxiously for David, who at his bail hearing was denied bail, he was livid as he was recognized not only as a threat to the Scott’s but to the entire society. Sandra’s hair was packed up in a messy bun, and she had a mid-thigh dress as well as a fur jacket to match as winter was approaching. She was trying her best to look composed even in this times where it felt like all was lost. She blinked repeatedly, watching as David was brought into the visiting area, with cuffs on his hand and he was just changed into his prison clothes, looking tired and still as mad as ever. The officer removed the handcuffs just as he sat before Sandra, then he walked off excusing them but before leaving he announced that they only had ten minutes to converse.“I would ask, ‘how are you?’ but I can already tell you look like crap and smell like one too.” Sandra said, scrunching up her nose and David just stared at her unmoved.“How’s my s

SELENA’S POV:“It’s not you….I just didn’t realize how much this threat affected me until this very moment.” I said in between, and he got up and grabbed me by my hand lifting me up.“Talk to me.” He embraced me and I leaned closer to his chest and rocked up back and forth. After about five minutes and my tears had died down, and I responded, “I know he’s in jail but I don’t feel it’s over. I have this bad feeling something is going to happen, every single day I go to work, before stepping into the premises, I request a thorough search because I don’t feel safe nor do I want to put the life of my staff at risk. I’m scared and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. I have been so overwhelmed, just thinking about what could have been.”“But right now….I’m not going to let him have any control over me. Not anymore, not ever again. I’m sorry.” I hugged him tightly after uttering those words and I meant it from my heart and Henry knew that which is why, he simply kissed the top of my head

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   “In the Softness of His Hands

SELENA’S POV:A FEW WEEKS LATER:“Are you okay? You have everything you need?” Henry asked as I grabbed my gold clutch bag and I nodded slowly in response. After almost two weeks since the threat and David’s arrest, I can proudly say that I heard the question, ‘Are you okay?’ and ‘Are you sure you’re alright?’, more than a thousand times just from Henry. Friends and family called to check in everyday, I was surprised at their consistency as it seemed like they had a timetable or sort. They called at seven in the morning and in the evening, Julian had no idea what to say on his turn to call so he made jokes and weird noises, I just hung up.Cherry had even suggested therapy but I sent a memo to everyone earlier today, stating I was well and didn’t need anything and most especially no more calls. I proceeded to ask Henry while he made me lunch on a beautiful Sunday, if we could go out tonight and in a heartbeat he agreed. “I will plan everything, all you need to do is look perfect like

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   A Secret Obsession

3RD POV:THE NEXT DAY:“What do you mean? I don’t even understand what you’re talking about…..No, you’re going to slowly explain to me what in the world is going on…..” Sandra spoke over the phone, holding her forehead in annoyance.“I’m listening to you.” She answered as she rose up to her feet, grabbed the remote which was laying on the center table and switched on the television. Her hair was packed up in a messy bun, and she had on a long free blue polka dots gown. She was simply having a relaxing morning keeping away gadgets and devices, simply reading a magazine, enjoying breakfast and caring for her son. She was waiting for David, but she didn’t really care about him at the same time. She was enjoying his absence but just after an hour into her quiet time, especially with her baby boy relaxing, she received a call from the station.Sandra sat numbly on the couch, her fingers wrapped tightly around the remote, barely hearing the voice droning from the TV.“Breaking news: Busine

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   In the Hands of a Madman

SELENA’S POV:Then he kissed my forehead letting out a breath, and exhaled happily. He was alright. He was alright. His hard gaze shifted to Joey, narrowing. Joey, clueless, or pretending to be, stepped forward, offering a hand."Hey, Henry," he said smoothly. "Good to see you, man. We—"Henry cut him off with a look that could freeze boiling water. He didn’t take the offered hand. Didn’t say a word. Just shifted his body slightly to block me from Joey’s view, his hand finding the small of my back protectively.Joey’s smile faltered.I could feel the tension, the heavy electric charge between them. I needed to diffuse it fast."Joey," I said tightly, stepping sideways so Henry’s hand slid away. "Go. Please. Thank you for your help but... it's enough now."For a heartbeat, Joey didn’t move. He just stood there, staring at me like he expected something else, something more. My stomach twisted at the look on his face, a look that was too raw, too familiar for comfort. Finally, he nodded

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   A Smile That Lied

SELENA’S POV:THAT SAME DAY:“We have our officers everywhere mentioned, the park, the stores back in your city, the new construction site and this office. They are searching the premises and guarding it as well, we take this case quite seriously Mrs Scott.” The Police Chief explained to Joey and I and I kept pacing back and forth trying to get a grip of this situation and speak to my husband but there was still no answer from him and it made me even more worried.I took in deep breath shutting my eyes and halting in my steps. I heard Joey mutter an appreciation and I did the same walking up to him and shaking his hands “Thank you Chief.” “You’re welcome ma’am, we will keep you updated.” He said and I nodded watching as he walked out of my office with Joey escorting him out.Just then I received a text message from Nanny Solidat with a picture of Hailey watching a movie and giggling, along with a text stating, ‘We are at home and safe. The officers and guards are surveying the areas.

  • Take My Husband, Let Me Marry Yours   Between Fire and Fear

SELENA’S POV:Just before I was about to respond to her as we walked, my phone dinged in my hands and it was one message from my husband wishing it all goes well and another from Joey just checking up on me. The double date was to be held tomorrow night, I’m sure he was just making sure we were not backing out.But just before I could even respond, he sent another message, saying I looked pretty in my brown suit fit and with my hair down, which made me frown looking around.“Ma’am, we don’t want to be late.” She said as the elevator doors opened and I quickly rushed towards trying to get Joey out of my mind. What was he doing here? And where was he?***********AT NOON:After a very intense meeting, with all the questions being thrown at me as well as questions now that a lot of investors were pulling out, as well as shareholders thinking about selling their shares, rather than answering all, I threw the questions back to the Chief Financial Officer and all the other executives, takin
