Edward POV

I was lost in complete shock. My Nessa got into an accident? How on earth did that happen.

Was she with Liam?

Are they both safe?

I need urgent answers. Feeling restless while seated in the car, I browse through my phone.

Fuck.

She had sent me some texts already. Why didn't my PA tell me. I place a call to Liam's school. He's still there. I need to get him first before going to see Nessa.

I feel so upset about this. Was it a set up? I'd loose myself if anything happens to her.

"Drive faster Xavier. This is urgent." I yelled at my driver with hopes to hasten him up. I also texted my private investigator. There's a lot of work to be done.

Vanessa POV

The sounds of police and ambulance sirens echoed in my head as my eyes slowly drifted open. An immediate sharp pain around my head followed, with a feeling of a bandage, wrapped around it.

Where was I?

My eyeballs moved a little, scanning the location. I am in a hospital, lying flat on a bed, with my left arm connected to a drip.

It's a miracle I made it out of that scenario alive, but the last thing I remember is a gun being pointed to my head.

I need to be out of here. Liam's still in school. Who's going to—

"Princess? Thank God you're awake." Daniel's voice filled my ears as he strolled into the room with two nurses. Edward wasn't here but at least he was.

"Daniel? How did find me?" I asked curiously, trying to sit up on the bed but I was instantly stopped by a severe back pain that followed my movement.

"Careful." Daniel said, rushing to hold me as his hands guided me in sitting upright.

"I called 911 like you said and they traced the call to your location. Thank God you didn't hang up."

He is so thoughtful and kind. What if I wasn't speaking to him when it happened?

"I appreciate you Daniel, but what exactly happened to me? And where's the strange guy who drove the car?"

"You were involved in an accident Miss Coleman." A nurse cut in, explaining things to me.

"It was very severe but somehow you managed to survive without any fatal injuries."

Oh wow. What a crazy day.

"And the guy?" I asked more intensely. I needed to know.

"You were the only one in the crash when we got there. It's almost like he escaped." Daniel added, motioning towards me to sit beside the bed.

"That's exactly what he did. My car was hijacked by a fake. He was a strange man I'd never seen before in my life." I complained, feeling a little tired and dizzy from the whole conversation.

Daniel moved to sit on the bed with me, and he stretched out his hands, entwining them with mine.

I looked up to him and the instant connection with his eyes brought a calm to my mind.

"Relax princess, everything will be fine. What matters now is your recovery." He assured, almost making me feel like nothing bad ever happened.

His right hand moved to the side table picking up a bouquet of the most gorgeous pink roses I'd ever seen.

Who was this man?

"This is for you. I had planned to give you tonight during our date but I want you to have them now"

Daniel West. I'd throw my arms around you and kiss you if my head wasn't hurting so bad.

I took the bouquet, reveling in the sight of amazing colors and the wonderful scent.

"This is so thoughtful of you Daniel, you're an amazing—

My words trailed off, sighting Liam and Edward as they emerged from the door.

"Mommy!" Liam yelled running into the room to embrace me. He looked sad to see me this way. Tears began forming in his eyes. My sweet boy. I missed you but this is bad timing. Daniel didn't know about him yet. I looked in his direction. He stood up, his smile quickly switching to a frown at the sight of Edward.

Edward walked in, staring at me as he got closer to the bed. He signaled the nurses to leave.

"I'm Sorry Nessa." He whispered, a look of pity visible on his face for seeing me in this condition. It's Almost like he wanted to embrace me but he's holding back.

He turned to face Daniel who was speechless at the sight of Liam. He didn't need any explanation, it was very clear he was Edward's son from just the appearance and he called me mommy.

"Why are you here West? What do you want?"

Edward questioned Daniel, moving his gaze towards him.

"That's none of your business. In fact I was leaving."

Daniel replied picking his coat from the table in attempts to walk out.

"Daniel please don't go," I asked using the little strength I had in my left arm to hold his wrist.

He looked at me, feeling betrayed.

"Why did you keep this from me Vanessa? " he asked.

"Because it's none of your fucking business West, now get out!" Edward yelled at him.

"Edward, don't talk to him like that!" I warned, detaching the drip from my left hand so I could get off the bed.

"Don't tell me what to do Nessa, you don't even know this guy. What if he's behind the accident? How did he know you were here? I'm just looking out for you."

I didn't like the fact that Liam was here to witness all this chaos, so I sent him out to go sit with the nurses.

Now back to these men.

"Edward I told you about the driver switch first but guess who was there for me? Daniel. If it wasn't for him who knows what would have happened to me."

"I wasn't with my phone when you texted. I'll explain everything later. But he shouldn't be here"

“Neither should you Edward. All you do is complicate things. You don't deserve her." Daniel said angrily facing Edward with annoyance written on his face.

"You don't know anything about Nessa and I. I'm 10 times the man you'll ever be"

"Is that what you think? You're so entitled and full of yourself, Edward, just like old times."

Fighting the pain, I got up in attempts to separate them. There's too much bad blood, and what does Daniel mean by old times?

"Enough!" I yelled even higher this time, walking towards them, despite the sharp feeling from my back that caused me to crouch in pain.

“Ah" I yelled, moving back to the bed for support. Edward reached for me by the waist.

I was very upset with him, all I wanted was to push him away and clear things with Daniel.

Edward fetched the nurses and they came in.

"You need to be on bed rest for at least 3 days till you can get better miss Coleman." One of the nurses told me.

Daniel remained silent and used this opportunity to leave without saying a word.

My stomach turned with nervousness.

Why did events in my life feel so chaotic?

Was I going to loose Daniel too?

Vanessa POVJuly 27th, 3pm•Wedding Day•The mirror before me reflected a woman I barely recognized. Soft, radiant, whole. For so long, I had carried shadows under my eyes and fear in my chest. But today… today, those shadows were replaced by light. The glam team fluttered around me, their brushes, combs, and sprays creating a quiet symphony of last-minute touch-ups. My hair, my fiery crown, had been coaxed into waves that cascaded down my back. A crystal comb anchored the sheer veil, long as a river, its edges embroidered in delicate lace. Across its hemline, stitched in fine thread, shimmered the words: Forever Yours.I couldn’t stop staring at those words. They weren’t just decoration. They were a vow, a truth, the story of how Edward and I had clawed our way back to each other through heartbreak, betrayal, and fire.“Vanessa, you’re glowing,” Mandi said, misty-eyed as she smoothed the veil across my shoulders.“Glowing?” Bella teased from her corner, adjusting her earrings. “She’

Daniel POV I had never been to a police station as an offender before. The walls were white and plain, humming under the faint buzz of questions and mold screams. I’d been in countless boardrooms, luxury penthouses, and private jets, but never here.Never on this side of power. The interrogation room was still dressed in money, of course. I had my lawyers flanking me, polished and grim, their watches worth six figures, their ties impeccable. But the air wasn’t money. It was shame. I watched from across in disgust as Susan screamed at the police. She was handcuffed, getting dragged to a cell because she refused to do so willingly. I shouldn’t have partnered with her. Shouldn’t have reacted to those damn texts she’d sent. The shame clung to me like a stench I couldn’t wash off. My right arm was wrapped in a stiff bandage, the bullet Edward had fired burning through flesh and pride. I flexed my fingers slowly under the table. The movement sent another shot of pain racing up to my

Two days before the wedding.2 hours post the kidnap.Vanessa POVI never thought so much chaos would happen today. Especially not with Daniel and Susan. She was the poison I never saw coming. And Daniel? He was the enemy within. The private hospital was far too calm for the storm that still raged in my chest. My dress from earlier was torn at the hem, blood smeared across my sleeve—a reminder of how close I came to losing everything.A nurse passed by with a clipboard, her soft shoes squeaking on the linoleum floor. I barely heard her voice; my ears still rang with echoes of the warehouse, Susan’s gun, Daniel’s rage, Edward’s groan when the knife sank into him.My body should have been resting, but I couldn’t sit still. Liam clung to my side, his tiny fingers fisted in the fabric of my shirt, refusing to let go. He hadn’t stopped trembling since the officers untied him. Every time I shifted, he whimpered like he was afraid I’d disappear.“It’s okay, baby,” I whispered, pressing a kis

Vanessa POV The gunshot cracked through the warehouse like thunder, the echo bouncing off the concrete walls. I flinched, my scream strangled in my throat as chaos exploded around me. Edward lunged, his body a blur of raw force, colliding with Susan as they fell to the floor. Daniel jumped on his back, fists flying, the sound of bone against bone making my stomach twist. I didn’t have time to process. Because Susan—God, Susan and jumped out of the mix, snapped her arm back up, the pistol still smoking, her eyes wild with rage. “Come here, bitch!” she snarled, shoving me forward with a vicious grip on my arm. “No—Edward!” My voice cracked, torn between the man I loved fighting for his life and the woman dragging me out into the cold evening air. The warehouse door banged behind us. I stumbled, my shoes scraping over gravel, my chest heaving as Susan forced me toward a white trailer hidden behind bushes, parked near the far end of the lot. My legs shook with each step, but my min

Edward POV The black SUV took up the miles as we sped out of Manhattan, the sky had turned into a golden color, reflecting through the rear view mirror. My private investigator and his team were trailing right behind us. He would alert the police when we get there. I had so many questions. How did they take him? Where was his body guard? My pulse thudded louder than the engine, my hand still throbbing where the glass had cut it earlier. I barely felt the sting. The only thing that mattered was the image burned into my brain. Liam, my son, bound and blindfolded. Every time I blinked, I saw it. Every time I drew breath, I imagined him calling out for me, for Vanessa, terrified and alone. “Slow the fuck down before you wrap us around a pole,” Tobias muttered from the passenger seat, his voice flat but his eyes sharp. “I’m not slowing down,” I ground out, fingers clenching tighter on the wheel. My throat was dry, my chest tight as if the air itself fought against me. “He’s ou

I thought of calling her then she called me. “Edward—” Her voice shattered through the line, broken, trembling. Vanessa. Instantly I knew something was wrong. Not wrong in the casual sense, but wrong in the kind of way that cracks bone and steals air before you even know why. “Vanessa? What happened? Where are you?” My grip tightened around the phone, every nerve sparking. She was crying, but trying to hold it together. “It’s Liam. He’s gone.” The room around me seemed to still. Tobias had been laughing a second ago with Samuel and Larry, the afterglow of last night’s bachelor antics still hanging in the air. But the second he saw my face drain of color, his expression hardened. “Tell me what happened,” I demanded, standing already, pacing toward the window like movement could ease
