Godiva's heart shattered together with each broken piece of the expensive android phone on the floor. Her mind was in jumbo. How was she going to continue communicating with Theresa? She hadn't even sent her location and neither had she gotten theirs. Theresa would be greatly worried about her.
Her fistful glare met Rocks' frightful one. Her anger multiplied, her loathe for him unending. "Why?" She questioned, her rage unabated. He disconnected her from her sisters and she couldn't forgive him. Every fibre in her screamed hate for him. What was he doing here anyway? Isn't this supposed to be her room?
"No calls," he coldly said and turned to leave but Godiva wasn't going to make it easy on him this time. Not after what he just did. She quickly ran in front of the door, covering the way with her small frame, as compared to Rock whose height was one and half her size. His shirt hung seductively around his torso, his black hair pulled back like he just got out of the shower and she confirmed that he looked attractive. Still, his manners were uncouth, warranting no admiration.
"You could have told me without destroying my phone. I demand a new phone and an honest apology," she said altogether. It seemed a pill of courage had dropped into her mouth the moment her phone hit the floor.
Rock squinted. How could he explain to her that destroying the phone was a way of protecting her? She refused his mark and now this. He was a man who explained himself to no one and he wasn't going to start with her. "Move," he retorted.
Godiva folded her arms to her chest, unmoved. What could be worse than her father selling her? Putting the pieces of the day together, she feared no more. Let death take her. At this moment, it would be best for her to rest with her father. Rock was scary and she was willing to test his limits. After all, all he ever did since they met was protect her, with reasons unknown. "And if I don't?" Her voice was daring.
Rock took hasty steps forward till he was close to her. Godiva's heart began thumping so hard, she feared the walls were going to fall. He stared into her daring eyes and muttered in a mellow tone, "mark you."
Godiva knew that he meant he was going to mark her, her reflexes instantly dropped, as she moved away with the speed of lighting. She hated him and she would never bear his mark. The corner of Rock's lips curled but she didn't see it. He walked out and just after shutting the door, she knelt before the broken pieces of her phone with a heavy heart. One thing was certain. She was going to make him pay for this. If she was going to live in this pack, then she was certainly going to make his life miserable.
Rock laid on his bed but sleep eluded him. Finally, he moved to his balcony, met with the cold refreshing breeze that calmed him. He had never thought about anyone the way he did Godiva. She was so tenacious, making him helpless. Somehow, he felt he could have just taken the phone from her and not smashed it but how could he be sure that she would comply and not make more calls?
He reminded himself of the events of the day. When he woke up this morning, all he had in mind was redeeming his fathers' purchase without any idea of what to do with it. He wasn't in agreement with the transaction when his father suggested it four years ago but it had already been done.
He already had someone even though they had lost touch for years. By then, he never thought any other girl would-be prettier than her. Meeting Godiva, he felt grateful to his father for the first time. She made his heart thump and his hairs stand on end. The mate bond was very strong with him but sadly, she couldn't feel it yet but she was his, and that was enough for him.
The door to the balcony pushed open and from the scent, he could tell that it was Xena and didn't turn around. She had a calming effect on him. Among rageful men, Xena carried her mother's aura that could calm any storm. She placed her hand on his hand on the railing. "She was sold to seven Alphas, not just you. I thought you should know what you are battling with," she said casually, perhaps regretting it.
She could feel Rock's hand tighten underneath hers, as a low growl escaped him. She discerned it was a possessive one but continued to speak casually. "You are the seventh and I think you should let her know. Per her understanding, she is running away from seven Alphas and if she realizes that they are only six and you aren't just protecting her from a good heart but the fact that she was your purchase, she would get upset and try to run away from you."
"My mate," Rock growled, turning his neck 360. Xena could hear crackling sounds but stiffened, upon realizing that everything got even dicier. All along, she thought Rock wanted to mark Godiva to protect her. She never knew they were destined, mates.
"How? Did Dad know?" She asked curiously. Before Rock responded, Steel appeared at the balcony doorway.
"He must have," Steel said, joining them at the balcony. "Dad never did anything without reason. He must have sensed it," he tactfully concluded.
"I see why you are certain to mark her before time. She would still be yours anyway," Xena said to Rock.
"She disagrees," Rock growled. By the way Godiva flinches and tries to escape at the sound of being marked, he knows that it won't be as easy as he wanted. Steel and Xena understood his few words than anybody else. Rock wasn't like most Alphas. He didn't have to talk much to make himself understood and he hated noise.
"Rock, I think we should let her know that you are among the buyers. After all, you weren't the one who made the purchase. If she finds out herself, she will hate us," Xena said after a while.
"No," was Rocks' curt response.
"What?" Xena couldn't agree to this. It would mean betrayal for things to turn the other way but the men seemed to have the same mind.
"I agree. Godiva is already trying to run. I think we should tell her after she recognizes him as her mate and the mating process is completed," Steel suggested.
"I strongly reckon that you guys should think through it again but you also have to think about her school." Xena's instinct was very strong. She discerned it wasn't right but how could she convince them? She was even more disappointed with Rocks' next response,
"No school."
She couldn't take it any longer. This was the first time they had a female in the packhouse after her mother and father passed on hand in hand two years ago. They had died a natural death and their bond was unbreakable. She couldn't afford to lose Godiva, seeing her as an elder sister. "Rock, you can't do this to her. You will ruin her life."
"He means for now. As soon as we make amends with these Alphas, she will continue with her education," Steel conveyed the meaning behind Rocks' words, which made her a bit steadfast but she still wanted all loose ends tied.
"Rock, at least let her know the purchase was made for you before time, please."
Rock never made promises. He understood Xena's concerns but also had his reason, which he couldn't explain to her. Xena was rasped in disappointment at his last words, "Good night." Rock was dismissing her and she knew what it meant. He wasn't ready to continue this discussion.
After Xena and Steel left, Rock's mind was still in a mess. He hadn't been able to decide exactly what to do. He was just knowing his mate who was yet to turn eighteen. He went back to lay on the bed but still couldn't close his eyes to sleep.
He decided to take a walk around the pack and just as he stepped onto the corridor, he smelled a strange presence. Sniffling the scent, it was coming from Godiva's room. He could differentiate at least six different scents from her room, making him raged.
Godiva gripped her battered phone in her hand, just as sleep stole her after a few sobs. She was exhausted from the day's miseries. It was agonizing when a strong pair of hands clamped around her mouth, lifting her from the bed. Her screams were hushed, the grip getting tighter. She still couldn't believe it was real and happening in Rock's pack. How did they get into her room? Did anyone know about it? She was making it easy for her captor though she couldn't see his face through the darkness. She kept fighting for her freedom but her captor was stronger than her.The firmness of a gun around her head made her stiffen, realizing that she was being dragged towards the window. Even though she couldn't see their faces, she could tell by their scent that they were different from the ones after her earlier in the day. Her heart sank into a fearful mud, hope deluding her on how she could ever be free from these entanglements. The only way she could explain how she felt was in comp
When Godiva woke up in the morning, everywhere was quiet. The room smelled like Rock but he wasn't there. She realized that she didn't know what he did and went to search for Xena concerning him. It was strange how fast things had changed in her life from the depressing death of her father to being chased by Alphas and finally being marked by the man she hated all in one day. Werewolves were naturally stronger than humans. That strength carried her quite well.It was in the wee hours of the morning therefore, she guessed Xena hadn't left for school yet. Stepping on the corridor, she diverted from going to Xena's room to the direction of a delicious aroma, leading her to the kitchen. Could it be Xena or Steel cooking? Godiva least expected what met her eyes, making them pop in shock and admiration.Carrying a vibe that made him look like a professional chef except for his outrageously cold demeanour was Rock making breakfast. She wished he could smile a little and expre
Seeing her determination, Xena gave in. She couldn't allow Godiva to roam the whole pack in search of the gym. She would have to take her there and await whatever consequence befalls them. "It's alright, I will show you," she gulped down a cup of water and said.Godiva sighed. Somehow she was just bluffing. How tedious it was going to be for her to locate the gym on her own. Then she wondered how they maintained the pack. She never knew the source of income of Alphas and their pack members. "Another question? What does he do for a living?" Godiva asked and Xena knew she meant Rock. She wasn't ready to tell her about their businesses in the city. There was just so much at hand at the moment."You will know all that. Rock is usually very busy. He took time off because of you. I think you should appreciate that fact," Xena threw a hint but Godiva understood differently. She didn't understand the level of sacrifice Rock was making for her but gratitude would always be supp
"Alpha Bond, know your territory and respect yourself!" Steel roared. Alpha Bonds' bodyguards were already moved to get Godiva up the stairs. She did not attempt to escape, being rooted in shock and fear, her eyes were wide open, her feet frozen."Enough!" Rocks' roar got them trembling, the bodyguards froze. He turned to Godiva. "To your room," he ordered. Godiva instantly defrosted at the sound of Rocks' voice. It wasn't the first time he saved her therefore, it was easy for her to trust him. She run to the room, locking the doors like a child haunted by her childhood nightmare. Alpha Bond was ruthless. He had no epitome of pity. His eyes emitted fire and he seemed rough.Rock might speak a few words but he was more desirable. The sides of Alpha Bonds' hair were shaven and he held the middle part in a ponytail. His bodyguards were as tall as Rock and without warmth. Rock returned his attention to Bond."Out of my pack." He sounded casual like he was speaking t
Godiva could feel the hot effect of her question on him. Perhaps the timing was wrong but she wanted to know. The Mark was supposed to protect her and she was ready to reject her mate if it wasn't Rock, even though she was certain that they were incompatible.Perhaps a good way to make him warm up to her would be to bombard him with so many questions. Well, Rock wasn't ready to give any answers. Matters concerning the mark reminded him of his foolish youth. "I have to go," he began walking to the door but Godiva was upset. This was exactly what she hated about him. Trashing everything she deemed important as if it was nothing. She couldn't take it.She blocked the entrance with her small frame. "You have to tell me something, Rock." She was courageous, bottling everything inside that wanted to explode but she couldn't allow herself to break down in front of him. She couldn't let him know that she missed her sisters and thought of their well-being. She couldn't let him
For the next one week, Rock continued having his cold showers and Godiva was adjusting to her new life. It was difficult and yet, she couldn't complain anymore. Acceptance was a vicious language she had to embrace. She had to accept her fate to survive. However, having been cut off from her sisters and knowing they were well worried about her, she taunted Rock with her frustrations, making him avoid her at most times. Rock usually left very early after preparing breakfast when she was still asleep and returned late at night when she had retired to bed. Godiva didn't have to be told that it was because of her.It didn't take long for her to find a solution to his ways. Today, she slept a lot during the day and at night, she waited patiently for him, pretending to be sleeping when the door opened. Rock tip-toed through the darkness to have his bath when his phone rang. He retrieved it quickly from his pocket, pressing the answer button to not wake Godiva since he thought
Rock's appearance was unexpected, his movement swift, comparatively to the wind. Just a glare was enough to cut short anyones' life. It was unlike him to be in a place like this, the environs irritating his demons. He hated the loud music and being around so many strangers, not knowing whom to trust. He didn't hide his disappointment when his gaze caught Steel. How could he allow Godiva to dress as if she was for sale, bringing her to a place like this? He was to protect and not expose her. How could Godiva accept such a sexy dress and follow Steel to a place like this? Being quiet, he hardly socialized and found it time-wasting. What Godiva and Steel didn't know was that ever since that attack at the packhouse, Rock had assigned the bodyguards to report all her movements in his absence. As soon as Steel drove out, it wasn't only the enemy's car that followed them but also one of the bodyguards, reporting their movements. When Rock was informed that they were i
Godiva couldn't fake bravery anymore. She "Rock, what are you doing?" Her voice shivered with each word while she tried to get away. An unexpected smirk appeared in the corner of Rocks' lips, upon seeing her nervous. She walked backwards to the door but had nowhere else to go, clinging desperately to the door handle. The locked door was behind her, with Rock in front of her. Subconsciously, she closed her eyes, waiting for a painful hit of the belt which never came. She could feel him close up on her, so close his breath refreshed her face. She felt the coldness of the scissors around her exposed arm with gentle waves. Swallowing a lump in her throat, she instantly flipped her eyes open, flung with diverse emotions, not knowing Rocks' intent at the moment. "Please Rock, don't do this. I promise to be good.""Shhhhhhhhhh, don't talk." When Rock spoke, she didn't feel any coldness in his voice. Rather it was filled with desire, striking different codes in her mien.
