Chapter 15

Third Person's Pov

"Don't hurt me, I am your friend."  Sin gave Mallory a goofy grin as Mallory pulled a small knife from her sling bag.

Her name was embroidered on it in a cursive form.

"Since we have a lot of ongoing experiments here. I decided to tighten the security." Mallory pressed a passcode on a glass-like screen.

Sin looked around then looked back to Mallory.

"Those snakes waiting at Isla Serpiente's shore are they not enough?"  He asked her.

Isla Serpiente is home to a species of the world's venomous snakes and will welcome anyone on the shores of the island.

Miscreant took advantage of the nesting of hordes of snakes here to build a laboratory owned by them. The walls that prevent the snakes from coming within the laboratory's vicinity are state-of-the-art fences with the capability to produce a high voltage of electricity that will electelectrocutedne who tries to climb it.

The only way to get to the laboratory is to ride a chopper that lands on top of the laboratory's helipad.

"Technologies enabling someone to copy someone else's fingerprint have been made." Mallory paused talking for a moment and made a small cut on her finger.

An amused smile drew on Sin's lips when he saw Mallory squeezing his finger wound so that it dripped on the screen.

The moment her blood touches the screen, a scanning happens confirming her identity.

The laboratory's titanium door opened.

"That security system was designed to accept a drop of fresh blood, and if someone drops a blood that isn't listed on the system, a set of lacers will welcome and slice them, instant death,"  Mallory explained as if she had read the questions in Sin's head about the credibility of their newly installed security system.

"You see? This is why I like you. You're so good and evil," he said

Sin and Mallory came across a glass door where four people wearing laboratory coats and goggles were trying a drug experiment on a rabbit.

"Leave us alone."  Mallory authoritatively ordered their chemists.  Sin bored his eyes into the rabbit who seemed to be losing its body fluid, gradually having difficulty breathing.

"Would you mind telling me what exactly it is that's happening to this poor bunny?"  He asked.

"Mallory,"  Sin called her.

"We've been working on this toxin for almost two years now. This toxin is a causative agent of diphtheria, enabling them to grow faster and is rapidly spreading on the victim's body."  She explained.

"It's just that there are things we still need to adjust, change, or add to the formula to get the results we want. You saw what this toxin did to the rabbit? We want the same result when we inject this into a person," Mallory further glancing at Sin.

"You're going to spread an epidemic?"  Sin took off his eyes from the paper where he was reading the reports about the said toxin.

"We are also making an antidote and those two will be finished almost at the same time. Once done, imagine the power will have," Mallory said.  Sin got down from the table and went around inside the laboratory to check Mallory's other experiments when he noticed some laboratory staff stealing glances at them.

"Those people, where do they live?"  He asked.

"At the bottom of the laboratory, there is an underground living quarter. They live there and twice a month they can leave Isla Serpienta to visit their respective families." Sin's jaw clenched upon hearing that.

"They know about the experiments why would you let them leave the island? What if they tipped the authority about our laboratory and experiments? The least that we want to happen is for the authorities to raid this island."

Sin fisted his hand and marched towards Mallorym  He tightly held Mallory's wrist to stop her from what she was doing.

"Tell me something that would calm me down so I don't have to beat your guts for being so reckless."  He whispered in her ear.

"I asked Conrad to design a nanite and microchip. We secretly planted it in the bodies of all the employees who work here."  She started to explain.  Sin slowly loosened his grip on Mallory.  His infamous smile is visible on his sinfully good-looking face.

"And?"  He asked once more, waiting for a further explanation.

"Thayer made a program on the microchips that is connected to his phone and mine, enabling us to know the laboratory's staff whereabouts, who are they talking to and what are they talking about...whenever they start sharing things about our experiment their name on our list will turn red, and with just one swipe of my fingers those nanite that we planted on their neck will explode, killing them,"  Mallory said then rubbed her slightly reddened wrist.

"I see."

Mallory smirked before she removed her goggles.  "You know me, Sin. I have a solution to everything before the problem even arises,"  She muttered and turned her back on him as she went outside the laboratory.

Staring at the laboratory's glass door where Mallory came out, he suddenly thought of Artemis.

"I want Artemis to become the better version of Mallory, someone who is smart enough to find a solution to their problem even if it's not yet there, someone who thinks beyond the present.  Someone dangerous in all aspects, a vixen kind of poison," Sin whispered to himself.

******

"Where is your lady, Catliona?"  Sin asked Artemis's lady-in-waiting when they got back to the Chateau but he couldn't find Artemis.

"I went looking for her there, but she's not there although she had knocked the targets," he added.

Sin checked the CCTV footage and saw that Thayer helped Artemis. He taught her some techniques.

"L-Lord."  Catriona looked down and began fidgeting, her hands were shaking as she heard him sigh.

"I'm getting bored! Just answer me or I might do something bloody."

"She went out with Lord Thayer," Catliona finally answered.

He shooed the maid away and turned to the Chateau's double door for his way out, before he finally got out, he met Lorcan who was grinning at him.

"Your car is waiting for you outside just in case you want to go chase someone, downtown," Lorcan said and threw Sin's keys into his hand.

"Sure! The patience I had for Thayer had run dry."
