"Tell me, how are things going with you and Rachael?" Dad asked in a suspicious tone that had me raising my eyebrow at him. We were now eating dinner together, in the dining room, which we always do as long as I have the time."It's the same as usual. We bicker all the time as if we are married." I replied, which had him laughing. Every time I looked at my dad, I saw myself. It's a bit freaky the way we looked exactly alike. The only problem is that he is the older version of me. we both have the same eye color, which is blue with a mixture of green, and if it wasn't for his age, we would both have the same jet black hair.He might have gotten a minor stroke, but the way he was going made it seem as if he was stronger than before."I don't get why you two can't get along. She's been working there for years now, surely there must be some part of you that likes her." I narrowed my eyes at dad after he said that and shook my head."Hell no, I don't want to get hypertension at such a young age because of her. She's my worst nightmare, I tell you." I replied while digging into the steak, wishing that it was Rachel's heart instead."One day you'll change your mind, I'm placing my bet at four hundred dollars. the winner takes it all." Dad wiggled his eyebrows in a comical way that had me laughing."I don't need any more money. Give it to a homeless person if you don't want it. But, I'll take that challenge." I replied, smirking. I could already feel the victory. Dad was going to lose this bet. I have to make sure.~~~~The next day at work, I decided to come up with a plan as to how I was going to win. Rachael already hated my guts because of the way I was treating her? so why not turn it up a bit? I know I might be a bit cold by doing that, but I don't want dad to win.I am now in my office, finding out from my employees if they came up with anything I could invest in, and so far, none of them made any sense."I said to be here by 9 am. It's 9:05 right now. I can't tolerate my employees slacking off on the job. there is a lot of work here to be done, so next time, get your ass here on time!" I shouted at another employee of mine, who was on the verge of crying.she nodded her head and apologized while running as fast as she could after I dismissed her. damn, what was I paying them for?I have fourteen people working here, six of them males and the other females. I had to be paying each of them seven thousand five hundred dollars every two weeks, is this what I'm wasting my money on?"Kirk, the answer is no. I'm not going to invest my money in some run-down hotel that can't seem to get a proper guest apart from hookers and drug dealers!" Kirk jumped at the tone of my voice while slightly shaking."Mrs. Abraham thought that it would be a good idea. with your name and a little upgrade, I think you can make a profit off them." I growled at Kirk for telling me what to do."Get out, you're fired. I don't want to hear it from you." I snapped, and this time someone did cry."B-But sir, I have a family to feed and a lot of stuff to take care of. you can't just fire me because of my opinion." he's right, but I didn't want to seem weak."Get out, Kirk, I'll recommend you to some other department. but you won't be working here as of now." Kirk nodded his head and left with his head down.Next, I called Brady, who gulped, obviously nervous about what was going on. I was trying to see what they came up with, but so far, they were all a disappointment."Sir, Emily and I did some research on Forte trade. I think it would be wise to invest in that company. It's similar to Bitcoin but fairly new. I don't see where you could go wrong in this." I nodded my head at Brady, feeling pleased with what I was hearing."Fine, I'll look into it. a five percent share in that company will have to be done for now, until I can see if it was worth it." Brady breathed a sigh of relief and left after that. Then it was time for me to call Rachael. ok, let the game begin."What do you have for me, Miss Hale?" I asked as I got up from my desk and made my way toward the window. loosening my tie a bit."It's not really about an investment. but there's this charity event that I think you might be interested in. My son's school is looking for some assistance with some supplies and I told them that I would ask you if you're interested. They only need eighty-five thousand dollars to be donated." I raised my eyebrow at her. Was she for real?"Why would I want to waste my money on a school that hasn't been redone in years?" I asked while folding my arms."Aren't you the one who said education will bring you success? The money that is being donated will also help renovate the school, along with other supplies such as computers and books. surely you aren't that cold to turn down something like this." I furrowed my brows at her, already hearing how she was challenging me. I had to act tough. Now wasn't the time to act soft."At the end of the day, it's my money, and I'm the one who gets to do what I want with it. The answer is no, Miss Hale. this is an investment company, not a charity for people who can't afford it." she narrowed her eyes at me, and my heart skipped a beat."You are a billionaire, I'm sure that amount of money is pocket change for you." I chuckled a bit because she was right."That still doesn't mean that I'm going to donate anything, leave and come up with something that I can make money from, not lose it." With that, she turned away and walked out, leaving me smiling since it seemed as if I'm on my way with winning that bet already.(Rachael)ugh! I can't believe that asshole! ok, I need to calm down, but still. He's such a jerk. Sometimes, I can't stand him, and today was one of those times. I simply told him about donating to Cole's school because they needed some assistance, and that jackass said no. I made my way back to my cubicle and sat down, slamming my hand on my desk as I felt like going back to his office and strangling him to death. "It didn't work out?" Emily asked as she walked up to me. "No, he said no, and not in a good way either," I replied, making her shake her head. I should have known. He wasn't kind from day one, so why did I have so much faith in him? "I heard that he fired Kirk for suggesting something to him. something is going on with him. He's never acted like this before." Emily said as if I cared. "At the rate that he's going, I'm this close to resigning myself. I can't deal with that dickhead anymore." Emily laughed while shaking her head. "It's only Thursday, we have one more d
(Xander)I laughed to myself as I recalled the way Rachael was mad at me for telling her to stay in my office and take my calls. I wasn’t worried about leaving her there since I had done it before, and I could trust her despite our differences. It wasn’t hard to get her to hate me, I could have told her yes about donating at her son’s school, but how would I win the bet if I acted soft with her? My father had another thing coming if he thought that I was going to end up liking Rachael. I knew that the old man had a plan as to why I shouldn’t fire Rachael. It was easy to tell. He wanted us to be together since he saw her as a daughter, a person who could be a part of our family. I hated that idea more than anything in the world. Settling down was something that I had never thought about, I enjoyed the bachelor style I was living. I know that that sounded bad, but I can’t help it. I liked being free, not being able to answer anyone as to where I was or who I was with. It was better
(Rachael)I was angry. No scratch that, I was furious! I was angry to a point where all I saw was red. I can't believe that bastard isn't here yet. It's been two hours since he left me here and still haven't returned. Should I trash his office? I think I could get away with it since he isn’t back as yet. On top of everything, I haven't eaten, so I was also hungry. The noises that my belly was making sounded like an alien had found a new home there. I cringed so hard I felt like I sprained something. Ok, what am I going to do? I couldn't just leave here since he told me to stay and take his calls for him. So far, all the calls I have gotten were boring investors looking to have a meeting with him, so I wrote it down. I should be getting a bonus for this, I was not doing this for free. After a couple more minutes had passed, the door finally opened to reveal a smiling Xander who seemed to have gotten some sort of good news. "At least you're happy." I said while folding my arms and g
(Xander)when I left work, I drove home after I called Leon to see what he was up to. I wanted to hang out with him at the bar that we had visited often, so I was shocked when he agreed to go with me since he was still a bit busy. once I arrived home, I was happy to see that Lucy was there and Dad hadn't run her off like he often did. the two of them were talking and laughing while playing a game of chess in the living room. I was amused at the sight of them getting along, Dad thought that he was too old for a babysitter, but Lucy is his nurse and not a babysitter. "Hey guys, Dad, I'm going to hang out with Leon for a bit. I'm not sure if I'm going to be home tonight." I said as I sat down next to them. "gonna get some?" Dad asked, making me raise my eyebrow at him in question. he rolled his eyes and went back to focusing on his game. "I'm old enough to know about those things, Xander, so don't look at me like that. I used to get around before I met your mom. Maybe that's where you
(Rachael)“Come on, please? It’s tonight, and I don’t feel like going alone.” Emily begged for the tenth time already.“I have a son to take care of, I can’t just drop everything like that,” I replied, trying my best to argue my way out of what she was asking of me. “I already asked Brady, and he said no, you’re my only other option. My parents expect me to be there tonight and I don’t want to go alone.” I sighed, knowing that Emily wouldn’t stop bothering me until I agreed with her. “Fine I’ll go, but you’ll owe me, though.” That got a squeal from her, which had me covering my ears. She hugs me and nods her head. “Thanks a lot, babe! I promise I’ll pay you back somehow. I hate going to that hotel alone no matter if it belongs to my parents.” I nodded my head in understanding because I was the same. The Pearl Bay Hotel was one of the largest hotels here in Manhattan. It was where most celebrities would stay when they visited. It’s a five-star hotel as well and extremely expensive.
(Xander) Finally learning her name, I took Cassie to the nearest hotel so that I could have my way with her. What I didn’t know was that there was going to be an event there. I got surrounded by paparazzi right away, asking me questions and taking pictures of Cassie and me without my permission. I was getting angry until I saw a dear friend of mine, Louie Garcia. He is one of the top actors here in America, and we had been friends back in middle school. It’s quite funny that he was the one to recognize me first because he had changed a lot. After we talked, it was finally time for me to take Cassie to the room I booked for the night, but I stopped when I saw Rachael. What was she doing here? Did she hear about this event and come dressing like that, hoping to score big? I don’t care though, but something deep down inside of me did not like that idea so I made my way over to her after giving Cassie the key and telling her to go to the room, that I would be there soon. She was more th
(Xander POV) After I made it home, I took a much-needed shower and brushed my teeth, and got ready to go to bed. Dad had already been sleeping by the time I got home, so I didn’t bother waking him up. It was a couple of hours later when I woke up from a dream I never expected to have. Yes, it was starring Rachael and her gorgeous body, and now I was hard yet again. I can’t even sleep in peace without her taking over my dreams, taking over my thoughts. My mind has been plagued by her presence lately, and it was getting to be too much. Deciding to just forget about everything, I fell asleep, knowing that I had a lot to do at work in the morning. The next morning, when I woke up, I got ready for work and made my way downstairs. Dad was already there all dressed up, and I smiled because it’s been a while since he took care of himself like this. “Going somewhere?” I asked as I took the cup of coffee he handed me and told him thanks. “Yeah, I’m taking a little trip with you to the offi
(Rachael) I hurriedly pushed Xander away from me, not believing that I was stupid enough to kiss him back. My eyes were still wide as I thought about what I had done. I instantly started beating myself up, knowing that I made out with the one person I hated the most. “You shouldn't have done that,” I said, backing away from him. He didn't reply. He just stood there, breathing hard. I ran out of his office before he could stop me or say anything. I wasn't watching where I was going as I ran into Mr. King. He grabbed my hands, steadying me so that I wouldn't fall. “Where are you going in such a hurry?” Mr. King asked as I tried to calm down by taking deep breaths. “Um, I just needed some fresh air,” I replied. He narrowed his eyes at me as if he didn't like my answer. “Did my son do something to you? Is that why you're running?” I was going to deny it, but Mr. King can be scary sometimes, so I found myself telling him the truth even though I didn't want to. “he kissed me,” I repli
