In that ordinary moment when their eyes first met, little did they knew it was the start of an extraordinary love story.

-Unknown.

|A L E E Z A|

Among the dazzling lights of the party, that is being held in a penthouse. Yeah, no shit, the host is the son of a great businessman, who I know nothing about.

A lot of people filled the huge penthouse, everyone dancing to their own tune, some getting drunk on their issues and happiness. Between all those people, I felt like a lone star in a glittering sky. It's been a few days since I shifted here from my country, my home. But still I miss them, I miss them like I never wanted to get away from them. As much as it is true, it is not the whole truth. I knew the cost of my freedom would be this.

In this huge city, even bigger university and the crowd of thousand people, there was only one person who stopped to have a conversation with me. The boy who bumped into me like a hurricane just to be my saviour from this ache of loneliness.

Lev King.

He invited me to his grand party, yesterday, when he bumped into me. I found out that I share classes with that handsome man. We got along, thank fuck, because I can not for the life of me bring myself to make any friends here.

The room buzzed with laughter and chatter and the infectious energy. But, beneath the shimmering black off shoulder dress that I wore to the party tonight, I carried a quiet solitude. I left my family behind to live this life, to taste the freedom freely and not just on the tip of my tongue. But I did not realised that loneliness will be the price I would be paying to get the freedom I always chased. Their absence always settled like an ache in my heart, even when I am surrounded by a crowd of hundred people.

Yet, amidst the crowd I did not failed to recognise him, when I saw him with two boys and a girl, clinging to his side. Lev, with those mesmerising brown eyes that seems to hold the joy of the world, a sharp jawline that exuded confidence and a sharp pointed nose, looked as handsome as ever. His tousled, dark brown hair framed his face, in a simple white t-shirt and sleek black jeans, he looked effortlessly stylish. I battled inside my mind between if I should go and greet him or just stay here to enjoy the party.

The battled did not lasted long as I saw him, noticing me from the distance before he waved at me with a wide smile. I returned the gesture, gladly, cutting through the crowd to reach him. We both covered half distance and met halfway.

"Hey," his smile looked like a ray of the warmth for a person who has been shivering in cold for long enough to appreciate it.

"The party is incredible." I tell him, homestly, my gaze wandering around in the penthouse that shone with colorful bright lights.

Lev let his gaze scan me from bottom to top before his eyes returned to my face and he complimented, "You look breathtaking." It's the way Lev says it like he meant every single word that made Aleeza feel more beautiful than she did before.

Like a gentleman, he seems to be, he extended his hand towards me, bowing slightly as he asked, "Shall we dance?"

A light chuckle escaped my lips before I put my hand in his large one. He took a hold of mine and guided me through the crowd to the dance floor. So many people danced to the beat of the music, lost in their own world not giving a shit about anyone else around. It spoke volumes about the freedom they must be feeling.

Shape of you by Ed Sheeran filled the air as I stood in the middle of the dance floor with Lev. I locked eyes with him before nodding in a silent agreement, only, we two seem to know about. The pulsating rhythm coursed through my body, setting my heart elate. I felt alive, free, like all other people on the dance embrace in the soothing embrace of music.

We moved in sync, his hands lightly resting ony waist, guiding me through the swaying crowd. Every step was effortless as if we have danced together a hundred times before bringing it to the eyes of audience.

With a sly grin, he leaned in and shouted over the music to be heard, "You call this dancing, Aleeza?"

He twirled me twice and when I faced him again, I shot him a playful glare, matching the volume as I answered, "I have got my own style."

He chuckled, twirling me once again with a flourish, "That's one way to put it." He said.

As we twirled, swayed, and continue to groove to the music, the sound of us laughing filled my ear like of music. And, in this moment, right here, I realised that sometimes the best conversation happens on the dance floor which later, leads to a great friendship.

A few minutes later, we got down the dance floor and Lev excused himself to meet some of his friends. I took it as a chance to take myself towards the bar and get myself a drink.

While I was heading towards the same, my eyes caught the sight of something, more like someone. A man sat at the stool near the bar, a glass of drink in his one hand and his eyes as disinterested and distant as one human's could be. Yet, there was something alluring and magnetic about him.

I decided to approach him, taking large and bold steps towards him in my pencil heels, I stood right next to him. His eyes did not wavered from the drink as if the world can go to hell for all he cares.

"Hey," I said, greeting him, with the hope to find out more about his enigmatic personality and dig deeper about the mysteries he is hiding in those gorgeous eyes of his.

The boy, slowly but surely turned his head to me. But, when I took a clear look at his face, my mouth gaped at the sight.

I do not know what I was expecting from him.

But this was definitely not it.

Interesting.

  • Tangled Desires   Epilogue

I dreamt of it. -Unknown. |A L E E Z A|I slipped into the peach-colored bridesmaid dress, feeling its soft fabric cascade down my body. The slit on my right leg added a touch of elegance, while my hair, tied up in a loose bun with a few locks framing my face, completed the look. I applied a swipe of lipstick, then turned to see Kirill, my boyfriend, dressed in his tuxedo, looking as handsome as ever.As he approached me, circling one arm around my waist, I couldn't help but smile up at him. Adjusting his tie, I felt his hand cup my cheek, his thumb caressing it gently. Leaning in, he cupped my jaw, and our lips met in a tender kiss. Despite the months that had passed since I was shot, I could still see the fear in Kirill's eyes, the fear of losing me.To dispel that fear, I wrapped my arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. I was unashamedly addicted to this man; he was my everything, filling every corner of my heart and soul. Breakin

All I wanted was to hear the doctor come out and tell me that she was completely fine, that she was okay, that she was safe. But as I glanced down at my hands, still stained with her blood, the reality of the situation hit me like a sledgehammer to the chest.I saw the way she had slowly closed her eyes, surrendering herself to the darkness, and my chest tightened with a pain so sharp it felt like I was being stabbed with a thousand knives. But she must not know me well enough if she thinks I would ever let her go so easily. No, I would fight tooth and nail to keep her with me, to bring her back from the brink of death and into the light once more.As I glanced around at the worried faces o

Is it the end or the beginning? -Unknown. |K I R I L L|My pulse raced as the tension thickened in the room, suffocating us in its grip. "Shoot him, Aleeza," Nicolas's voice cut through the silence like a knife, commanding her to take action, but her hesitation spoke volumes, a silent protest against the violence that threatened to consume us all.I watched in disbelief as her fingers trembled on the trigger, the weight of her decision bearing down on her like a heavy burden. Lorenzo's arrival only added to the chaos, his voice a jarring intrusion in the tense standoff."What the fuck is happening here?" Lorenzo's words echoed in the room, his eyes scanning the scene with a mixture of confusion and concern."Stay back, Lorenzo," Nicolas's response was swift and dismissive, his tone laced with authority.Lorenzo's plea for reason fell on deaf ears as Nicolas's resolve hardened. But her trembling hand betrayed her fear, a silent plea

But if the story is over, why am I still writing the pages. -Unknown. |K I R I L L|As the echoes of gunfire reverberated through the mansion, I wasted no time in arming myself, reaching for my gun tucked away in the wardrobe. It felt familiar in my grip, a cold weight that offered both comfort and reassurance in the face of danger.I spared a fleeting thought for Lev, grateful that I had sent him back to college when news of the impending war reached our ears. He may have grown up in this world of violence and bloodshed, but he had not been groomed for it like I had. It was a relief to know that he was safe, far away from the chaos that threatened to engulf us.With my weapon in hand, I rushed towards my father's room, my heart pounding with a mixture of anticipation and dread. I knew what awaited me on the other side of that door, and yet I pushed aside any doubts or fears that threatened to cloud my mind.As I entered the room, I found

He can never go unseen in a world where I exist, because, he is all I see. -Unknown. |A L E E Z A|As I paced back and forth in the dimly lit study room, my mind buzzed with thoughts of the impending war. The tension in the air was palpable, weighing heavy on my shoulders like a burden too heavy to bear alone. The news of the Russians' brazen attack on Lorenzo's warehouses and the theft of a rare piece from Nicolas had sent shockwaves through our family, igniting the flames of conflict that threatened to consume us all.Viktor Volkov's name hung in the air like a dark cloud, his reputation preceding him as a force to be reckoned with. The Russians were moving with the speed of light, leaving destruction and chaos in their wake. And yet, despite the looming threat, I couldn't bring myself to ask my brothers to show mercy or to slow down their plans. The war was not just between two gangs; it was a battle that involved hundreds, even thousa

Everything is fair between love and war. But what if the war happens for love itself? -Unknown. |K I R I L L|The days dragged on in a blur of solitude and emptiness. I hadn't spoken to my father since returning from Italy, my heart heavy with the weight of farewell unspoken. And Nikolay... Nikolay, once a trusted friend, now a betrayer who had shattered the fragile trust between us. The knowledge that he had revealed my feelings for Aleeza, leading to her abduction, weighed heavily on my soul.I missed her desperately – her warmth, her scent, her smile, every little detail that made her who she was. But more than that, I missed the possibility of a future with her, a life where we could be together without the shadow of our families' rivalry looming over us.I sat alone in my room, the glow of the laptop screen illuminating the darkness that had settled within me. Every attempt to devise a plan to reunite with Aleeza ended in defeat, eac

The pain of this separation, who else can truly fathom? Only one whose heart has burned with the flames of agony can comprehend the anguish within. -Unknown. |A L E E Z A|The morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow on the room. As I stirred awake, I reached out instinctively to the other side of the bed, only to find it empty and cold. Panic surged through me, and I sat up abruptly, scanning the room for any sign of him. Desperation fueled my actions as I checked the bathroom and every corner of the room, but he was nowhere to be found. The realization hit me like a wave, crashing against the shores of my heart. He had left. The emptiness in the room mirrored the void that now consumed me. I refused to believe it, clinging to the hope that maybe he was just in another room or perhaps getting breakfast. But deep down, I knew.My eyes fell upon a paper, neatly tucked under the paperweight on my side table. Hastily,

It was not supposed to end like this. It was supposed to be a beginning of our story. -Unknown. |K I R I L L|The room seemed to constrict around me as I took in the sight of her bandaged arm – an inadvertent canvas of her silent suffering. Each wound, a stark reminder of the pain she had chosen to bear. My gaze lingered, tracing the contours of her hurt etched into her delicate skin.As she recoiled from my touch, an impenetrable distance yawned between us. Her words, a heavy verdict, hung in the air, condemning me for the betrayal she believed I'd committed. The truth, fragile and earnest, seemed elusive, slipping through my grasp like sand through fingers.Desperation clawed at my throat as I sought to bridge the emotional chasm. Her guarded skepticism stood as an impenetrable fortress, and the question that hung between us – "What if you're lying again?" – echoed the haunting specter of doubt. My plea, a trembling admission of wi

And, between all the misunderstandings the line between the truth and the lies blurred. -Unknown. |A L E E Z A|The breakfast table served as a stage for our daily performance of familial normalcy. I draped myself in a full-sleeved top, a feeble attempt to conceal the secret beneath.I sensed Lorenzo's watchful gaze. "Full sleeves in this weather?" he queried. A forced smile played on my lips as I replied, "Just felt like wearing it."An unspoken agreement lingered in the air, urging everyone to avoid delving deeper into the complexities veiled by my seemingly mundane choice.Yet, for me, each day was an unspoken battle. The small cut that marked the beginning had evolved into a clandestine ritual—a silent plea for respite from the storm within. I had a cut on my wrist for every night, when I begged to sleep without pain and requested the almighty above to help me, to save me. But when nothing helped me, I helped myself in The way tha
