Chapter 11: The Mussels

“Your threat doesn’t intimidate me. I have the option to take legal action against you. Well, if you’re up for a challenge, how about we resolve this in a legal setting?” I told my caller that.

“Who are you bothering?”

As I glanced over my shoulder, there stood Russell, his face etched with a deep frown. I glanced at the screen of my phone. Fortunately, I had already ended the call before Russell spoke.

“I assure you, I am not causing any distress,” I stated with a pleasant smile. “Maybe I could bother you in bed.”

“You’re crazy!” she scoffed.

I chuckled. As Russell abruptly turned away, I instinctively reached out and gently grasped her arm, preventing her from walking away.

“Hold on a sec. Let’s talk first.” I said.

Before I let go of her arm, she asked me. “Oh, there’s nothing to talk about?” Russell said.

I couldn’t tear my eyes away from her. Regardless of the events that transpired last night, her treatment of me remains unchanged. She remains irritated and angry with me.
