Chapter Fifty

Something bothered me and nagged at my mind while I sat up in the strange bed being spoon fed. The bears had managed to kidnap me despite the Lio’s mark.

“Iericho, how is it possible that I was taken from the wolves with Lio’s mark on me?” He didn’t meet my eyes but continued to feed me.

“The bonding process is incomplete, that’s why. He didn’t have the chance to use his power to bind the two of you during the ritual. You would’ve needed to be bound to him with his power and had been in his presence for a full forty-eight hours for the marks to have fully protected you. Because the ritual was interrupted the bonding failed. The longer you two are separated, not only will you weaken and fall ill but Lio as well. You’ll both remain in a weakened state and continue to get worse unless Lio completes the process. I know this because my wife and I went through it.” Iericho said with a sigh.

I’d finished the oatmeal and he set the empty bowl on top of the plate on the nightstand.
